Vintage Christmas Tags ~ Mixed Media Monday

Good morning friends~  It's been a while since I've done a Mixed Media Monday post so I thought I'd pop in and share some vintage style Christmas tags I made recently.
I participated in a box swap a couple of months ago where a box of unwanted supplies were gathered up in a flat rate box and shipped around to about 12 crafters.  Each crafter, upon receiving the box would take out what they wanted from the box and put the rest back into the box, adding in their own supplies that were no longer wanted or being used.  I was lucky enough to find these amazing vintage 3D images in the box.  In fact, I got two brand new packages of them!

I die cut two tags using Sizzix Framed Tags by Tim Holtz out of white and soft blue cardstock.  I ran both blue tags through my die cutting machine using a very old Sizzix Alterations Vintage Postcard embossing folder, also from Tim Holtz. Using a brayer, I added Wedding Dress ink from Memento over the top of the embossing making the raised areas of the words stand out.

I added a strip of bold lined paper from my scrapbox to the bottom of each tag and added Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges.  I glued these vintage images of boys having a snowball fight onto each tag.  The two tags together make the whole scene.  I added some Snow Glitter from Martha Stewart along the edges of the tags, and within the scene itself.

I added old ribbon and twine to finish the tags off.
These tags make me think of a Norman Rockwell painting.  I think they'll be super cute attached to Kraft paper wrapped packages.

Make It Merry Holiday Card & Tag Kit ~ ScrapbookPal

Have you ever purchased a card making kit?  The Make It Merry Limited Edition Holiday Card & Tag Kit is one you won’t want to miss! I'd like to show you how I get acquainted with, and create cards & tags using this Spellbinders kit, available at ScrapbookPal

Let’s get started.

There are loads of die cuts, stickers, sequins, gems, card stock and two sizes of pre-folded cards and envelopes included in this kit, plus so much more. I start by removing all the pre-printed die cuts and sorting them out on my table so I can have a clear view of what’s included in the kit.  Just look at all that holiday goodness!

I then start layering the die cut elements together, creating cluster focal points using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue and Foam Squares to add dimension.

Once I feel happy with the focal clusters, I add them to card fronts that have been covered with the design paper that is included in the kit.

I also like to add twine as well as other embellishments from the kit.

Some of the card fronts are layered with different papers.  See how I added movement to the banner by giving it a slight bend and adding liquid glue to each side of the banner.

There are endless possibilities in this kit!

I also made some gift tags, and I go through the same process to make the tags.

I used the Tim Holtz Framed Tags to cut the smallest size tag and added lots of die cuts and foam stickers, finishing them off with some twine.

I have tons of supplies left over, enough to make oodles of cards and gift tags for the holiday season.

I hope you’re inspired to pick up this card kit today and let the fun begin.

Here’s a list of products I used today that can be found at ScrapbookPal:

Retro Christmas Tags

Good morning friends~ I'm popping in today with some retro style Christmas tags I made using basic supplies from my stash.

The tag die is an old one from My Favorite Things, called Stitched Tag Stax.

Each tag is adorned with Stitched Banners from Elizabeth Craft Designs and a button card that I made using Papertrey Ink's Button Boutique.  A set that will never go out of style in my opinion.

The Santa and elf images are from Pretty Little Studio.  They have the most beautiful vintage and retro images there!

I cut the holly leaves out of printed scrapbooking paper and added little pre-made flowers to finish them off.

These tags turned out so fun!  I challenge you to dig into your stash and use what you have.

Happy 4th of July ~ Color Hues

I've been waiting for the opportunity to share this sweet red, white & blue tag I made, and when I saw that Color Hues was playing cards with my friend Michele from I Card Everyone, I just couldn't wait to join in on the fun!

I made this tag to go on a gift that I put together for my Secret Sister at church.
I used Spellbinders Just a Tweet and Little Chickadee and added them to a Papertrey Ink tag, to which I added an embossed polka dotted background.  The flowers are also from the Just A Tweet die set.

The back side of the tag got a layer of pretty patriotic printed paper.  (Say that three times fast!)

There's plenty of time for you to join in on the fun at Color Hues and be sure to check out Michele's post too!

