Remembering Those Who've Served

Hello and Happy Memorial Day weekend!  I thought I'd share a couple of patriotic cards I made recently as we remember those who gave it all so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have in our country today.

When I visit the cemetery, it's very humbling to look across the hillside and see all the American flags waving at the foot of the graves of the people who served our counrty and fought for the freedom of others.

I'm proud to say that my dad, my husband and my brother-in-law all served.

My dad and brother-in-law served in the US Army and my husband served in the US Marine Corps.

Once a marine, you're always a marine, so I've heard said.  But I believe that to be true with all branches of our military.

I hope while you're out and about enjoying an extra day off from work this week, that you'll remember those who've served and gave it all, and those who are in service now.  It's a great sacrifice for our men and women and their families.
It's the ultimate sacrifice.

God Bless!

I Card Everyone said...

I visited Arlington Memorial Cemetery when I was 15 years old. The sight left an imprint on my soul. We 'attended' a funeral of another lost soldier from Viet Nam. Even from a distance, you couldn't help but feel the loss, and heartbreak.
Thank your men for their service, and God bless them that they came home.
Your cards are wonderful, Birgit!

What a beautiful collection of gorgeous cards, really love them all. Both my father and husband served our wonderful country, so proud, just as you must be of your family. Please thank them for their service!

Always Remember! These are really beautiful creations! My Dad served but no one else from the younger generations in my family. Many hometown parades today to celebrate and honor all Veterans, past, present and future. All great cards, but I adore that 2nd one the flag made with ink stripes, so lovely!

These are just wonderful, it is so humbling when you think of all that gave up their lives for our freedom. It is true about all the branches I think, my hubby retired from Air Force after 23 years and ended up working for the air force as a civilian now, I think that way of life is hard to give up once you have given so much time to it, and it is a whole family affair, it effects everyone! May God grant your husband safety and guidance as he finishes out his service.
