Circle Illusion 3-D Embossing Folder ~ Spellbinders

Hello friends~  Spellbinders has recently released a new line of 3-D embossing folders and they are fun, fun!  They're made to work with the new Universal Plate System, but I discovered the right sandwich using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur.

For my first card, I embossed a piece of white cardstock using the Circle Illusion Embossing Folder.  I added a sweet slice of pie using Serve A Slice from the Pie Perfection Collection.

Look at the crips detail in the embossing.  I recently learned that if you lightly spray your cardstock before running it through the machine with the embossing folder, that will prevent the cardstock from cracking.

For my second card, I was inspired by the amazingly talented, Yana Smakula.  She recently made a video explaining "Analagous Color Schemes".   I've had a color wheel in my craft room for many months and rarely use it.  I was so intrigued, I just had to give it a try.

The flowers are cut using Petite Floral Potpourri.  The colors I used were Blue-Violet, Violet and Violet-Red.  What an interesting color combination, but I love it!

I also used the 60%, 40%, 20% theory of using color, which she also explained in her video.  You can watch Yana's video by clicking HERE.

For my final card, I turned to fall and one of my favorite die sets from Spellbinders to date.  It was such a joy to work with the Wagon Full of Fall die set again.  Mind you that I'm not rushing through summer!  But it's always good to think ahead.  As an added bonus, this die set is currently marked down to 40% off!

Cathe Holden Flea Market Finds ~ Spellbinders

Good morning, friends~ Spellbinders is bringing a new line of Cathe Holden products to you, called Flea Market Finds.  I'm just giddy over this entire collection!
Fair warning, this is a picture heavy post, so I hope you'll stick with me to the end.

Card #1 ~ This entire collection is vintage inspired, shabby chic, retro, mixed media, crafting goodness!

Card #2 ~ The colors and images are clear and crisp, and the quality is top notch!  I was thrilled to be one of the first designers to work with Cathe's new paper products.

Card #3 ~ Would you believe this stitched design is actually printed paper?  Look at the detail!

Card #4 ~ I used hinges from the ephemera pack and scored them so the shutter will open to reveal another sweet vintage surprise.

There are so many beautiful papers in the Florals Palette Sampler.  This is a 6x9" paper pad.

The die cuts from Happy Thoughts & Meadow Lark Miscellany die cuts packs are filled with beautiful vintage ephemera pieces.

For this card, I've used the Layered Vintage Floral Stencils to create the background, adding a couple of stamped images from the Handle With Care Clear Stamp Set.  The bird die is from Happy Thought Miscellany Die Cuts.

My final project is a little journal I made using brown paper bag card stock and some printer stationery for the pages, I had in my stash.  I embellished the front of the journal using paper from the Floral Palette Sampler and die cuts from both Happy Thoughts & Meadow Lark Miscellany die cut packs.

on the inside cover, I added a pocket and tucked in more of the vintage ephemera die cuts.  I stamped "Provisions" using a stamp from Miscellany Words Clear Stamp Set.  This set is filled with iconic words using beautiful vintage fonts.

I had a pack of old pewter book clips that have been sitting around for a while, so I decorated one up using more of the printed paper and die cuts.

If you made it this far, I thank you for hanging with me.  I appreciate all of you, and your kindness and love.

More of "Just Wanted To Say" from Spellbinders

Hello friends~  I'm back with a couple more cards I made using Spellbinders "Just Wanted To Say" collection.

For this card, I cut the "Little Chickadee" out of yellow cardstock and added more detail using Copic markers.  I die cut the "Stitched HI" and layered them, without adding any stitching.

Instead of adding the stitching to the letters, I adorned the letters with flowers that I cut using dies from the Picket Fences Card Kit of the Month.

I think this card turned out so cute!

I wanted to get a little more creative designing the bird for the second card.  I'm not sure what type of bird this would be, but if he looks familiar, let me know in the comments.

Spellbinders is celebrating their 20th anniversary all month long, so be sure to visit their website to see all the pretty new things and take advantage of their big sale and other discounted items.

"Just Wanted To Say"... ~ Spellbinders

Hello friends~ Do you enjoy feeding and watching the birds in your back yard?  I do!  Today, I'm introducing you to the new Spellbinders release, "Just Wanted To Say" collection.  Just Wanted to Say Collection is a gathering of sweet designs and sentiments to help you make creations that will perk up someone’s day. The mix of cutting dies, hot foil plate and stamps will help you to accomplish just that!

