Art Journal Entry Using Flea Market Finds

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I'm here mid-week, sharing a page I recently created in my Create Happiness Art Journal.

I typically would save this type of post for Mixed Media Monday, but just after creating this page, Spellbinders advertised their Clearance Sale and they're offering an extra 15% off at checkout.  So there you go!

I wanted to work with Cathe Holden's previously released Flea Market Finds collection (which can now be found in the Clearance section) to create a page in my art journal, but I was short on time, so I used very few "mixed media" techniques.

This page came together quickly by covering the page using this pretty piece of printed paper from the Florals Palette Sampler.

I added some ephemera bits, creating a pocket using one of the pretty pieces from Meadow Lark Miscellany Pre-printed Die Cuts.  I tucked a few more die cut pieces into the pocket along with a cute photo I found online and printed on my home printer.

I stamped the title using the Miscellany Words Clear Stamp Set and a stamp image and postal cancellation mark from the Handle With Care Clear Stamp Set.

The warm colors on this page make my heart happy.

I've included affiliate links if you'd like to do some shopping. By clicking on these links, you're taken directly to the products.  If you choose to purchase, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.  This commission helps me to continue to bring new content to you and also helps me to keep my affiliation with Spellbinders.  I thank you and appreciate your support.

Heart Shaped Treat Boxes ~ ScrapbookPal

Hello peeps!  Treat boxes are on the top of my list of favorite things to make.  They're so fun to make, so fun to give, and hopefully so fun for the recipient to receive.

The Bunch of Blossoms dies and stamps from Concord & 9th made for beautiful decorations for the Happy Heart Box Die, also from Concord & 9th, that was released last year.

I started by creating the three Happy Heart Boxes using heavy weight cardstock.  These boxes went together very easily and they're oh, so adorable!

I cut out several flowers using the Bunch of Blossoms dies in different colors of cardstock.  I blended Distress Oxide Inks onto each of the petals and leaves.  I then glued the bottom two layers of petals together and added dimensional foam squares to the two top layers of the flowers, which included the stamen and the top petals.

Once the flowers were assembled, I gave the flowers and leaves a spritz of gold shimmer spray. I arranged the flowers and leaves onto each of the boxes and added a few gold leaves to a couple of the boxes.

I stamped the sentiments from the Bunch of Blossoms Stamp Set onto cardstock and cut them out using the coordinating dies from the Bunch of Blossoms die set and popped them up using dimensional foam squares.

These turned out super cute and are ready to fill with sweet treats for my crafty friends.

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  You can find all the products I used linked below.

Snow ~ Double D Challenges

Good morning friends.  There's a new challenge starting up over at Double D Challenges and the theme is "Snow".
For my card I pulled out a retired set from Elizabeth Craft Designs called "Snow Globe".  It hasn't gotten nearly enough use since I got it way back in 2017.

I added Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the rooftops.

Please be sure to visit the Double D Challenges blog to see more amazing inspiration from my talented teammates.

And, for further inspiration, here's the photo collage to help inspire you:

Make Your Own Sunshine ~ Mixed Media Monday

Good morning friends and welcome back to another Mixed Media Monday.  Have you been keeping tucked in at home because of all the crazy weather patterns that we've all been experiencing here in the US?  I know for me, winters can be long and cold, so today's project is meant to bring some sunshine into your soul.

I found these wonderful K & Company "Meadow" die cuts from artist Susan Winget that jumped off the page over at A Cherry On Top.  The colors are so warm and vibrant and the images of flowers, butterflies, birds and ladybugs evoked thoughts of SPRING to me.

These die cuts were the inspiration for this Mixed Media Monday entry in my Create Happiness Art Journal.

I started by covering a double page spread using older papers that I found in my stash from My Minds Eye "Skies The Limit" collection.  The rose and yellow paper matched the colors in the die cuts perfectly.  You would almost think they were part of the same collection, except that I've probably had this paper pack for several years.

