Out & About Collection ~ Spellbinders

Happy Friday friends~  Do you have any great plans for the weekend?  The recently released "Out & About" collection from Spellbinders will give you plenty of ideas for weekend activities.

It's no secret that I love to garden and watch & feed the birds in our yard.  We've watched many bird families raise their young in various birdhouses around our yard, so this darling Love Note Bird ticked all the boxes for me.

As with all of Spellbinders dies, the details are incredible!  This little winged wonder comes with a flowered branch die and a love note, which you'll see on my next card.

The "Hello Smile Etched Dies" are part of the new collection as well.   I used the Circle Illusion Embossing Folder for the background on this card.

Since July 4th is just around the corner, I thought I'd use patriotic colors for my next card.

I used the "hello" die for this card.  The background on this card was made with the Tiny Dots Embossing Folder.  You can't ever go wrong with polka dots.

I hope you enjoyed today's projects.  You can find the entire new release at Spellbinders and take a peek at what's COMING SOON.  I've listed links to the products below for your convenience.  Hope to see you again soon!

Reach For The Stars ~ Double D Challenge

Good morning crafty friends!  It's the middle Wednesday of the month so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges.  The theme for this week is "Reach For the Stars".

For some reason when I was writing down the challenge themes on my calendar, I simply wrote down "stars".

So, with stars in minds, I thought about making a card for Independence Day.  I hope that works.  We'll see if this gets me kicked off the team.  😅

Before you get too excited about my fantastic design for a card, let me say that I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest that had this tall, slimline, angle cut that I put my own spin on.

The stars are cut from white cardstock, white glitter cardstock and newsprint cardstock.  I like the variety it gives.

This is the inside of the card with space to write my good wishes on.

I tried to remember the name of this style card.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Is it a Z-fold angled card??

Anyway, you'll find lots of amazing inspiration using stars over at the Double D Challenge Blog.  I do hope you'll pop over to see what my talented team mates have come up with.

Here's the inspiration board to help jump start your creativity:

Before you go, I want to share with you that my good friend and team mate Vicki Robertson is starting a new challenge called "A Cut Above".  It's a challenge that focuses on using dies, so it's right up my alley.  Her first challenge will start on July 1st.  I hope you'll hop on over to her blog, become a follower and join in on the fun.

I'm Glad We're Friends

Hello crafty friends~  Today's card is one that I made during NSD events that took place over at A Cherry On Top.

We were challenged to use 6 strips of washi tape.  I took on this challenge, knowing that it would help me use up some washi tapes, which I hardly ever use anymore.

I laid out six strips in random widths and color onto a piece of white cardstock and cut them with a PTI Stitched Primitive Heart.

The "hi" is from Spellbinders.

The background papers are also from Spellbinders.  I simply added another strip of gold glittered washi tape down to side for extra credit.    I enjoy challenges like these to help me use supplies that otherwise are sadly neglected.

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:

Bluebirds

Hello friends ~ Happy Saturday!  For the past several weeks we've had a pair of bluebirds nesting in a decorative birdhouse just outside our front door.  They're the sweetest little couple!

When I saw the Triple B Challenge for June, I just had to play along, especially since I had also recently received this sweet set of Spring Birds dies from Honeybee stamps.

I had also ordered the Cherry Blossoms at the same time.  They make the perfect pair!

Each morning I would open our front door and the mama and papa bluebirds would fly out of the birdhouse into the maple tree, not too far from their home, while I filled the tray feeder with some mixed birdseed.  Once I was back inside with the door closed, they would both fly down to the tray feeder to eat some breakfast.  This became our morning routine for a few weeks.

They've now flown the nest, I expect with their little brood of babies.  I was happy to have a small part in their family's upbringing.

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:

Pick Three ~ Double D Challenge

June is wedding season however, today's card would most likely not be used as a wedding card.  But Double D Challenge is embracing the onset of wedding season, bringing you a new challenge with the theme of "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and / or Something Blue.  You only have to pick 3 for your creation and it does not have to be a wedding card!

For example:  you can use an old stamp, die, or paper, etc. or new of the same. Something borrowed from another crafter and/or something blue.

For my card, here's what I used:
Something Old:  papers from my stash and older dies, like the doily in the background and the frame die.
Something New:  the pretty new flower rub-on I found on Amazon.
Something Borrowed:  The ticket you see peeking out from behind was one that I received in a card from a crafty friend.
Something Blue:  The printed flowers and the millinery flowers.

Don't stress over this challenge, just have fun with it!

You'll find some fantastic designs over at the Double D Challenge Blog.  We have the best design team!!

Here's the inspiration photo.  I went with the vintage lace for my inspiration.

Here's what you could win when you play along:
