Mixed Media Monday ~ Sunflowers

Good morning, friends.  I've got my next installment of Mixed Media Monday for you today and it has a cheerful sunflower as its theme.

As always, I started with some inking, stamping and stenciling in my Create Happiness art journal.  I used the book stencil from Stamperia and a very old Postcard stamp.

This page gave me opportunity to use up some older Graphic 45 papers as well.

This wonderful sunflower is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I've had it for years and it still remains one of my favorites.  I cut all the pieces out of scraps I found in my scrap box.

The sentiment is from Papertey Ink.  It's stamped on a piece of scrapbook paper that was cut using a notebook die from Papertrey ink.

I enjoyed this project for many reasons.

1. Because it used up many items that have been sitting around for years.
2.  Who doesn't love sunflowers??
3.  I wait on the promises of God

I Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope you'll come back again in a couple of weeks for my next Mixed Media Monday offering.

Be Still And Know ~ Mixed Media Monday

"Be still and know that I am God".

Oh, how many times in my life, I've had to pause and reflect on this verse from Psalm 46:10.

*I am a worrier....
*I am emotional....
*I fear.... a lot....
*I breath....
*I pray....
*I trust....
*I learn to be still and know that God is God!

This was a page from my art journal that I did when my daughter was in the third trimester of her pregnancy, but we were so filled with the unknown.  We knew from the start, that her pregnancy was not a perfect pregnancy, and that baby was measuring small.  None of her pregnancies have been normal, and they've all ended up in loss.  Why would this one be any different?  Many times, I had to lean into God and learn to be still and trust Him for the outcome.

I started this page of my Create Happiness Art Journal, by ink blending tumbled glass and antique linen DOX inks to the background of the page.  Using the Book Stencil from Stamperia, I added Crackle Texture Paste randomly over the page and set it aside to dry.  I love the look of the crackled texture.

I started layering various die cuts from Tim Holtz Ephemera packs, as well as some greens that I cut out of printed papers found in my scrap box and a very old leaf die from Cheery Lynn.  The mushrooms and butterfly are leftovers from Simple Stories Vintage Foliage Bits.

I perched this handsome little dude from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Paper Dolls onto the mushroom and stamped the Bible verse and cut it apart as I wanted the look of text blocks to build the sentiment.

I was quite pleased with how this turned out and I hope that you like it too.

I'm so happy to share that our little miracle baby is home from the hospital and is doing well.
He's still a tiny, little peanut, under 4 pounds, but he's gaining weight every day.  He has stolen our hearts.

To say that dear hubby and I are proud grandparents is an understatement.

I'm adding this page to the Cut It Up Challenge ~ BIG!

Here's a list of products I used to create this:

Walk Through the Woods Curio ~ DRU

Hello friends~  Sorry for two posts on the same day.  That doesn't happen very often, but this month, it's happened twice due to two design team schedules that are overlapping.  Anyway, if you're looking for Double D's post, look HERE.  If you're looking for Dies R Us, then you're in the right place.

There's a new challenge starting up over at Dies R Us and the theme is "Dads / Masculine".

I've been seeing a lot of these curio style cards on the internet lately and I realized that I have plenty of dies from Dies R Us, that will help me achieve the same look, starting with the Lawn Fawn Peekaboo Backdrop, cut out of brown textured cardstock.

I randomly stamped a piece of printed paper in soft inks to finish the background.  I then added an Impression Obsession Feather, that I inked using DOX ink, splattered with water and heat embossed the edges in gold.

The berry twig is from Cheery Lynn Designs Floral Bouquet Kit, a Dee's Distinctively Fower 3, and an Elizabeth Craft Designs Small Butterfly, which was also cut from printed scrapbook paper.

Here are the links I used to make today's project, found at Dies R Us:

While I had my supplies out, I ended up making one card for each season.  The card above is for SPRING.

Here is SUMMER:

Secret Garden Flowers ~ DRU

Good morning friends~  Dies R Us is starting a new challenge today and the theme is "Anything Goes".  I've pulled out some pretty spring flowers from Dee's Distinctively to brighten your day.
I cut the flower petal layers out of two different shades of pink and added some details using my copic markers and a white gel pen.  I colored the centers of each flower using copics as well.  The leaves are from Cheery Lynn Build A Flower, Petals & Leaves.

The gold, oval frame is from my stash, but there are so many wonderful ovals in the store to choose from.  I know if you stop by the DRU store, you'll find just what you're looking for and more!

Sunflowers & Smiles ~ Double D Challenge

Hello friends~  It's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges.
This week, the theme is Sunflowers:

I used Cheery Lynn's Sunflower Set, which is an oldie but a goodie die set.  I dug through my scrap box and found these two pieces of printed scrapbook paper that seemed to compliment each other pretty well.  I cut them using Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles.

The sentiment is stamped using Elizabeth Craft Designs "Little Words That Mean A Lot" and then cut using Impression Obsession Fancy Label die.

Here's what you could win when you play along:

Sail Away With Me

Good morning friends~  I haven't played along with Cupcake Inspiration in a long time and after seeing my friend Kim's card for the challenge and how adorable it was, I thought I'd check out their challenge blog.  I'm so glad I did because there's some wonderful nautical inspiration there!  My card isn't as adorable as Kim's but it's nautical.

Do you ever want to just pull out all your old supplies and make cards with them?  I can get so caught up using new supplies and buying more because I think I "need" them when I have so many wonderful old supplies just waiting to be used.

This card is made using just dies.  No stamping involved.  The sailboat is an old one from MFT but I've always loved the simple design.  I paired it with PTI's Shape Shifters Oval die and the little anchor tag was a freebie from Cheery Lynn Designs a really long time ago.  It was fun pulling out some old dies and giving them some new love.

I hope you'll play along by clicking here.

In Stitches ~ Double D Challenge

Good morning stamping friends.  There's a new challenge starting today over at Double D Challenge.  The theme is "In Stitches" and we're looking for any projects that use real or faux stitching.

I pulled out the new to me Pocket Full Of Love stamps and coordinating die set along with the Stacking Pockets from Honey Bee Stamps.

I love how these all work together to create fun denim cards for any occasion.
Here's the card base I made using the die sets.  Cute, right??

I added some flowers in the pockets using Cheery Lynn's Floral Bouquet.  Look at that little red stitched tag.  Honey Bee Stamps thought of everything when they created this set!

Here are a couple of cards I made for Valentine's Day using this fun set:

A Celebration ~ Double D Challenge ~ Wedding

Hello stamplings!  I'm always happy when I find ways to use up some of the printed design papers in my stash.  This challenge from Double D Challenges, "Wedding"  gave me the perfect opportunity to do that!

I started with these beautiful papers from Mintay by Karola called 7th Heaven.
I cut a frame using Spellbinder Hemstitch Rectangles and fussy cut a floral spray from the printed papers and added it to the lower right corner.

This lovely cake is cut using Sue Wilson Designs Make A Cake Necessities Collection.  I adore this die set!!  I lightly blended some spun sugar Distress Oxide Ink to each of the cake layers and then assembled the cake, adding tiny flowers from Cheery Lynn Designs Baby's Breath Flower Kit.  The ivy is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Hopefully you can see the glittered Stickles I used in the centers of each of the flowers.

For the sentiment, I used Papertrey Inks Banner Style

Please stop by the Double D Challenge Blog for more inspiration from my talented team mates and join in on the fun!
