Make Your Own Background ~ Double D

Hello crafty peeps!  Double D Challenges is starting a new challenge this week and the challenge is to make your own background.
I confess that I'm not very good at using techniques.  I tend to go the easy route and use printed papers for my backgrounds since I have enough to last me two lifetimes.

Today's card was a delight to make and a good opportunity to pull out some neglected glitter glitz gel.

I adhered a vellum floral sticker to the center of a piece of Cougar Natural cardstock and used a brick stencil to add the glitter glitz gel randomly around the image.  I love the sparkle it gives!

I mounted that to a piece of printed paper to add more depth and a moody, romantic backdrop.  Win! Win!

Please take a moment to visit Double D Challenges to see more amazing designs from the talented team.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is so pretty! Love the wordy background and the brick one that's all glitzed out--very pretty! (my 2 jars are rock hard lol) The floral is beautiful and the sentiment ties everything together! Perfection!

  4. Starting with that gorgeous 'sticker' was a brilliant idea, Birgit! I love your glittery bricks and the black scripty panel really sets a great stage for the whole design!

  6. You and me, both, Birgit. I'm not real technique oriented, but on those rare occasions I do enjoy it. I love how you combined the different elements here. Stenciling the glitter glitz after the sticker had been applied is rather genius as it blends together so nicely. The scripty paper in the background with the white on black sentiment over top completes the mood of your gorgeous card!

  7. Beautiful creation, Birgit! The dark script background paper is the perfect contrast to the sparkly brick stenciling. Love the floral image. It sure doesn't look like a sticker.

  10. Well, for someone that does not do techniques, you pulled this one off this pizzas! To combine the scripty background with the brick is creative. But them you used the sparkles here and there to jazz it up. Winner in my book!
