12 Kits of Occasion ~ May

Hello all!  I can't believe we're at the end of May already and with Memorial Day behind us, they say that's the official "unofficial" start to summer.
It seems like the warm weather is taking its time getting here but Tracey's sweet kit this month softened the mood for me and made me happy to stay inside playing with paper.

Her kit was filled with everything needed to celebrate the month of June from grad to dad and student to teacher.  Lovely plaid papers and cute designs to color.

This mondo bloom from Ellen Hutson is so lovely colored in colors that coordinated with the plaid.

The plaids are so wonderful, I had a hard time cutting into them.  I left this girl uncolored on purpose.  I'm going to send it to my great little niece when she starts school this fall.   I know she'll enjoy coloring it.

These feathers Tracey included in the kit showcase the colors of the papers wonderfully so I kept this card CAS.

I still have lots of leftovers waiting for inspiration from my creative team members so be sure to visit the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how everyone was inspired.  Thanks Tracey for a great kit!

Lovely Floral Lantern Terrarium

Happy hump-day everyone!  With Monday being a holiday, this week is just zooming by!

I was inspired by this colorful image from Time Out Challenges

I've been seeing so many beautiful terrarium cards online lately and thought that I could use this lantern die from Gina Marie Designs to create something similar.  The flowers are from Papertrey Ink.

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:

Remembering Those Who've Served

Hello and Happy Memorial Day weekend!  I thought I'd share a couple of patriotic cards I made recently as we remember those who gave it all so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have in our country today.

When I visit the cemetery, it's very humbling to look across the hillside and see all the American flags waving at the foot of the graves of the people who served our counrty and fought for the freedom of others.

I'm proud to say that my dad, my husband and my brother-in-law all served.

My dad and brother-in-law served in the US Army and my husband served in the US Marine Corps.

Once a marine, you're always a marine, so I've heard said.  But I believe that to be true with all branches of our military.

I hope while you're out and about enjoying an extra day off from work this week, that you'll remember those who've served and gave it all, and those who are in service now.  It's a great sacrifice for our men and women and their families.
It's the ultimate sacrifice.

God Bless!

Tangled Tinsel ~ Snarky Christmas Card

Good morning friends~  Today's card was made for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~ "S is for Snarky Christmas".  I didn't think I was going to be able to participate in this challenge because I didn't have any snarky stamp sets but then I remembered this adorable set by Avery Elle called Dear Santa.
This frisky feline makes me think of Zsa Zsa Gabore.  I can just hear her saying "Don't get your tinsel in a tangle, Dahling".

I tried to make her as femine as possible, right down to her pink glittered hat and bow to her blue eye shadow and glittered rouge.

I did a bit of stenciling on the background (pink on pink) using a stencil from My Favorite Things and Distress Oxide Ink in Worn Lipstick.  This sassy gal is framed using Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles and Dotted Scallop Rectangles.  The sentiment is heat embossed in silver and clear sequins were added to give it that final girly touch.

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:
Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~ "S is for Snarky Christmas"
Word Art Wendesday ~ Anything Goes

Beautiful Mom Tag ~ Dies R Us

Good morning friends~  A new challenge is starting over at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog and this week's theme is "Tags".

I started by cutting a Tutti Designs Nested Stitched Tag and added the Elizabeth Craft Designs Rose  cut using double sided adhesive on top.  First I removed the outline part of the release paper and sprinkled on black Silk Microfine Glitter.  Then I removed the inner parts of the release paper and sprinkled on True Red Silk Microfine Glitter to make this stunning, glittery rose.  The word "Mom" is cut from shiny gold cardstock using Cheery Lynn Designs "Mom" .

The winner will receive a gift card to Dies R Us.

Birthdays Galore!

Hello everyone ~  I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made for this weeks Win it Wednesday challenge at PTI.
The challenge is to make a card using your favorite layout.  My go to style is pretty plain but layered.  I used stamps from Petite Places: Sweet Shoppe and  seed pack elements from Garden Variety which is sadly discontinued.

While I'm here I thought I'd share another card celebrating Simon Says Stamps 10th Anniversary.
I used their Taco Party stamp set, which I received as a freebie with one of my orders.  My son loves tacos so this card was perfect for him!  I colored the image using Prismacolor Pencils.

I'll also be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
Work It Wednesday ~ Pet Project

Be Still and know.... Dies R Us ~ Flowers

Good morning and happy May Day!
Dies R Us is starting a new challenge and we're looking for projects using "Flowers".

I pulled out the pretty Elizabeth Craft Designs Rose  and placed it on top of a soft blue cardstock panel that was cut using one of the dies from Memory Box Baptisia Collection.  Super simple and quick!

While I had the dies out, I made a second card with a slightly different design and added a butterfly from Poppystamps Stitched Butterfly Trio cut from patterned paper.

Here's a list of products I used that can be found at Dies R Us:

Don't forget, the theme is "Flowers".  You couldn't ask for an easier challenge so come join the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog!
