Vintage Vignette Christmas Altered Art

Good morning friends ~  The Simon Says Wednesday Challenge is asking us to "Add Some Texture" to our project, featuring Tim Holtz products. 

 This is a super fun challenge for me as I enjoy making these little Christmas pieces using Tim Holtz product and found items in my craft closet.

 

 

These Christmas Vignette Boxes are long since retired but I still have a couple packages of them sitting in my stash, along with a pack of Christmas Paper Dolls waiting to be used.  So I started by creating the vignette using a Christmas tree on the inside of a box lined with Tim Holtz printed paper.  I die cut a small star and sprinkled on golden yellow glitter and mounted it to the top of the tree.

 

I used an old childs alphabet block, "B" for boy, and mounted the vignette box to the top using hot glue.  I then mounded on some texture paste and sprinkled it with some white Carrara Marble Course Glitter from Martha Stewart.  It does have a shiny look to it but my phone camera didn't pick up on the shine.

 

 

To finish it off, I added a tiny ornament which I covered with glue and sprinkled vintage silver microfine glitter to make it sparkle.

Sending You Prayers

Good morning friends ~ 

 As I was rummaging through my card file I came across this card that I made months ago and never posted.  I actually made it for a challenge but it closed before I had a chance to enter.  Do you do that?  I miss challenge deadlines all the time!

 

I started by making a scripty background using a Penny Black background stamp, and distressing around the edges of the background with the same color ink.

 

The beautiful Cosmos Bunch from Pinkfresh Studio was stamped and then stenciled using soft, muted colors.  I usually have a heavy hand when it comes to stenciling, so this took lots of self control.  

 

The "Sending You Prayers" is a stamp and die set from Simon Says Stamp.

The leaves have just started to fall here and temperatures are definitely fall like.   I've started cutting things back in the garden getting them ready for winter.  Seems like summer whisked by way to quickly.

A Shaped Card ~Guest Designer for Cut It Up Challenge #364

Good morning friends~  A while back my card made the Top Cut at the Cut It Up Challenge, so I'm honored to have a guest spot designing for them in today's challenge to make a "Shaped Card".

 

I used Nested Keyplate Etched dies from Say It With Stamps to make the shaped card.  I thought the keyplate design was a little bit unique and the fact that it is a layered set, gave me lots of opportunity to use up some printed paper.  The brown inside frame was actually cut from the same pale yellow cardstock I used for the flowers, but I sponged over it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I triple layered the outside frame and the inner frame to give it some dimension.

 

The printed papers are from a set called Floral Whispers from Asuka Studio.  The water colored florals in this set are truly stunning.  I added a couple of flowers made using Layered Colorful Blooms from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, and it is stamped on a banner from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  

 

A Layered Butterfly sticker from Spellbinders has landed herself on the bottom of this pretty card.  I think this card turned out quite nice!

Time To Shell~ebrate

I'm using the last of the die cuts that my dear friend Marcia sent me.  Goodness, they were all so fun, but this crustacean is a hoot!

 

The Happy Lobster die from Waffle Flower was cut from white cardstock.  I colored him with a coral colored Copic marker and then rubbed on Candied Apple Distress Ink.

 

I added some seaweed from Elizabeth Craft Designs that was colored using DOX inks as well.  I placed this little fella on a piece of design paper from Stampin' Up, and gave the whole thing some white gel pen accents and a healthy dose of white ink splatter from Spellbinders.

 

I am so pleased at how cute this turned out.  He truly looks like a happy lobster would look!

Buckle Up for 16

Hello friends ~ My great nephew recently turned 16 and is now driving.

 

 

I thought I would make him a birthday card celebrating these two milestones.

This truck die from Spellbinders fit the need perfectly.  I cut the truck out of shiny blue cardstock, though it's kind of hard to tell that it's shiny.

I hope he likes his new wheels.  ;0)

A Welcome Breeze

Good morning stamping friends ~ 

 The temps have shifted here on the east coast and fall is on the horizon.  I've been enjoying having the windows wide open.

 The Greetery's "Fresh Air" beckons the fresh, crisp fall air.

 

I cut the window out of the front panel and when you open the card, the scene is pretty much the same.

A Peek Under The Sea

Howdy friends~  

 

Today I'm sharing a card using the Simon Says Stamp Fun Fish Dies paired with the Dotty Contour embossing folder.  These were included in the envelope that Marcia sent me about a month ago.   

 

It was so fun coloring these fish up using DOX inks, blending different colors together to make these bright and sparkly fish.  Wink of Stella was added to make them shine.

 

The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I adore these little fishies!

Birthday Cake

Good morning friends ~ I'm still working on adding cards to my stash on hand.  My box has become woefully sparse and I didn't have any anniversary cards left, so I pulled out another oldie but goodie from Pinkfresh Studio called "Celebrate In Style".

 

As you can see, I heat embossed the bottom strip with gold embossing powder.  I like the touch of elegance it adds to the cake.  And that spray of flowers is delightful!

 

I added Petal Pink Liquid Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

It's the small details that add so much!

 

Here's another card using the left overs from the stenciled and die cut set.  I happily used up more printed paper in the process as well.  That's always a good thing.

Honeycomb Sea Creatures

Good morning friends ~ The cards I'm sharing with you today are compliments of my dear friend Marcia, who sent me these adorable "Hey Honeycomb Fish & Crab" die cuts and the honeycomb balls that she got from The Greetery.  

 

These sea creatures were so much fun to make, and I simply mounted them on this fun underwater printed paper from Stampin' Up.

 

Now, there is a stamp from The Greetery that says "Peel ~ Open ~ Stick!", but I don't have that stamp so I simply wrote it myself with a fine tip copic marker.  The sentiment I used on the other half of the circle is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I was so pleased that the sentiment fit perfectly on that half circle. 

Here is the fish card with the open honeycomb.  Is that cute or what??

 

 

 Here is the card I made using the Hey Honeycomb Crab.

I ended up having to hand write both sides of the circles.  My handwriting isn't that great, but it works in a pinch.

 

 

Eeep!  So cute!!  Thanks so much Marcia for the fun dies and honeycombs.  These were a blast to build!

Elegant Florals

Hello friends ~ I wasn't planning on posting today, until I saw the Time Out Challenge word prompts.  My card fits into three categories so I thought, why not!

 

I filled the front of the card using the beautiful Peony Bouquet stamp & die set from Altenew, sticking with a monochrome color palette, minus the leaves.  

 

It's hard to see, but I stamps a diamond pattern, yellow on yellow to make a subtle background. The filigree sentiment from Papertrey Ink is stamped in dark green.
