12 Kits of Occasion ~ August

Where did the summer go?  August is just coming to an end and it's already felt like fall here on the east coast, waking up to 40 degree mornings.  I'm so glad I had Michelle Leone's kit for 12 Kits of Occasion to keep me warm in my craft room.  She called it "End of Summer Soiree" and what a perfect ode to summer it was!

Michelle has a great eye for color, patterns and style.  Her style is clean and classy.  I loved all the red, green and blue jewel tones paired with touches of gold throughout her kit.  These cards came together so easily.  Thanks Michelle for an amazing kit this month!
This is the first card I made using the kit and it's also my favorite!  Just look at those gorgeous papers, touched with gold accents, the large blooms in jewel tone colors.  GAH!  There always seems to be at least one printed paper in every kit that I want to hoard, and this is the one.  I wish I had a stack of it!

Michelle included these fun airplanes complete with banners to create some great masculine style birthday cards, which I'm always in need of.

More beautiful papers and gold accented elements Michelle included in her kit.  The "Hello" die is from Honey Bee Stamps.

I had been playing around with Ken Oliver Microburst Powders and had this piece sitting on my table when Michelle's kit arrived.  The die cut panel she sent was perfect over the top.  I simply added the pierced and scalloped ovals from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The large die cut sentiment was included in the kit.

Finally, more of the beautiful papers and this wonderful cake die.  I simply added a Happy Birthday circle die.

I hope you enjoyed todays cards using this months 12 Kits of Occasion.  Be sure to visit my talented teamies over at the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how they were inspired to use Michelle's kit.

Fruity Thanks

I could eat it for every meal and I've never met a fruit I didn't like.  Well, except for dragon fruit!  My daughter and I tried it once and decided we'd stick with what we know we like.
My "thank you" cards have been running low so I've been working on cheerful thank you cards and since summer is the season of fruits, I turned to some of my favorite fruity sets from Sunny Studio Stamps.

They have the best layered stamps for fruit.  Just look at the shadows and detail of these fruits from Fruit Cocktail and Berry Bliss.

I heat embossed the "Thank You" sentiment in gold and added some gold dots to finish it off.

What are your favorite layering stamps?  I'd love to hear!

Dashing Through The Snow

Good morning friends~  It's time to dig out your doggie stamps and dies to make a card using your favorite pooch for the  Christmas Kickstart Challenge.  The theme is "Daschund Through The Snow".  The perfect play on words... just make sure you have a dog on your card.

I used an oldie but goodie stamp set from Hero Arts called Sledding.  This is such a great stamp set because it's got my favorite animals, all ready to slide down the hill on their little toboggan.  Notice the cat.... it reminds me of my cat Crazy...  She would totally do something like that!

If you act fast, you'll find this Hero Arts stamp and die set half price at Scrapbook.com.

Of course I had to use the dog to meet the challenge requirements but I included the little mouse, chasing after the dog who's lost his red cap while flying down the snow glittered hill!

There's plenty of time to play along in this fun challenge at Christmas Kickstart Challenge.

Wild About You

Happy Saturday friends!  I'm back with a card I made for the challenge going on over at Double D Challenges.  The theme is "It's a Jungle Out There"
I recently received the "Toucan Paradise Bundle" set from Concord & 9th so this was the perfect challenge to get inky with it.

I used some of the funky stripes in the stamp set to stamp a border on the left side of the card.  I stamped the tropical leaves and flowers included in the set to create the background.  I then added palm leaves cut using Echo Park Palm Leaves.

For this card, I used more of the die cut Echo Park Palm Leaves to create the background and added the fun toucan, sentiment and flowers from Concord & 9th.

There is a "Hello" stamp in this set that I used to stamp a background in light grey ink.  The stitched window is cut using MFT's Inside Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle.

I used a piece of printed paper from Echo Park Summer Fun to lay behind the window on this card and another great sentiment from from the Toucan Paradise stamp set.

Four fun cards that I'll be donating to the Ronald McDonald House.

I'll also be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

Football Fans Unite! Dies R Us ~ Sports

Hello~~  Do you have a sports enthusiast in your family?  If yes, then this next challenge at Dies R Us Challenge Blog is for you because the theme is "Sports"!
When my son was in school, he played every sport out there, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, he even did gymnastics and karate.    Oh how I loved going to his games and events and watching the kids play.

Today's card uses Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles for the background.  I added a banner from Marianne Designs, which are special order dies.  I added a Grassy Edger from Frantic Stamper with the word Celebrate topped off with a football die from My Favorite Things, that I colored with Copics.

Leaning on God's Promises

Good morning friends.  I'm back after a bit of a blogging break.  Other than pre-scheduled posts I've stepped away from the computer while life took over.  I've slowly been getting back to doing the things that bring me joy.  Gardening, exercising, reading and making cards!

The Flower Challenge has asked us to make a card using our favorite flower.  Uhhh..... it is completely impossible to choose a favorite as I love them all!

I just happened to have these Flower Favorites from PTI sitting on my craft table so I stamped a bunch of the different flowers and chose this design to enter in to the challenge.  I love spring bulbs of all kinds and especially iris'.  My mom loved walking around her house in the spring and seeing all her bulbs popping up and it gives me warm thoughts of her when I look upon the bulbs that come up in my yard each spring.

I've been leaning on God's promises a lot lately and chose this sentiment from Be Encouraged by Sweet N' Sassy Stamps.  The printed papers are some I've had in my stash for quite some time.  I'm trying to use up some of my older supplies.

I'll be entering this card in to the following challenges:

Tropical Toucan ~ Dies R Us ~ Use Bright Colors

*This is a pre-scheduled post*
It's the first of the month so that means it's time for a new challenge over at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  This week the theme is "Bright Colors".  So fun!

I wanted to create a brightly colored bird and this Toucan from Dee's Distinctively Dies was just perfect!  I cut the bird out of white cardstock and used Distress Inks to color him up.  I used Copics on his beak.

I did the same process of cutting and coloring on the leaves using Dee's Distinctively Dies Trio Tropical Leaves as I did on the toucan.  Some pretty patterned paper from Echo Park "Summer Fun" was used in the background that I cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Circles

You can find all the details and join in on the fun here.
The winner will receive a gift card to Dies R Us.
