Strawberry Fields ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends ~ Welcome back to another installment of Mixed Media Monday.
Today's art journal entry features a wonderful collection from Simple Stories called Simple Vintage Berry Fields.  I just love the sun-shine colors in this collection!

I started by covering a page in my Create Happiness Art Journal with a sweet country yellow, gingham paper from Simple Vintage Berry Fields 6x8" Paper Pad.  If you look closely, you'll see the subtle image of a mason jar.  So reminiscent of farm fresh country.  I distressed the edges of the page and splattered on some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I layered on some ephemera bits from Simple Vintage Berry Fields Ephemera.  The strawberries are stamped using Sunny Studio Berry Bliss.  I love how real these look when stamped!

The "Oh Happy Day" stamp is from 49 & Market Vintage Artistry Dream stamp set.  The acetate butterfly, leaves and flowers were found on Amazon and the postage stamps are actual vintage stamps found in my vintage stamp collection.

Here's a list of products I used:

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  Do you keep an art journal?  Let me know in the comments.  I'd love to stop by for a visit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nothing Is Impossible With God ~ Mixed Media Monday

Happy Monday friends!  I'm back to share this sweet entry in my Create Happiness Art Journal for Mixed Media Monday.
Life's journey is filled with mountains and valleys.  The valleys can be a difficult road to travel if it weren't for the promises of God to help get us through.   Truly, Nothing is impossible with God!

I wanted this page to reflect the brightness of God's goodness in our dark days.  For my art entry, I did a bit of sponging on the background using a cloud stencil and deep blues DOX Inks.  The text was stamped using Leaves & Film Clear Stamp Set.  I added in some hand drawn stars using a white gel pen.  They are very faint, but if you look close you'll see them.

The hot air balloon and flowers are from Pink Dream Ephemera.  I added a few more white gel pen details onto the die cuts.  I typed the verse from Luke 1:37 on my computer and printed it on my home printer.  In keeping with the style of other entries in this journal, I cut the sentiment into chunks and outlined them with a fine tip black marker.

The border was stenciled on in black ink using Border 1 Stencil from the Create Happiness line.  I traced the border with a white gel pen.  This really made the border pop.  This reflects the silver lining in in the clouds.

I hope you enjoyed today's project, and maybe find a bit of hope if you're struggling through something right now.  Remember that He is with you and NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.

Art Journaling is a creative outlet that helps me work through my thoughts and experiences of every day life.  I'm not one to keep a written journal, though I've tried.  Starting this art journal has been a huge blessing to me.  I can get lost for hours in ink and paper, while reflecting on the Goodness of God.

Garden Journal ~ Mixed Media Monday

Happy Mixed Media Monday friends!  Today's mixed media offering was made in my Garden Journal.  I enjoy working outside in my flower gardens, getting my hands dirty and while it's still too cold and frozen to do so here on the east coast, I can continue playing with paper flowers inside where it's always sunny and warm.

The Garden Journal is a handmade book that I made a few months ago and my plan is to keep all the entries garden themed, while my Create Happiness art journal is all about God's Word and His promises.

I did quite a bit of inking on the background using DOX inks, stamping background images using stamps from the Create Happiness line of clear stamps.  I recently purchased some Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polish and thought I'd give it a try on this page.

You can see the gilding polish better in this close up photo above the ticket.  I love the sheen it gives, and the fact that it looks aged is a bonus.  The die cut frame, flowers and ticket are all from the Curators Botanical collection from 49 & Market.  I added more stamping using Sign Here Stamps from Spellbinders Flea Market Finds collection.

The image of the boots and flowers is a free printable that I found years ago online.

Here's a list of products I used today:

Entire Line of Create Happiness
Spellbinders Flea Market Finds
49 & Market Curators Botanicals
Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polish

Thanks so much for joining me today.  If you have any questions or comments, I'd love to hear from you.

Hugs~

New Creation ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends ~  It's time once again for Mixed Media Monday.

