Happy Little Stampers CASE The Designer Challenge ~ October

Hello friends~  It's my turn to challenge you in the Happy Little Stampers CASE The Designer challenge.

My card:

I have a soft spot for vintage and kind of thought this looked a bit vintage-y and collage-y.  Yes, those are real words in my dictionary.  ;0)

I started by cutting a stitched rectangle panel out of Rustic cream card stock and stamping over it with a script background stamp from PTI and then added a light touch of distress ink around the edges to give it some age.  I then stamped the flowers to look like vintage roses from PTI's Bitty Bouquets, but stamped them off once onto scrap paper to soften the colors.
I then cut a Spellbinders lattice panel and a frame using Simon Says Stamp Frame dies and adhered them together.  The bird and branch are from PTI's Spring Woods.  I wanted the bird to really stand out so he's stamped in very bright and vivid colors by stamping with the MISTI by sponging the color on and allowing them to blend on their own.  The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in white on a double ended fishtail banner from MFT's Blueprints #13.

I hope you'll join in on the fun this month at the Happy Little Stampers CASE the Designer challenge.
I look forward to seeing your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings~ Birgit

Pumpkin Season

Hi there!  Ashley has a great video on using your pumpkin stamps in a traditional, trendy or unique way.  I would call my card unique in that the pumpkin doubles as a pumpkin balloon.
I did a little bit of a water colored background on water color card stock and added the pumpkin from Autumn Pumpkins.  I used the curly stamp to create part of the balloon string and drew the rest of the string in by hand.  You can totally tell the difference!!  And that adorable mouse from Christmas Critters.  I want to use them on everything right now.  ;0)

I used the pumpkin from last years release, Pumpkin Patch, paired with A Second Helping of Sunshine ~ Bowl Of Sunshine and Twig Wreath for a more traditional card.

This was a framed project I made last year using pumpkins for balloons, so I kind of wanted to recreate that idea.

Dies R Us ~ Memory Box Airin Bird ~ Peace On Earth

Hello fellow paper crafter's ~ It' my turn over at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog and today I've used the beautiful Airin Bird from Memory Box to create a couple of delightful Christmas cards.

I started by attaching a piece of water colored background paper to an A-2 sized card front.  The Poppy Stamps Crystal Snowflake Corner Frame was cut out of shiny silver card stock and adhered to the background.  I then added a Holiday Holly & Berries branch from Elizabeth Craft Designs and nestled the Airin Bird on top using foam dots for dimension.  The sentiment is heat embossed in red to bring out the color of the berries and a few pretty gems finish off the card.

The second card uses the Memory Box Snowflake Oval Frame.  This time I went with using a red background for the bird.  It's very striking, I think.

Marcia, Patti and I ~ A Challenge Among Friends

It's that time once again when Marcia, Patti and I post this months challenge.
Patti challenged us to use PTI's Spring / Winter Woods, Forget-Me-Not and Inspired sets.

    Card #1
"Faith" is cut from gold card stock.  I also used Hero Arts Music Background stamp and Santa's Book by Precious Marieke and a spattering of gold sequins.

I veered a little from using just sentiments from the "Inspired" series, since I only have the one set, "Inspired ~ Faith", so I used a sentiment from "A Cheerful Heart".

And then my dear friend Marcia took pity on me and sent me some of her dies and sentiments to use.  She sent me Praise, Grace and Blessed.  She sent me Faith too, but I already have that but that's ok.  I'll have dies and sentiments ready to use when needed.  Thanks Marcia!!  You're a sweetie!!

PTI September Blog Hop ~ Not A Creature...

Hello PTI friends~  I'm joining in on the fun at the PTI Blog Hop today using this lovely inspiration piece.
    Blog Hop

It's not very often that my order for the new release arrives at my house before the blog hop but this month it was exceptionally fast and it arrived on Friday.
I couldn't have been more excited to play!

I laid in bed Friday night thinking about how I was going to use these new sets for the blog hop and came up with this shaker card.  I suppose as I was trying to remember the inspiration photo, I remembered the sprigs more than I did the gift and twine part, but it is what it is and I still wanted to share it with you.  Hope that's ok.

Lots and lots of tiny little clear beads.  They got all over my craft table and I fear I'll be cleaning them up forever!

Inks Used:  Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow, Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Saffron Spice, Spring Rain and Americana
I think I'm going to love working with these sets for Christmas this year!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have fun blog hopping!
    Blessings~ Birgit

    PTI ~ Make-It Monday ~ Masculine Florals

Good morning friends~  Betsy had a great video this week about using floral images to make masculine cards.  What a clever idea since most stampers have lots of florals in our stash.

Here's my card.  I'm not completely thrilled with it but I'm posting it anyway.  A girl will do anything to try to win a free prize, right?

I stamped some leaf and sprig images from First Fruits (a super old set but still a favorite) using soft stone and saffron spice inks on the background of the card base and then added flowers and leaves from Day Dreamer and Happiness In Bloom.  The sentiment from Birthday Basics is heat embossed in black and a string of twine finishes it off.

You can find Betsy's video here to join in on the fun.

