Pretty Packaging

The final countdown to Christmas day has begun!  I have so many Christmas projects that I haven't shared on my blog.  I think the posts could take me well into 2025.

Today's share are these cute little gift boxes that I covered.  They reminded me of my beloved pencil box that I would get each year at the beginning of the school season.

I thought these would be great for holding small gifts, but for photo purposes I filled them with chocolate.  That would make a fine gift too, I suppose!

This box is decked out with the Tim Holtz snowflake, which was a new favorite die that I got to work with this year.  It comes with these delightful ice skates.  I placed them over a vellum scalloped circle to soften the underneath.

I don't know why I have such fond memories of looking forward to school shopping and finding the perfect pencil box that would travel with me throughout the school year, as I walked to and from grade school every day.  (I lived directly across the street from the primary school, so it was very convenient.)

A second box was covered using more papers from Stampin' Up.  This one with woodland animals.

This box has another vellum scalloped circle, Tim Holtz Snowflake and cute little fox from CottageCutz.

My pencil boxes were like little treasure chests that I would keep special things in throughout the school year along with crisply sharpened pencils, a small 6" ruler, erasers and crayons.

If you've stuck with me through his post, thanks for indulging me while I reminisced of days gone by.

I'll be entering one of these projects into the following challenges:
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~ Anything Christmas
Cut It Up ~ Use More Than One Die
A Cut Above ~ Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!

Your gift boxes are so fun, Birgit. Great idea for gift cards, something small, and yes, chocolate! The vellum is such a lovely addition under the gorgeous snowflake. I love the vintage appearance of it. Thanks for sharing at A Cut Above's, December, "Anything Goes With A Die Cut" Challenge.

OH my dear friend ... these are FABULOUS! Yes I too lived close to my grade school (sisters & I walked to school and home for lunch every day ... wonderful memories). These boxes are AWESOME gift boxes (a gift within themselves). Beautifully done and I'm sure will be cherished!! WELL DONE !!!

Oh, these are marvelous, Birgit! Your red laced skates look so pretty on the creamy gold and white paper and that little fox is adorable. I always loved getting those new school supplies too. There was nothing like a new box of crayons or going to the school bookstore by the principles office for a new pencil! Must be why I enjoy all of my card making goodies!

Delightful! I adore these sweet treat (or special trinket) boxes! Love how you have decorated them in the pretty papers and die cuts. That snowflake looks amazing! I love your sweet story about your beloved pencil boxes, awwww. My Mom used to take each grandchild that came along on a bus trip to the nearest city for a day of back-to-school shopping (she never had her license) they all enjoyed it so much, I'm sure she was exhausted afterwards! I took Penny this past August, got everything on the list and more and a couple of pretty, pretty dresses too! Spent the day together (and yes, I was exhausted). Oh and much to my surprise and shock I bought the wrong school list of supplies LOL Apparently her school supplies it all. Oh well. I really just enjoyed the entire day with her. Hope to do it again next year, with or without a list hahaha Merry Christmas, Birgit...to you and you whole family! xo~

Wow, these are totally awesome, beautiful papers and a well thought out design! Your post brought back lots of school memories, I think my 'pencil box' was one of those zippered pouches that hooked in your notebooks, I walked to and from elementary school everyday (it was way safer then, then it is now sad to say). I loved Donna's story above, reminded me of my Grandma sed to take us downtown South Bend Indiana to get our winter coats each year.

Both of these boxes are absolute treasures Birgit! The papers you used to cover each one is perfect and I am totally in LOVE with that snowflake...how did I ever miss that??!! The skates and the little fox are both perfect layered over the snowflake too! Most of all I love the treasured memories you shared about carrying your beloved pencil boxes each year back & forth to school filled with all your cherished supplies and trinkets...I can almost see you walking to school with your boxes each year! I too walked to school all K-12 years and still have wonderful memories walking with my friends and brothers each day. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful post!! Hugs. :0)

Birgit, they're absolutely wonderful and I love them! I was the same way as a kid, still am, and I'm sure I was always destined to have a craft room and all these fabulous toys and treasures to play with. I've been so busy the last few days, but having some quiet time now and want to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas! ps: The card you sent is adorable and has been admired by everyone who comes within its proximity.
