Starfish Wishes ~ Double D

Good morning friends ~  It's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges and the theme is "For the Kiddos".

I'm not sure why I dragged my feet so, while deciding what I wanted to make for a card.  Perhaps because the inspiration tile was all Disney characters and I don't own anything Disney related.

I went out on a limb and cut these starfish shapes out of white cardstock, which I then colored using DOX inks, adding the spots with a copic marker.  The faces are stamped with my favorite faces from Peachy Keen Stamps.  Seriously folks, these faces can be used on just about everything and they're so cute!

These happy little starfish are all sunning themselves on a stenciled beach.

Here's an inspiration tile to help you on your way:

Don't let the Disney characters throw you off course.  The cards can be anything for kids, so have fun with this challenge.  You'll find more amazing inspiration at Double D Challenges.

Love & Gratitude ~ CCS

Good morning friends ~  Today's card is a quick and easy, elegant A2 sizedgate-fold I made for Cutcardstock.

I pulled out these pretty flowers from Pinkfresh Studio called "Delighted For You", and did a bit of soft stenciling.

I placed the flowers over a Decorative Circle, also from Pinkfresh Studio, to act as a doily.

Everything was glued onto the left side of a gate-fold card, which I covered with printed paper from my stash.

If you want to see more details on how this card came together, you can visit the Cutcardstock blog.

Frida Loves Frosty ~ Double D Challenge

February is celebrated as the LOVE month.  I LOVE February because my daughter was born on Valentine's day, 31 years ago!  Double D is starting a new challenge using the theme of "HEARTS", so this challenge came super easy to me.

I pulled out an older Stampingbella stamp called Frida Loves Frosty.  I've always adored this sweet Tiny Townie image.

I colored the image with the lightest Copic colors I could find in my marker bucket.  The stenciled hearts on my card are a little more subtle, but definitely visible.

Nothing like a CAS card to start the year off.

I do hope you'll play along with Double D Challenge.
Here is the inspiration board to help you get started:

My inspiration comes from the bottom left panel.
And here is the prize that's being offered to the challenge winner by random draw.

Enjoy your February!

Quite Nice!

Hello crafty friends!  My dear friend Marcia is hostess for the current Color Hues challenge using Sage and Pink, so I couldn't let this challenge pass me by!

I pulled out Pinkfresh Studio Charming Floral Border to make my card.

I used Peeled Paint and Spun Sugar DOX inks to do the stenciling, over gold embossing.  The background was made using PFS Argyle stencils.

The black striped strip is my neutral.  The sentiment is an oldie from Papertrey Ink.

There's still a few days left to join in on this lovely challenge.

Double D & Altenew Collaboration Challenge

Good morning friends~ I'm tickled pink to be joining in on a collaboration challenge with Altenew, along with the entire Double D Challenge design team!  This is truly a challenge you won't want to miss, as there are multiple prizes to be won.  You'll find more details at the end of my post.
The theme for Double D Challenges is "Stencils".

We were generously "gifted" the choice of one of the Build-A-Garden collections to work with, so I chose Build-A-Garden:  Morning Asters.

Each Build-A-Garden collection includes stamps, dies, stencils and a mini blending brush.  I used colors from Altenew's Spring Bouquet Crisp Dye Ink Mini Cube Set to stamp and stencil the flower colors.  I splattered on a bit of the Magenta colored ink over top of the flowers and then die cut them out using the coordinating dies.

I cut the white background using the Mix and Match Frames Die Set to create the focal point, stamping the sentiment in the center and then attaching the flowers over the frame.  This was then mounted to an A2 sized card front with a panel of yellow gingham printed paper, to bring out the yellow in the centers of the flowers.

You can find all the products I've listed below at Altenew

Beautifully Stenciled Christmas Florals ~ Spellbinders

Hello friends ~  I'm delighted to be sharing today's cards I made using products from Spellbinders newest Classic Christmas release.

I had the opportunity to work with the Christmas Florals Stencils & Sentiments dies.  Can I just say, I'm smitten with this stencil set!  I pulled out so many colors of Distress Oxides Inks, my craft room was one big mess, haha! But one good mess.  ;0)  Let me show you the cards I made.
Card #1:
I did all the stenciling for three cards I'm sharing with you today using the following colors of DOX inks:  Salvaged Patina, Broken China, Worn Lipstick, Candied Apple, Dried Marigold, Rusty Hinge, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain.
In Focus:
Christmas Florals is a 5 stencil set and the details are incredible!!  I cut the first panel out using the coordinating die set, which includes all the finely cut sentiments you'll see on each card.  I cut two layers using the die to add stability and thickness to the card.  Check out that sentiment strip.  I love the delicate lettering on the sentiment dies!

Card #2:
I die cut the stenciled image out again for card #2 and simply mounted it onto a layered card base using black and red.
The red card really pops in real life!

Card #3:
For the third card, I wanted to keep the panel whole, just mounting it to an A2 sized card base.  Easy peasy!!

Thank you for starting your week off with me and spending part of your day visiting my blog.  I appreciate you guys!!

I hope you enjoyed your visit here today, and I especially hope you'll stop by Spellbinders to see their entire Classic Christmas release and all the New Arrivals.

Something New ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends.  Do you ever feel like you want to break from the norm of card making and freely create?  When I feel that way, I get inky and typically make some kind of altered art or mixed media project.  I've never shared those types of projects on my blog before, but then I thought, "why not?"

"Art" is a process that all creators develop, grow and learn through.  I'm the first to confess that I'm not very good at trying new techniques, but I do enjoy the freedom of the creative process of using lots of different mediums from time to time.

I'm using today as a start of something new on my blog.  Welcome to "MIXED MEDIA MONDAY"!

Life is full of mountains and valleys.  Every day, it's up to us to choose how we respond to all the events that happen in life.  I can easily get distracted by the negatives, allowing fear and worry to set in.  Thankfully, I'm beginning to recognize more quickly, when I'm in that negative pattern, and I turn to the God who holds all things together.  So, my word for today is "hope".

On this page of my art journal, I started by laying down watercolors, blending them together by spraying the page with water and turning the book.  Once I was happy with the colors, I set the journal aside to dry.  I stenciled text and images using Stamperia's Book Stencil and started layering papers from my scrap box.  I stamped more text onto the largest piece of paper and ripped and distressed the edges.

The die cuts are from an ephemera pack from Stamperia, that have been sitting around for far too long, waiting to be used. I added some while gel pen accents to the leaves, letters and various areas on the page.

I hope that you enjoyed this new series.  I won't be posting a project every Monday.  My goal is to share something new a couple times each month.

I've linked some products that I used below.  The art journal that I used has stone pages, so it doesn't matter what type of medium you use in your creative journey, the pages won't warp or curl.