    Dies R Us ~ A Special Boo!

Hello friends~  It feels like it's been a long time since I've posted on the Dies R Us blog but we're right on schedule !  There are so many fun fall dies at the Dies R Us online store it's hard to choose which ones go in the cart when I really want them all!

For this card, I started by creating the background using some various landscape dies, cutting the hills out of two different shades of green.  The sky is a piece of printed scrapbook paper.  It made the perfect sky, don't you think?  Once the layers were in place I cut the whole panel using the largest Lawn Fawn's Large Cross Stitched Rectangles.  I love using this die when I don't want a border around the main panel.  It cuts the size perfectly to fit an A2 sized card.  I went on to add two of the Country Fences from Impression Obsession.  Cheery Lynn's Spooky Tree made the perfect backdrop for these funny little pumpkins from Impression Obsession.
I added some detail lines and shading to the pumpkins with colored pencils and a gel pen for their eyes.  The little swirly fronds coming off the big guy are from Quickuts.  I popped the big guy up using some foam dots to give it some dimension.

Today's Tip:  Add detail and color to your dies using markers, pencils and gel pens.  It really brings your dies to life!

Here is a list of products I used that can be found in the Dies R Us Store:

    Cupcake Inspirations #376 ~ A Color Challenge

Good morning friends~ It's that time already for a new challenge going on over at Cupcake Inspirations and this week's colors are Forest, Papaya and Eggplant or something similar.

Our sponsor this week is the ever adorable Newton's Nook and they are so generously giving away a $25 store credit to the winner!

They were so kind to let us do a little discount shopping and I must say, I could not stop adding their cute stamp sets to my cart!!  This company is new to me and I'm in love with Newton and all of his friends!!

Here's my card using Tranquil Tides:
After stamping and die cutting the images in this set, I settled on using just these two sea creatures.  I was shooting for a more CAS look.  I added Perfect Pearls to the fish so they shimmer in real life.  It's awful hard for me to capture that in a photo.

Please visit the other design team members to see their inspiration for this challenge and then join in on the fun!

PTI Create Along With Us ~ September

Good morning friends~  I'm playing along with this week's
    Create Along With Us challenge.

I chose this sweet card from Betsy Veldman
    Christmas-faith
I like the CAS look and Scandinavian design.  I like stamping these repetitive patterns so I turned to Make-It Market Holiday Folk set to create my card.
You can't see it in the photo, but I added some sparkle to the polar bear using a Wink of Stella pen.
The little red sprigs are from Note Niblets and the sentiment is from an older PTI set, Silent Night.

I'm so glad you stopped by and I do hope you'll leave me a comment letting me know you were here.  I enjoy reading your comments!
    Blessings~ Birgit

Down On The Farm with Double D Challenges

Good morning friends~  Double D Challenges has a sweet inspiration challenge going on right now, Down On The Farm.

I was inspired by the sunflowers and just had to pair them up with Brownie the Cow from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I mean, how often do you get to use a cow when you're making a card, right?

The front of the card shows a field of sunflowers from Frantic Stamper and pumpkins from Impression Obsession on a rolling country hill.  The sentiment is from PTI and is heat embossed in gold with the remaining part of the sentiment stamped in black.

The inside of the card reveals a fun pop-up surprise!  The Elizabeth Craft Pop-Up Fence is so easy to use and it comes with the die for creating a pop-up.  I actually popped the fence up a little differently than the directions because I wanted the card to stand as it is and not pop up when laying flat.   I tucked two more sunflowers behind the fence with Brownie and some pumpkins along the outside of the fence.  A little red bird from Cheery Lynn's Birds of Earth And Sky is perched on one of the pumpkins and the clouds are from Memory Box Stitched Cloud Trio.

Here's a couple of close up views of the pop up.

Here's a bonus card I made a while ago but never got around to posting.
I used Elizabeth Crafts Countryscapes Backyard to decorate up the fence.
I love how all these sets work so well together.  I cut the shapes out of water color card stock and colored them up using Zigs and water to blend and mute the colors a bit.

I'll also be entering this pop-up card into the following challenges:

    Cupcake Inspirations #375 ~ A Theme Challenge

Good morning friends and happy Sunday!  Cupcake Inspirations has a new challenge up today and it's a theme challenge.
"BOWS" ~So be sure to incorporate a bow on your project!

There is no sponsor this week so our generous team leader is offering up some ribbons from The Ribbon Resource

Aside from including a ribbon on my project, I was also inspired by the fun colors and touches of gold in this week's delightful inspiration photo.  This is what I ended up with:
I started by adding a piece of printed scrapbook paper to the top corner of a white card stock base.  I added an MFT Gerbera Daisy and some Layered Leaves cut from Gold.  I added a coordinating ribbon and bow along the angle.  The sentiment is from PTI's Bold & Beautiful Sentiments.  I stamped the small part of the sentiment in black and heat embossed the main part in gold.  A few sequins to add a little bling.

Be sure to visit the other designers to see their scrumptious batch of fresh baked inspiration for this weeks challenge and then stop by the Cupcake Inspirations Blog to join in on the fun!