This collection is pure delight!  I adore this sweet little bird called.........
"Little Chickadee".  This is a set of 8 cutting dies that you can use to make your bird in any color you'd like.  Given the name, I designed the first bird to look like a Chickadee.  I cut the bird out of white cardstock and colored the pieces using Copic markers.

The Little Chickadee is perched atop the Stitched "Hi" die set.  These dies are wonderfully detailed on their own, so you can choose to either stitch them or not, the choice is yours!  I completed the sentiment using the "Just Wanted To Say" Glimmer hot foil plates.

The next card, I decided to make the Little Chickadee using yellow cardstock, adding more Copic marker details.

The papers I used in the backgrounds are papers from previous Card Kits.

There are 8 different sentiments to choose from in the "Just Wanted To Say Glimmer" hot foil plates.  You'll never be at a loss for words.

Walk Through the Woods Curio ~ DRU

Hello friends~  Sorry for two posts on the same day.  That doesn't happen very often, but this month, it's happened twice due to two design team schedules that are overlapping.  Anyway, if you're looking for Double D's post, look HERE.  If you're looking for Dies R Us, then you're in the right place.

There's a new challenge starting up over at Dies R Us and the theme is "Dads / Masculine".

I've been seeing a lot of these curio style cards on the internet lately and I realized that I have plenty of dies from Dies R Us, that will help me achieve the same look, starting with the Lawn Fawn Peekaboo Backdrop, cut out of brown textured cardstock.

I randomly stamped a piece of printed paper in soft inks to finish the background.  I then added an Impression Obsession Feather, that I inked using DOX ink, splattered with water and heat embossed the edges in gold.

The berry twig is from Cheery Lynn Designs Floral Bouquet Kit, a Dee's Distinctively Fower 3, and an Elizabeth Craft Designs Small Butterfly, which was also cut from printed scrapbook paper.

Here are the links I used to make today's project, found at Dies R Us:

While I had my supplies out, I ended up making one card for each season.  The card above is for SPRING.

Here is SUMMER:

Beach Time ~ Double D Challenges

Let's go to the beach!  Oh, how I enjoy going to the ocean, sitting on the beach watching the waves ebb and flow.  Double D Challenges is starting a new challenge today and the theme is "Beach Time"!

My mind goes in so many directions with a challenge like this, it's hard to decide which way to go.  Today I went tropical, using Elizabeth Craft Designs Palm Trees.

I started by making the background using PinkFresh Studio Layered Sunburst stencils and Papertrey Inks Ocean Background stamp set.  I tore the edges of a piece of kraft cardstock for the sand and added a trio of ocean treasures.

I added the Elizabeth Craft Designs Palm Trees, which includes this cozy hammock.  I'm imagining myself laying there right now sipping a fruity drink topped with a paper umbrella.

The sentiment is from Stampendous Ocean Wisdom, which I picked up at Hobby Lobby a few years back.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and I hope even more that you'll stop by the Double D Challenges blog to see more beachy inspiration from my talented teammates.  Then while you're there, you can join in on the fun!

Here's the inspiration board to help you get started:

Here's what you could win when you play along:
I'll also be adding this card to The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge, to create a seasonal landscape.

Spellbinders 20th Birthday Celebration!

Spellbinders is celebrating their 20th birthday today and they're celebrating with a huge party release.  They've pulled out all the stops and are bringing all the gifts to you!

Release the balloons!  These Color Block Balloons are filled with fun as they float out from the Surprise Box.

Notice the background?  I've used the Hand Drawn Scallops Embossing Folder on all three of my cards today.  I love it!!  I used Birthday Unboxing Sentiments Clear Stamps to stamp the sides of the box.

The Balloon Party Animal dies are adorable!!  I used the Birthday Unboxing Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set to add festive sentiments to each of my cards.

You have the option of using the Color Block Balloon dies or the solid balloon dies.  They're all included in one set.

This card is a little more elegant, using gold mirror card stock, black glitter card stock and white shimmer card stock.

It could be used to celebrate an anniversary, retirement or other special occasion.

This was a picture heavy and long post, so if you stuck with me, I thank you very much!!
