Mixed Media Monday ~ Sweater Weather

Breezy days...
Pumpkin Latte's...
Nothing better than sweater weather

Welcome back to Mixed Media Monday (MMM)!  Today's page celebrates the wonderful scents and sights of fall.  For this entry in my stone paper art journal, I ink blended Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Gathered Twigs DOX inks to the background, adding polka dots and vines, using stencils from Heidi Swapp and Create Happiness Borders 1 stencil.  I then stamped text over the background using a stamp from Create Happiness Elements stamp set.

I die cut this wonderful, Into The Blooms ~ Pumpkin from Papertrey Ink out of white card stock and added more of the same DOX inks, using blending sponges.  I randomly stamped a bit of text over the pumpkin and distressed the edges of the pumpkin again, using Gathered Twigs DOX Ink.

The leaves are and older set from My Favorite Things.  I cut the leaves from white cardstock and blended lots of fall colored DOX inks until I was happy with the colors.  I let them dry and then stamped the veins using the coordinating stamps from MFT.

I created the sentiment on my computer and cut the words into strips.  I added some white gel pen edges to the words to make them stand out better.  The loopy twine was the same color as the twine bow, but I dipped it in DOX ink that I squished onto my glass mat and sprayed with water.  I let the twine absorb all the color then wrapped it around a pen and let it dry.  I then added it to the pumpkin, added the twine bow and topped it off with an old button from my stash.  I finished it off by adding some white splatters using Dina Wakely White Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

I'm not 100% thrilled with how this turned out but you've gotta trust the process and learn along the way.  There are a few spots that I had to strategically cover.  I tried using alcohol ink on this page but discovered that alcohol ink does not work well on porous paper.  Lesson learned!  Thankfully, it's mostly hidden.

Retro Halloween Greetings

I have four cards for you today, all the same but different.  I have some crafty friends that like all things retro and vintage, so I made them Halloween cards to bring cheer to their day.
I used older, patterned papers from my stash, as I'm determined to use it up.

I added some very old loopy ribbon to the edges of the center strip of paper.

The sentiment is die cut out of black glitter paper using Memory Box Haunted Happy Halloween and the die cuts are from Simple Stories Pumpkin Bits & Pieces.

These cards are too cute to spook!

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

I hope you enjoyed todays offering.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! It's Pumpkin Season!

Good morning, friends.  Are you enjoying all the fall feels?
*PUMPKIN LATTE'S
*PUMPKIN BREAD
*PUMPKIN STEW
*PUMPKIN SEEDS
*PUMPKIN SPICE EVERYTHING!

I'm playing along with Color Throwdown with this card I made using Papertrey Ink Into The Blooms:  Pumpkins.

The background is stamped using a very old rubber stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms called Newspaper Ads.  I miss CHF.  They had some of the best stamps and they had a good selection of vintage stamps, back before vintage became as popular as it is today.

No need for explaining any instructions on this quick and easy card.  It's pretty straight forward.

Here's the list of supplies I used: ;0)

You can play along at Color Throwdown, there's plenty of time.

Orange & Black Gnome Globe ~ Double D Challenges

It's challenge time over at Double D Challenges!  The theme for this challenge is "Orange & Black".

Gnomes are so fun!  Especially when they've moved inside a little globe I had sitting around. I wonder if they realize they're being watched??

I used Marianne Designs Gnomes, Honeybee Stamps Snow Globe and Frantic Stampers Spiderweb Corner to make this fun card.

The "Boo" is from Elizabeth Craft Designs Ghosts.  I did a little doodling around the outside edge of the globe and sponged on a bit of white ink to the inside part of the globe.

Now it's your turn!
Here's the photo to help inspire you:

Spellbinders Flea Market Finds ~ Mixed Media Monday

My projects today give focus to Spellbinders Flea Market Finds Christmas release from Cathe Holden.  If you know me at all, you know I love anything vintage and everything in this release has me wishing for more!

I made this mixed media entry into my stone paper art journal from Create Happiness.

The Home For The Holidays 6x9" paper pad is filled with nostalgia and holiday charm!  I covered the journal page using this sheet of advertisement and distressed around the edges.  I stamped some script, randomly over the page and added some white polka dots using texture paste and a polka dot stencil from Heidi Swapp.

I also stamped some images using Compliments of the Season Clear Stamp Set and added this amazing Christmas tree die cut from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die Cuts, along with a stamp image from the same pack.

I finished the corners off using a bit more of the beautiful, patterned paper.  I simply cut a small square, ripped it corner to corner and added Distress Oxide Ink to the edges.  It looks like a treasured keepsake from a Christmas event long ago.

Next up are a few postcards I made using the Compliments of the Season Clear Stamp Set, more amazing images cut from the Home For The Holidays 6x9" Paper Pad and die cuts from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die cuts.

These post cards practically made themselves because the images in the paper pad are so perfect, I didn't want to add too much and risk covering the image.

Do you see the bells in the top left corner of this post card?  Do they look real or what??  They're die cuts so this post card is completely flat and can be mailed using a postcard stamp.

For this slimline card, I simply cut a piece of the printed paper from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad using a Fluted Classics Slimline Etched Die and cut the sentiment out of the same page, layered it and added the gold bar die cut to the bottom.  Super easy and fast!

I really loved how all of these came out and enjoyed working with this release so much!  I hope you enjoyed this post too.

Forest Mouse

I was playing around in my craft room the other day, embracing fall with this leaf shaped card I made, using Marianne Designs Tree & Leaf die.

I created the forest scene in the background using Cottage Cuts Mushrooms & Greenery.

Elines Mice from Marianne Designs is the star of the show!

He's carrying his lantern from Eline's Christmas Decorations.

His dapper trousers are cut from plaid paper using Eline's Christmas Outfits.

A card just for fun!  Happy Fall!

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:

Be Still And Know ~ Mixed Media Monday

"Be still and know that I am God".

Oh, how many times in my life, I've had to pause and reflect on this verse from Psalm 46:10.

*I am a worrier....
*I am emotional....
*I fear.... a lot....
*I breath....
*I pray....
*I trust....
*I learn to be still and know that God is God!

This was a page from my art journal that I did when my daughter was in the third trimester of her pregnancy, but we were so filled with the unknown.  We knew from the start, that her pregnancy was not a perfect pregnancy, and that baby was measuring small.  None of her pregnancies have been normal, and they've all ended up in loss.  Why would this one be any different?  Many times, I had to lean into God and learn to be still and trust Him for the outcome.

I started this page of my Create Happiness Art Journal, by ink blending tumbled glass and antique linen DOX inks to the background of the page.  Using the Book Stencil from Stamperia, I added Crackle Texture Paste randomly over the page and set it aside to dry.  I love the look of the crackled texture.

I started layering various die cuts from Tim Holtz Ephemera packs, as well as some greens that I cut out of printed papers found in my scrap box and a very old leaf die from Cheery Lynn.  The mushrooms and butterfly are leftovers from Simple Stories Vintage Foliage Bits.

I perched this handsome little dude from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Paper Dolls onto the mushroom and stamped the Bible verse and cut it apart as I wanted the look of text blocks to build the sentiment.

I was quite pleased with how this turned out and I hope that you like it too.

I'm so happy to share that our little miracle baby is home from the hospital and is doing well.
He's still a tiny, little peanut, under 4 pounds, but he's gaining weight every day.  He has stolen our hearts.

To say that dear hubby and I are proud grandparents is an understatement.

I'm adding this page to the Cut It Up Challenge ~ BIG!