Today's entry into my Create Happiness Art Journal is fairly CAS.  I cut this large Eyelet Lace Frame from Spellbinders Garden Shutters collection out of a piece of parchment cardstock and stamped some scripty background in very light Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink.  I also stamped some vintage postal imagery using clear stamps from Spellbinders Flea Market Finds recent release.

The edges of the doily as well as the background of the page in my art journal got a healthy dose of distressing using Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stains.  The berries are clear acetate stickers that I found on Amazon and the oversized butterfly is from a K and Co. collection of die cuts called "Meadow".

I typed the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17 on my computer and printed it on my home printer.  I cut the sentiment into blocks, in keeping with the other entries in this journal, and outlined them with a thin black marker.

I enjoyed the CAS process of creating this entry, and I'm so thankful for the truth found in these words.

I'll be adding this page to the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge

YOUR WORD ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hi friends~  I'm back today with an art journal entry I made in my Create Happiness Art Journal, using images from Mintay Papers.

I just love Mintay Papers.  In face, I've never met one that I didn't like and I doubt that I ever will.

I started by blending on lots of rich Distress Oxide Ink into the background and then spritzed it with water and blotted up the ink using a paper towel, to give it this nice mottled look.  I then stamped a typewriter background using a very old background stamp from My Favorite Things.  I used the Lower Case Modern Alphabet from Scrapbook.com to create the title, adding some white gel pen details.

I typed the rest of the verse out on my computer and printed it on my home printer.

I fussy cut the flowers and typewriter out by hand and sponged some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink around the edges, and then added some details using a white gel pen.

I found this little scrap of paper in my scrap box and tore it from corner to corner to make a pocket, where I slipped in some ephemera bits from my stash.  I added this pretty vintage blue bird to the corner pocket.

I used a Create Happiness Borders stencil to stencil the border around the entire layout using black ink.

I hope you enjoyed todays journal entry as much as I enjoyed making it.

I'll be adding this project to the following challenges:

Art Journal Entry Using Flea Market Finds

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I'm here mid-week, sharing a page I recently created in my Create Happiness Art Journal.

I typically would save this type of post for Mixed Media Monday, but just after creating this page, Spellbinders advertised their Clearance Sale and they're offering an extra 15% off at checkout.  So there you go!

I wanted to work with Cathe Holden's previously released Flea Market Finds collection (which can now be found in the Clearance section) to create a page in my art journal, but I was short on time, so I used very few "mixed media" techniques.

This page came together quickly by covering the page using this pretty piece of printed paper from the Florals Palette Sampler.

I added some ephemera bits, creating a pocket using one of the pretty pieces from Meadow Lark Miscellany Pre-printed Die Cuts.  I tucked a few more die cut pieces into the pocket along with a cute photo I found online and printed on my home printer.

I stamped the title using the Miscellany Words Clear Stamp Set and a stamp image and postal cancellation mark from the Handle With Care Clear Stamp Set.

The warm colors on this page make my heart happy.

I've included affiliate links if you'd like to do some shopping. By clicking on these links, you're taken directly to the products.  If you choose to purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.  This commission helps me to continue to bring new content to you and also helps me to keep my affiliation with Spellbinders.  I thank you and appreciate your support.

Make Your Own Sunshine ~ Mixed Media Monday

Good morning friends and welcome back to another Mixed Media Monday.  Have you been keeping tucked in at home because of all the crazy weather patterns that we've all been experiencing here in the US?  I know for me, winters can be long and cold, so today's project is meant to bring some sunshine into your soul.

I found these wonderful K & Company "Meadow" die cuts from artist Susan Winget that jumped off the page over at A Cherry On Top.  The colors are so warm and vibrant and the images of flowers, butterflies, birds and ladybugs evoked thoughts of SPRING to me.

These die cuts were the inspiration for this Mixed Media Monday entry in my Create Happiness Art Journal.

I started by covering a double page spread using older papers that I found in my stash from My Minds Eye "Skies The Limit" collection.  The rose and yellow paper matched the colors in the die cuts perfectly.  You would almost think they were part of the same collection, except that I've probably had this paper pack for several years.

