Vintage Inspired Musical ~ Double D Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month so that means that Double D Challenges has a new challenge starting.  The theme for this challenge is "Music".  You could use sheet music, musical instruments, anything to do with music.  You can even let a song inspire you, just tell us what song it is.

I often lean on the side of "vintage" and this challenge certainly opened itself up to this type of card.  You'll see what I mean when you see the inspiration tile that Diane put together for you.

I used some beautiful Spring Meadow die cuts from K & Co., along with a printed background panel and some old sheet music from my stash.

Since the card base is on the darker side, I added a piece of white writing paper to the inside of the card, attached with a strip of washi tape, allowing plenty of space for a personal message.

I was inspired by all the sheet music and the pretty flower in the lower right corner.

How are you inspired:

I'd love to see your take on this challenge over at Double D Challenges.
Hope to see you there!

Easter Treat Box ~ Double D

Hello friends!    It's the first Wednesday of the month so that means it's time for a new challenge over at DD Challenges.  Easter is the theme for the next two weeks, so pull out your bunnies, chicks, eggs and crosses and let's get crackin' on.  (Get it?  "Eggs".... "crackin'".)  Sorry, I couldn't resist, and I digress.

I made up a bunch of these dear little Easter Egg Boxes from Sizzix last year and left them undecorated, so when inspiration hit, I'd be ready to make them pretty.

Truth be told, I decorated this box last year as well, but never got around to sharing it on my blog, so I thought that this challenge was a good opportunity to share this project.  I still have 6 or 8 eggs waiting to be made pretty.

I covered the top of the kraft cardstock box with some pretty printed, vintage looking scrapbooking paper and went over the entire egg with walnut stain DOX ink.  A decorative strip of the same design paper and a length of vintage lace was wrapped around the outside of the cover.

The bunny is a rub-on that I picked up from Amazon.  This set of vintage Easter images came with like 24 sheets of rub-ons and there are many images per sheet.  I will never in my life time have time to use them all.  I will link them HERE if you want to check them out.

The flowers are a mix of flowers that I purchased from Really Reasonable Ribbon years ago.  I'm so glad to finally be putting some to good use.

Here's the inside of the box, ready to be filled with something sweet, I expect.

I do hope you'll stop over at Double D Challenges to see more inspiring work from the team and then join in on the fun.

Avian Field Notes ~ Double D Challenges

Are you a bird lover?  I sure am!  I enjoy watching the birds (and pesky squirrels) eating at our feeders every day.  The DD Challenges duo, Darlene and Diane have a fantastic challenge for you this next two weeks, with the theme of "Birds".

I'm all in on this one!  I pulled out Honeybee Stamps Lovely Layers Winter Birds to create a vintage style card.  One that you might find in a book of Avian Field Notes.

I've tucked in some leaves and berries from Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms.  This is all nestled on top of a wonderful numeric embossing folder from Carabelle Studios.  I rubbed a bit of Walnut Stain DOX Ink over the numbers to give it a time worn look.

A couple of Tim Holtz Field Notes stamps are included to finish this entry.

I do hope you'll visit DD Challenge to see more avian inspired designs from our gifted team.

Vintage Valentine ~ Double D Challenge

Hello friends!  Double D Challenge is back with a new challenge, using the color "RED".

This challenge was a great opportunity to use these delightful vintage rub-ons that I purchased last year from Amazon. There are oodles of adorable designs to choose from.  It will take me years to use them all up.  I need to find other ways to use these rub-ons, so if you have any suggestions, leave your ideas in the comments below.

The background is a vintage French receipt that I printed on my home printer.

I added Penny Black Heart Strings that I cut from an Echo Park Cupid & Co. paper pack.
I also used a piece from that paper pack for the background.  I love how this card turned out.  So vintagey and swell!

Join us over at Double D Challenges to see all the sweet designs from the design team.

A Cozy Cupful ~ Double D Challenges

Hello friends ~ Double D Challenges is starting a new challenge and the theme is "Christmas Trees".
Quite a long time ago, my dear friend Marcia sent me this Cozy Cupful image from Power Poppy Stamps.  I colored it using prisma colored pencils, adding a bit of glossy accents to the ornament. I masked out a deckle edge rectangle and did a bit of ink blending around the edge.

The old fashioned sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I love the vintage font!
A quick and easy CAS card to end the year with.

Here's the lovely inspiration panel Darlene put together for you:

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

Vintage Pumpkin Postage ~ Double D Challenge

Pumpkin, pumpkin, who's got the pumpkin?
Double D Challenge does, that's who!  Yes, they're starting a new challenge and the theme is "Pumpkins".

I chose to pick from the vintage pumpkin patch for this challenge, using Honeybee Stamps Patchwork Pumpkin.

I gave it a postal vibe with an Elizabeth Craft Designs Postage Stamp Die and a Stitched Rectangle die.

The little postage stamp is from PTI Postmarks and the cancellation stamp is from Spellbinders Flea Market Finds collection, Sign Here.  There is a bit of text stamping in the background and the sentiment is from Honeybee Stamps.

There are oodles of directions you could go with this challenge and I'm sure the gallery is going to be filled with your beautiful work.  I can't wait to see your projects.
Here is the inspiration tile, brought to you by Darlene:

Sunflowers ~ Double D Challenge

Happy Wednesday paper crafting friends!  Are you ready for a new challenge over at Double D Challenge?  Diane has a delightful mood board for you for the next two weeks.

Sunflowers!  🌻🌻🌻 Who doesn't love a cheerful sunflower??
Here's how I was inspired by the upper right corner.

I'm all in when it's sepia toned!  I inked up the edges of the card front using Vintage Photo and Antique Paper DOX inks.

The sunny sunflower stamp is from Sizzix.  This stamp set was very easy to line up. The postage stamps are from Spellbinders.

While I had my supplies at hand, I made this CAS version, inspired by the lower right corner of the mood board.  I used a "sympathy" sentiment just so I could have a card on hand.  You never know when you'll need one and I'd rather make them when my heart isn't hurting.

I look forward to seeing how you're inspired over at the Double D Challenge.
Here's the prize that you could win when you play along.

Fun With Shapes ~ Double D Challenge

Hello crafty friends ~ It's hard to believe that summer is nearing its end.  The flowers in the gardens are blooming their last blooms, getting ready to rest for the winter.  But here I digress.  It's Wednesday, so that means Double D Challenge has a new challenge for you, and this one will get your creative wheels turning, as the theme is "SHAPES".

I admit to being stumped by this challenge at first.  Finally I started browsing Pinterest and found a card using flags that were rectangle in shape.  I have some of those!!

In fact, how many shapes do you see on this card?  Triangles, circles, ovals, rectangles and stars.

Crisis averted.  I love how this card came out and I hope you'll find some creative inspiration using this wonderful mood board that Darlene put together.

Here's the prize you could win when you play along:

I can't wait to see what you come up with for this fun challenge over at Double D Challenge.  It's always a joy looking at your cards in the line up.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
