CHA Challenge #6

Good morning paper crafting friends. I'm here today, posting as a guest designer for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge blog. Today's challenge is a sketch chalenge, with a twist. Follow the sketch and the twist is that you must search your hoard and find one item that is Old and one item that is NEW and use both of them on your project. Here's the sketch:

Here's my card:

For this card I used paper from G45 Sweet Sentiments line (my NEW item). I started with a cardstock base using SU! YoYo-Yellow (this was my OLD, very old supply of paper). I layered on some G45 papers, adding a lacy edge that was punched using a Martha Stewart punch. The image is framed using a frame cut from Spellbinders which I then sprinkled with MS glitter. The flower in the upper right corner (also OLD)was sprayed with my own mix of shimmery paint and water to create a spray. I added the leaves (punched using a MS punch) and paper roses. I finished this off with some grossgrain ribbon.

That's it for my project! Don't forget to link up your project on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog by Midnight, Sunday, May 4th for your chance to win this awesome prize pack from our April sponsor, Hampton Art. You can find all the details to the challenge HERE.

Pastel Goodness!

Here's one more card for today that I made for the Shabby Tea Room challenge using pastels, flowers and polka dots.
I cut a Spellbinders oval out of my white cardstock after running it through with a Cuttlebug polka dot embossing folder. The flowers are from Day Dreamer from PTI and Pretty Poppies from MFT. The bird is stamped using a SU! set which I fussy cut. I finished it off with a butterfly from The Crafts Meow, which I also fussy cut. Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Rest On The Lord

Mother's Day

Good morning friends~ I'm here to post a card I made for the Sweet N' Sassy challenge to make a Mother's Day card.

I am so incredibly grateful for my mother. When I think back at what her childhood must have been like, a child during the war in Germany. She had to flee, with her mother, my Oma from their city because it was bombed. They went to a safehouse until it was safe to go home. When they arrived home, their city was in rubbles. She knew what it was like to be homeless and hungry, boiling meat fat to make soup broth to eat. The stories my mom has told me have both humbled me and made me so proud of her! She truly is an amazing woman and I'm so proud to call her my mom!

I used a free printable I found online and cut the card base using a spellbinders die.
Thanks for visiting. Blessings~ Birgit

Dream

Good morning fellow paper crafters! We awoke to find some new snow on the ground! Yes, my spring bulbs are growing and our pond is melted, our little goldfish are swimming around and now there's snow... At least I can find comfort in know that it won't last despite below normal temp's for the rest of this week. Spring really is here in Maine, I just know it is!
Anyway, here's a card I made for the Fusion Card Challenge.

I used Daydreamer by PTI to frame the embossed Tim Holtz frame with flowers. The sentiment is also from PTI. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Garden Bunny

Good morning paper crafting friends! It's a cool, rainy day here in Maine so after I finish my house cleaning, I'm going to find time to play in my craft room. I do have this card to share with you that I'm posting to the Kraft Journal challenge to use bunnies or lambs.

I started with a kraft cardstock base and added the wooden boards which were cut using one of the MFT Blueprints Die-namic 13. Love all the Blueprint sets!! I distressed the edges of each board with Tim Holts Walnut Stain and added black dots for the nails. The "Lettuce" die cut is an oldie that I've had in my stash and forgot I had. I found one that says "Tomatoes" too, but I didn't think bunnies would spend as much time in a tomato patch as they would in a lettuce patch. Who knows! The pot of flowers and little carrots are cut and stamped using MFT's Easter Bunny set by Lisa Johnson. The grass is "make-do" using leaves cut and stamped with the "Daydreamer" set from PTI. Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Carrot Seeds

Happy Tax Day! I know, I don't really like taxes but today is the deadline so we might as well make a celebration out of it, right?? To celebrate, I made some cute little Easter cards for the Shabby Tea Room challenge to use stripes and/or polka dots.

I used Garden Variety from PTI for the seed packs and carrots, but the bunny image is from The Crafts Meow, which I'm sad to say has closed its doors. Who wouldn't want to buy seed packs as cute as these?? Thanks for looking! Blessings and Happy Easter~ Birgit

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #5

Good morning paper crafting friends! I'm here to post this card as a guest designer to Challenge #5 for Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog.
The theme is Pick a Stamp, Any Stamp! If you think you've seen this post before, you're right! I royally messed up and posted it a week early and didn't know how to unpost it without deleting all my hard work writing it up. Long story short, Gloria has been more than gracious and patient with me and has allowed me to post it again, on the proper day. Thanks Gloria!
So, finally after all that's said, here's my card again~

The image stamp I used for this project is from G45. I just love the vintage egg image and it gave me a chance to practice using my copics. Yes, I still need lots of practice!!

I started by stitching my patterned paper onto white cardstock. I stamped the corner flourishes using Technique Tuesday stamps and the cute little bunny border at the bottom is also from the G45 set. Then I mounted it onto an Aqua Mist (from PTI) cardstock base. I added some pretty vintage lace to the bottom and layered a couple of Spellbinders fancy ovals to put my colored Easter image onto. The leaves are cut using spellbinders as well. I added some tiny pearls to the centers of two of the leaves and nestled the paper flowers into the leaves, finishing it off with a sheer white bow. I added some Glossy Accents to the tips of the flower petals to give the appearance of morning dew.

In the bottom right corner is my butterfly, which was cut using Beautiful Butterflies from PTI. I cut the butterfly twice, out of some pink and printed papers from my hoard, to give it dimension. The antennae's are the leftover wire that I cut from the flowers in the top left corner. I simply curled it around something small and adhered them to the back of the butterfly. I finished it off by adding more pearls to the body.

That's it for my project! Don't forget to link up your project on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog by Midnight, Sunday, April 20th for your chance to win this awesome prize pack from our April sponsor, Hampton Art.

Craft Room Part 2

Hello friends~ I'm here with more pictures to share of my craft storage ideas for Craft Hoarders Anonymous fifth-Monday feature. I'm really enjoying getting to peek into everyone's craft spaces and see how they organize their supplies. So when I left off yesterday, the large cabinet you saw is behind my work table.

This cabinet that you see was also a freebie that my hubby found on the side of the road on dump day. The previous owners were throwing it out because it was missing the two doors and shelf in the bottom. My hubby simply added a new shelf and we left it without the doors. I like it better that way anyway, I think...

This is what's displayed on top of the cabinet of shame. The sewing machine was found in an abandoned house that was being torn down.

My 12x12 paper is stored in the closet which I'm not going to share because the closet is kind of a mess!

Guess that's it for today. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit
