Playing Along with PTI MIM & Darnell

Hello~  I'm popping in with a quick post to share the card I made using Melissa's Masked Heart Wreaths technique for PTI's Make-It Monday.  It's been quite a while since I've played along but I couldn't pass up this opportunity to give this technique a try.  I love Melissa's style and this technique!!

I used a heart from Limitless Layers 2 ~ Hearts Die Collection and stamped around the heart using images from Embellished Elegance.  I used an "Eyelet Stitches" edger from from Poppy Stamps for the bottom edge of the stamped card stock and put a piece of scrap design paper behind it.  The sentiment is from Big Hugs.  I added some ECD Silk Microfine Glitter in Vintage Pink to the die cut word.  Notice the tiny hearts from corner to corner?  I saw that little stamp in the Big Hugs set and just had to add some bitty hearts flowing from corner to corner to add more movement.

Following Darnell's lead, here's "Today's Two-fer".
I'll be adding this card to her NBUS challenge since the colored pencils I used are NBUS and I've colored on Kraft, just as she challenged us.  The colored pencils were my mom's and they are from Stampin' Up! and this was my first time using them.  I've always used my Crayola's. ;0)

The image is Altenew's Freesia.  I just love coloring this image on Neenah Desert Storm Card Stock.

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings~ Birgit

Yay, you tried the MIM technique! Your card turned out beautifully. Wonderful colors and sentiment. Your colored pencil colored freesia is so pretty. I have a tin of Crayola colored pencils that where my son's from elementary school. Still like using them from time to time!!

Both really gorgeous cards Birgit! I love everything about the first one, such pretty stamping around the heart and a fabulous sentiment. The Kraft card is so CAS and elegant, with a beautifully coloured flower.

Wow! The shading on the Freesia is fabulous. I need more practice with my colored pencils, but that gives me something to aspire to! :)

Oh, where to start! I missed that MIM challenge, but I'm bookmarking it because it looks like such fun! I really love how you masked the heart and stamped the beautiful bouquet around it. I also love the edging, the gingham DSP, and the genius addition of the hearts floating across from corner to corner! So much to admire, Brigit!

And your card for NBUS just makes my pee-pickin' heart smile! I love that you tackled the optional theme and used your mom's pencils. You ROCKED the technique, my friend! Because of your coloring skills, there is so much warmth and depth emanating from this simple CASlicious OLC! Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #8!! Hugs, Darnell

Birgit, both cards are lovely. Your masked heart is perfect with the glittered hugs, gingham and floating hearts corner to corner. Also, your colored Freesia is beautiful and a one-layer card (so challenging these days).

You did a beautiful job on the stamping of the heart, and I love the little hearts going off into the corners. So loving your coloring on the kraft type cardstock, I have been seeing more of it here lately and I really need to give it a try again!

Your beautiful cards have so many points to admire and case. I especially like the gingham, the hearts trail and edging on the first one. Your kraft coloring is perfect!

Hi Birgit, saw your card at Darnell's NBUS and hopped over for a closer look. I love the way you've done the framing of the heart on #1. Love the tiny hearts in the corner, and the sentiment raised across the heart surface as you've done it. Love that wonderful border over the red gingham too. The pencil work on #2 is just amazing, so well blended, and shading. It looks beautiful on the kraft base - just stunning. TFS