I stamped some text and leaves in the background using stamps from Leaves & Film stamps set from Stamperia.  Using Modern Alphabet dies from Scrapbook.com, I cut the words out of brown cardstock.  The word "Sunshine" is cut from this warm, creamy yellow Glitter Paper from DCWV.

I played around with the layout of the die cuts until I was happy with it, then layered the word "Sunshine" across the bottom of the two pages.

I added white gel pen details to some of the flower petals and called it complete.

This project is so cheerful and springy.  It makes my heart happy!  I hope it makes your heart smile too, with the hope of spring and new beginnings.

The Perfect Christmas Tree ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friend!  I'm so glad you stopped in for my next Mixed Media Monday project.
I have two Christmas cards to share with you today.
Both of my cards feature this beautiful 3D Texture Embossing folder from Sizzix called Pine Branches.

I started by running a piece of cream colored cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Pine Branches Embossing Folder from Sizzix.  Using a blending sponge, I rubbed Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness DOX inks over the raised portion of the pine branches.  I then added some Antique Linen Dox ink around the rest of the panel and randomly stamped a script image from Stamperia's Elements Stamp Set.

I found this fantastic vintage photo in the Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Dolls package and thought it would be perfect for my vintage style card.  I added photo corners and adorned the image using Poinsettias and greens from Spellbinders and a Pine Cone die from Gina Marie Designs.  I sprinkled some clear glitter over the petals of the poinsettias for added interest.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Sentiment Labels from Tim Holtz.
This card gives me a warm nostalgia from my childhood, when I would go into the woods with my dad and uncle to find the perfect tree, which always turned out to look like a Charley Brown Christmas tree, but loved just the same.

My next card is delightfully retro in style!  I created the background exactly the same as the first card, but this card found Jolly ole' Saint Nick wearing a pink stocking hat and mittens!

The oversized sentiment and Santa are from Prima's Candy Cane Lane Collection.  The cutest collection ever!  I made an accordion flip album using this entire collection, which I'll post next week.  A few prima flowers and two Classic Christmas Clear Die Cuts finished this card of perfectly.

Here's a list of products I used:

Sizzix Pine Branches Embossing Folder
Distress Oxide Ink
Stamperia Elements Stamp Set
Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Dolls
Tim Holtz Christmas Sentiment Labels
Prima Candy Cane Lane Collection
Classic Christmas Clear Die Cuts

I hope you enjoyed today's cards.  Come back in a couple of weeks for my next Mixed Media Monday.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monday ~ Sweater Weather

Breezy days...
Pumpkin Latte's...
Nothing better than sweater weather

Welcome back to Mixed Media Monday (MMM)!  Today's page celebrates the wonderful scents and sights of fall.  For this entry in my stone paper art journal, I ink blended Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Gathered Twigs DOX inks to the background, adding polka dots and vines, using stencils from Heidi Swapp and Create Happiness Borders 1 stencil.  I then stamped text over the background using a stamp from Create Happiness Elements stamp set.

I die cut this wonderful, Into The Blooms ~ Pumpkin from Papertrey Ink out of white card stock and added more of the same DOX inks, using blending sponges.  I randomly stamped a bit of text over the pumpkin and distressed the edges of the pumpkin again, using Gathered Twigs DOX Ink.

The leaves are and older set from My Favorite Things.  I cut the leaves from white cardstock and blended lots of fall colored DOX inks until I was happy with the colors.  I let them dry and then stamped the veins using the coordinating stamps from MFT.

I created the sentiment on my computer and cut the words into strips.  I added some white gel pen edges to the words to make them stand out better.  The loopy twine was the same color as the twine bow, but I dipped it in DOX ink that I squished onto my glass mat and sprayed with water.  I let the twine absorb all the color then wrapped it around a pen and let it dry.  I then added it to the pumpkin, added the twine bow and topped it off with an old button from my stash.  I finished it off by adding some white splatters using Dina Wakely White Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

*********************

I'm not 100% thrilled with how this turned out but you've gotta trust the process and learn along the way.  There are a few spots that I had to strategically cover.  I tried using alcohol ink on this page but discovered that alcohol ink does not work well on porous paper.  Lesson learned!  Thankfully, it's mostly hidden.
