Easter Treat Box ~ Double D

Hello friends!    It's the first Wednesday of the month so that means it's time for a new challenge over at DD Challenges.  Easter is the theme for the next two weeks, so pull out your bunnies, chicks, eggs and crosses and let's get crackin' on.  (Get it?  "Eggs".... "crackin'".)  Sorry, I couldn't resist, and I digress.

I made up a bunch of these dear little Easter Egg Boxes from Sizzix last year and left them undecorated, so when inspiration hit, I'd be ready to make them pretty.

Truth be told, I decorated this box last year as well, but never got around to sharing it on my blog, so I thought that this challenge was a good opportunity to share this project.  I still have 6 or 8 eggs waiting to be made pretty.

I covered the top of the kraft cardstock box with some pretty printed, vintage looking scrapbooking paper and went over the entire egg with walnut stain DOX ink.  A decorative strip of the same design paper and a length of vintage lace was wrapped around the outside of the cover.

The bunny is a rub-on that I picked up from Amazon.  This set of vintage Easter images came with like 24 sheets of rub-ons and there are many images per sheet.  I will never in my life time have time to use them all.  I will link them HERE if you want to check them out.

The flowers are a mix of flowers that I purchased from Really Reasonable Ribbon years ago.  I'm so glad to finally be putting some to good use.

Here's the inside of the box, ready to be filled with something sweet, I expect.

I do hope you'll stop over at Double D Challenges to see more inspiring work from the team and then join in on the fun.

Cute Little Animals ~ Double D Challenge

It's the first Wednesday of the month so that means it's time for Double D Challenges to start a new challenge.  This challenge is near and dear to my heart!
The theme is "Cute Little Animals".

You can't go wrong with cute little animals.  Am I right?  Recently I've found so many wonderful digital images on Etsy and this Retro Easter / Spring Digital Ephemera bundle from KB and Friends found it's way to my home printer.  Oh boy did I enjoy cranking up the printer, cutting and creating with these darling images!

I also had so much fun finding printed papers from my stash, creating different background layouts using them, and then adding the darling die cuts and ephemera pieces I had printed.

These cards couldn't have come together any easier or quicker.

So much so, that I made six cards in a jiffy!

Each one just as cute as the next.

Please check out all that KB and Friends has to offer and then check out the Double D Challenge blog.

Now it's your turn to make something cute.
Here's the inspiration photo to help you along:

And here's what you could win when you play along:

You'll find some amazing inspiration from my Double D team mates and the gallery is going to be full of cuteness for the next two weeks, so be sure to check in often!

Little Bunny Treat Boxes

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail......

and right into my craft room!

I had been wanting to make some treat boxes and these little Assorted Bunnies from Frantic Stamper were jumping right out of my craft cabinet, waiting to be used.

I was able to use up lots of retired patterned paper from Elizabeth Craft Designs making these four little boxes.

The Sizzix Gable Box made quick work for the boxes and the fun medallions adorning the fronts.

I made a belly band for each box using another retired but timeless die, a stitched scalloped edger.  Sorry, I don't know what company it's from as I've had them for ages on a magnetic board, so no packaging.  I also used up more of the sweet patterned paper to complete the band.

Each little bunny is striking a different pose.

Once the boxes are filled, I will tie them closed with this vintage lace seam binding I've hoarded for way too long.  The color matched perfectly!

I also cut a trio of tags in coordinating colors to personalize each box.

While it's fun to give treats at Easter time, I know the true miracle of Easter lies beyond the cross, beyond the grave, to the Risen Savior.  My Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!

I'll be adding these boxes to the following challenges:

Easter Whimsy

Hippity hoppity, Easter is on its way!  I've been finding so many fun things in my craft room since I've started cleaning it.  I really should do it more often, but cleaning takes away from my creative time.

Truth be told, I start to clean and then I find some marvelous treasure and I sit down and start making.  Such is the life for a creative, I guess.  I surrender!

I found these darling leftover snippets from a 12 Kits of Occasion from so long ago and set them on my desk.  I happily discovered that the colors matched the colors on this vintage lamb I had printed and cut a while ago.

A match made in heaven!

Bring on card #2!  More of those snippets, hard at work.

And the inside greeting for both cards:

Our temps have dipped back down so I guess I'm stuck inside.  I wonder what treasures I'll unearth today??

While I'm at it, I'll be entering one of these cards into the following challenges:

Krafty Chicks Challenge ~ Anything Goes

Vintage Easter Box Ornament ~ Double D Challenges

The Easter season is upon and my friends at Double D Challenge want to help inspire you.  There's a new challenge starting today and the theme is "Easter".

My make for this challenge was this sweet, vintage inspired Easter box ornament, using lots of found goodies in my craft room.  I didn't use any new supplies to make this, as I've made several of these in the past.

I've used the Passport Book BIGZ die from Sizzix to make the box ornament.  Unfortunately this die has been retired for quite some time but it's still one of my favorite dies.  I covered the outside of the box with a soft blue scrapbook paper and added some flower rub-ons from Stamperia.  The  flowers came from Hobby Lobby and the bunny is a die cut from Frantic Stamper.  The Easter banner is cut from a retired Graphic 45 paper pad.

Inside the box, you'll find this sweet image that was also cut from the Graphic 45 paper pad, along with a die cut chick from Dies R Us as well as a couple of sparkly Easter eggs from Michael's Craft Store.  I lined the inside bottom of the box with craft moss to give all the elements a place to sit.

You can check out the other ornament boxes I've made in the past:

Please stop by the Double D Challenge blog to see how my talented teammates were inspired.