I stamped some text and leaves in the background using stamps from Leaves & Film stamps set from Stamperia.  Using Modern Alphabet dies from Scrapbook.com, I cut the words out of brown cardstock.  The word "Sunshine" is cut from this warm, creamy yellow Glitter Paper from DCWV.

I played around with the layout of the die cuts until I was happy with it, then layered the word "Sunshine" across the bottom of the two pages.

I added white gel pen details to some of the flower petals and called it complete.

This project is so cheerful and springy.  It makes my heart happy!  I hope it makes your heart smile too, with the hope of spring and new beginnings.

Pinkfresh Studio Phrase Builder: HAPPY ~ Scrapbookpal

Hello friends~  I'm up on the Scrapbookpal blog today with a sweet project featuring Pinkfresh Studio Phrase Builder:  HAPPY.

Phrase Builder:  HAPPY Hot Foil Plate is a 9 piece set of sentiments that will cover just about every occasion you could possible need, including Mother's & Father's Day, holidays, anniversary, birthday and more.

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I chose to use the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment plates with my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Systemusing Rose Gold Glimmer Hot Foil on smooth white cardstock.

I paired the Phrase Builder Plates with Pinkfresh Studio Citrus Bloom Clear StampsStencils and Dies to create my card. I used Distress Oxide Inks to stencil the images.  I've listed all the colors I used below in the supply list.

The A2 sized card base was created using Altenew's Brushed Rose Metallic Cardstock, polka dotted vellum and 80lb smooth white cardstock.  The Brushed Rose cardstock is the perfect match for the foiling.  Love it when that happens!  I used Scor-Tape to adhere each layer together, except for the layer of vellum, where I used Scrapbook Adhesives EZ Runner Vellum Tape.

I adhered two flowers flush to the front of the card using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue and two flowers were adhered using Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam Squares to add dimension.

You're Doing A Great Job! ~Celebrating Marcia

Good morning friends!  Color Hues just started a new challenge and I couldn't let these colors pass me by without playing along for two reasons.

Reason #1:  My dear friend Marcia, from Marcia's Stamping Pad recently became one of their design team members and I wanted to celebrate with her.

Reason #2:  The color palette is gorgeous!

I started by hot foiling the Charming Floral Border Hot Foil Plate, using Gold Foil onto smooth white cardstock.  Using the coordinating stencils, I sponged on Spun Sugar DOX Ink.  I took a little liberty here and added Squeezed Lemonade to the flower centers, thinking they were going to come out soft and barely noticeable.  Well, they're noticeable!    If this isn't in keeping with the rule at Color Hues, I understand if you have to remove my entry.

I cut graduating circles out of pink, gold mirror and white cardstock and found this pre-foiled sentiment from PinkFresh Studio Foiled Sentiments in my die cut box.  I thought this sentiment was perfect to celebrate Marcia's joining the design team.

I layered all the elements onto an A2 size vellum card base.

To make the flowers stand out a little more, I added a white cardstock panel to the back panel inside the card, so when the card is closed, you can see it as a soft background.

I hope you'll join in on the fun over at Color Hues and celebrate all their new designers, as they have three new members!

Here's a list of products I used today that can be found over at Scrapbook.com!

BIG Birthday Celebration at Double D Challenges

Welcome friends!  I'm so glad you've stopped in today.  Double D Challenges has been going strong for seven years so this challenge will be a fun birthday celebration, filled with lots of prizes.

I was tickled pink to pull out this Balloon Party Animal from Spellbinders.  This is such a cute die!

I embossed the background using the Circle Illusion 3D Embossing Folder from Spellbinders, and cut some circles using their Fluted Classic Circle dies to layer the balloon animal.

I stenciled in some puffy clouds and added a couple of die cut clouds as well.  The sentiment is from Layered Mix & Match Sentiments.

My friends at Double D Challenges would love to have you join in on this fun celebration.

Here's the photo to help inspire you:
