Up-cycled Greetings

So I've recently come across an old box of vintage greeting cards and ephemera from a local auction. As I was pondering and admiring the vintage greeting cards, it struck me to up-cycle them so they would have new life as a new greeting card. Here are a couple of cards I recently made using the old greeting cards and some of the paper ephemera.

This particular card I created using an old BINGO card and a dance ticket. I loved that the ticket said "Admit Gent & Lady". I added an awesome old photograph of a fine looking "Gent & lady". I finished it off with a rolled book paper rose.

The original vintage greeting card had this lovely set of roses on a clear overlay layered over fine, silver paper. I removed the overlay and framed it with a Spellbinders lacy frame and some book print on the bottom. I added the sentiment to the bottom banner style.
I'm eager to share more of my Up-Cycled Greetings with you soon. Thanks for visiting. Blessings~ Birgit

PTI ~Colored Vellum~ Make it Monday challenge

Well, it's been a long while since I've been able to participate in a challenge of any kind so when I saw Betsy Veldman's challenge for colored vellum flowers I was happy that I could join in on the fun. You must check out all the wonderful entries for this challenge at Nichole's blog.

Here's my entries for the challenge.

I used the Year of Flowers set using the pansy, daffodil and morning glories. I attached a piece of clear cardstock to create the window.
This is the inside of the card.

Since I had some flowers left over, I used them to make another card.
I just love the softness of the colors and that they're slightly translucent. Very pretty.
Thanks for stopping by. Blessings~ Birgit

MFT Guest Designer Challenge

The folks over at the My Favorite Things blog is having their monthly guest designer challenge. Following the sketch, here is my entry for this challenge.

Unfortunately, I was in need of a Sympathy card so I wanted this card to have a bit of a nostalgic, vintage-y feel.
I used the Inspired by the Front Porch, Tulip image and used some printed papers I had on hand. I added a bit of vintage lace and some gems. I didn't want it to be too flashy but elegant. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

PTI ~ Make It Monday Challenge

Today's challenge over at Nichole Heady's blog focused on creating a collage background. Dawn McVey gave an awesome video tutorial on how to build your collage background. All I can say is.... I'M ADDICTED!!!

I've always liked the look of a collage background and have tried it myself once, maybe twice. But, today's tutorial really helped me think outside the box! I couldn't wait to get to my craft room, still in my pj's and slippers and start creating. Here's my take on the collage background.

As you can see, I didn't deviate much from Dawn's design.
Here is the inside of the card:

Since the card base was made using Winter Wisteria, I opted to add a white writing space and dress it up a little.
All supplies used are from PaperTrey Ink.
*Ink Colors ~ Fine Linen, Winter Wisteria, Lemon Tart, Limeade Ice, Spring Moss, Dark Chocolate & black (embossed)
*Stamp sets used ~ Background Basics Text Style & Tin Type, Think Big Favorites #13, Postmarks, Rosie Posie & Birthday Basics