I've linked the supplies I used below, for your convenience:

Spellbinders is also having a big Star-Spangled Sale!  Click on the banner below to see what's on sale.

Christmas Tag Fun~ TSOC

Hello friends~  The Sisterhood of Crafters is starting a new challenge today and it's all about "Holiday Gift Tags".  I enjoy making tags to add to Christmas gifts.
I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Teacup to make these darling gingerbread tags.  I saw these on Pinterest and knew I had to make them!  I hand drew the faces, so they're all a little wonky, but still cute as can be!

I used preprinted images for these easy tags!  I used Stitched Pinked Circles from Impression Obsession to make these.  They have a cardstock base, covered with glitter paper.

These tags have a shabby vintage style.  I used a tag die from Marianne Designs and the tree is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I added some pewter embossing to the edges of the trees.  The little doves in the trees sparkle with Silk Microfine Glitter.  They are from Dee's Distinctively Dies.  See the cute pom-pom border on the bottom of the tags?  I picked that up at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  So vintage and sweet!

For the tag base on these, I used Vintage Calligraphy set by Yvonne Creations.  I added a pine sprig from Echo Park, Holly leaves and berries from Poppystamps and the leaping dear from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Finally, these cute birdhouse tags are made using Spellbinders Build A Winter Birdhouse.

Here are a list of handy links you can use to find all the supplies I used to make these and more:

This is my last post for The Sisterhood of Crafters, as I'll be stepping down from the team.  Life has been getting busier and it was time to make some changes.
I want to give a BIG thank you to Darlene and Diane for having me on this amazing team.  I've enjoyed making new friends and being inspired by their many talents.

Come see all the fun tags that my talented team mates have made and join in on the fun!

Santa's Helper Gift Tags ~ TSOC ~ Christmas / Winter

Good morning friends~  I've got some Christmas tags for you today using the new challenge going on over at The Sisterhood of Crafters "Anything Goes Christmas or Winter" challenge.

I got the Sizzix dies called Santa's Helper from Tim Holtz back in July and couldn't wait to use them so it's actually mid summer as I type this. This seems weird to me that you'll be reading this post when it's cold and we could possibly have snow on the ground.  Anyway, here's each of the tags I made for this challenge:

There are lots of little pieces in this set so I cut each of the package dies out of 5 different colors of cardstock and alternated colors while I assembled the gifts.

You can stack them or use them separately and there are different size gifts so this set is very versatile.  You could also use these gifts for birthday or any other gift giving occasion.  You could also use the skinniest gift as a book die and line them up on a shelf.  I think I need to try that!

This darling little elf stole my heart last season when it was first released and I didn't want another season to go by without him coming to stay at my house. I think he's just precious!

Now it's YOUR turn to play along.  You can find all the details at The Sisterhood of Crafters or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Tag, You're It! DRU Challenge

Good morning everyone and happy first day of March!  It's the beginning of the month so that means that there's a new challenge starting up over at the DRU Challenge blog.  This week the theme is "Tag, You're It!"
I had so much fun using Elizabeth Craft Designs Macaron's, I ended up making a whole gift ensemble.

I started by making a few tags using Creative Expressions Stitched Craft Tag Dies.  This is my favorite "go-to" set because it has many different sizes and shapes of tags with cute toppers.
Creative Expressions - Stitched Collection - Tags Craft Die
I cut the ECD Macaron's out of colored cardstock and added a bit of coordinating Distress Inks around the edges of each outer die.  For the frosting part, I ran the dies through my Xyron and added Elizabeth Craft Designs Silk Microfine Glitter, again in matching colors.  The lovely cake stand is from Elizabeth Craft Designs Christmas Pudding set.  Isn't it darling with the striped paper details?

The gable box is from Sizzix.

This set makes me think of sweet confections you might find in a darling pastry shoppe.

I also wanted to remind you that Dies R Us now has a sister store with warehouses in the USA and Canada called Didi Crafts They have Marianne Designs dies in their store all the time!

They will ship to both the US and Canada.  Didi Crafts will carry some of the same products as DRU, but most will be different.  Now our Canadian friends don't have to worry about huge taxes or shipping fees. How great is that!?!  We'd love for you to visit by clicking on the links above or by clicking here.
