12 Kits of Occasions ~ April

Hello friends ~ It's the last day of the month, so you know what that means right?  It's time for the 12 Kits of Occasion reveal post.
This month Sharron Gregory of On Papillon Wings was our hostess with the mostest.

Her kit was filled with heart warming words of comfort and friendship.  I adored everything she included in her sweet kit and everything was new to me so it was super fun creating with it!
These little friends dressed in their rain gear were just so adorable!  I enjoyed coloring them up with Copics and using that fabulous cloud embossed background.

I thought this green striped designer paper that Sharron included in the kit made a perfect rainy background.  Sweet little green sequins add a touch of whimsical rain drops.

This little pooch is so darling backed with more fun paper from the kit.

Ok, so the light I used on this card is actually supposed to be a bird bath but I used the birds elsewhere and thought of this layout.  I thought the sentiment called for a spotlight focused on this  lonely little pup.

This kitty and bird became fast friends while traveling in the mail on their way to my house.
ETA:  I'll be adding this card to the Paper Players tic tac toe challenge using circles, sequins and pink.

The same with this sweet little pair.

I've never created anything with succulents before so these dies and papers were extra fun for me to work with.

I'm not exactly sure if the red shape is meant to be a flower but that's the direction I went in with it.

Such a sweet, sweet pair of friends...

That's it for my magic today but I still have so many leftovers to create more cards.   I ran out of time to make them before leaving for our trip to visit our son and sweet daughter-i-l in sunny California.

Thank you so much Sharron for such a wonderful and touching kit to play with this month.  I totally loved it!

Be sure to visit my talented team mates at the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see what they've created using Sharron's kit.  Be sure to leave a comment on the 12 kits blog for your chance to win a kit for May "Happiness is Homemade".  We also have a very dear to me guest designer who was the winner of Sharron's lovely kit, Marcia Hill of Marcia's Stampin' Pad.

I'll also be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

Elizabeth Craft Designs ~ Masculine / Feminine Birthday

Good morning friends~  Like many of you, I struggle with creating masculine cards.  I've got a post up at the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today using these wonderful Feathers by Joset Designs.  This card can be used for either a masculine or feminine birthday.

I just love how they look tipped in gold.
Let's get started!
I started by cutting the Diamond Background out of Soft Sky Soft Finish Cardstock and adhered it to an A2 sized top folding card front.

I blended a large square of White Soft Finish Cardstock using Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral and Cracked Pistacio Distress Inks, spritzed with water and cut the Feathers out.  If you've never tried blending on Soft Finish Cardstock, you really must!  The texture is so soft and the colors blend so easily.

I stamped some of the feathers using a pretty script background in a very light color and tipped all of the feathers using gold embossing powder.

I cut two Stitched Fishtail Banners out of scraps of decorative paper and one out of a scrap of white.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from General Sentiments onto the white banner and assembled the card.

After assembling the card I tied a bit of twine around the feathers and added some pretty little sequins.

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  You can find these and many more wonderful products at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings~ Birgit

Celebrate May With A May Basket

May is just around the corner and thinking about what project I wanted to make for the Cut Cardstock Blog conjured up memories of making May Baskets as a child in school.  This idea brought back many fond memories of weaving construction paper to make baskets or decorating paper cones to be filled with a fistful of little white posies I'd pick off our front lawn and then hanging the baskets on the doors of my elderly neighbors homes.    Do children today even know what a May Basket is?

Here's a little vintage inspired gift basket I made that might just find its way to someone's door some warm May morning.

I started by die cutting some flowers from Cheery Lynn Floral Bouquet out of Silver POW Glitter Paper and coloring the flowers using a Copic marker.  This is a great way to give color to neutral glitter paper.  I then layered the flowers as seen above, using large Glue Dots.

I cut two squares of Pink Lemonade Pop Tone Cardstock and ran them through my machine with a polka dotted embossing folder.  I then glued paper doilies to the cardstock and ran them through the die cutting machine again using a Elizabeth Craft Scalloped Heart die.

I also cut several Cheery Lynn Floral Bouquet leaves out of Gumdrop Green Pop Tones Cardstock and glued them into 4 sets as pictured above.

Next I cut an MFT Paper Bag die out of Kraft Cardstock and stamped each side of the bag in black ink, using a Penny Black Script Background stamp.

Then came the fun part of assembling the hearts and flowers to the bag using Score Tape.  I also added a silver chenille handle and some pearl accents.
I hope you enjoyed today's project and are inspired to make a May Basket of your own to share with an elderly neighbor, perhaps.  You can find these products and many more at Cut Cardstock, Simon Says Stamp and Elizabeth Craft Designs.  You can also visit Cut Cardstock on FacebookPinterest and Twitter.

Honey Bear Slider Card

Hello friends~  Today's card is a fun little slider card using ECD Sliders and Spinners Dies and this sweet little Honey Bear set.
I created the background using patterned papers and then cut the slider out of the background, keeping the negative piece.  I popped the background up using foam tape so that the slider could easily glide up and down.
I lined the Rustic Ladder up over the slider and attached sweet Honey Bear to a piece of cardstock that acts as an extender from the penny slider so he looks like he's climbing up the ladder to get to the honey.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and are inspired to try a slider card today!  You can find all the supplies I used for today's card at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge ~ Spring Colors

Sisterhood of Crafters ~ Stamp It
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
Happy Little Stampers ~ Anything Goes with Dies

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #403 ~ Dinosaur Pop-Up Fun!

Good morning friends~  Cupcake Inspirations has a new challenge up this week and the theme is "Mythical".

Our sponsor this week is The Greeting Farm.

They're offering up a $25 Gift Certificate to the winner!

I've never been someone who was into mythical creatures before so this challenge had me stumped for a while.  I've been on a pop-up card craze lately, so I thought I'd make a fun pop-up card for you today using dinosaurs.  They're about as mythical as I can get.
Making pop-up cards has never been easier or more fun using this Lots Of Pops Die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Today's pop-up card features these wonderful Dinosaur dies from Marianne Designs.
This is the front of the card.  MFT's Scenic Safari Dies make the perfect background for these party animals.  The sentiment was heat embossed in black on an Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Fishtail Banner.

On the inside of the card I added a couple of Frantic Stamper Palm Trees and this funky cake from Sugar Pea Designs Bring On The Cake.  Just look those adorable dinosaurs!

 Layer's of fun!

Do stop by the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog to see how the other designers were inspired this week and then join in on the fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Blessings~ Birgit

Birthday's Galore!

Good morning ~  I've got a couple of cards to share that I made for specific challenges.  I've been super busy being involved with an Easter Event at our church but had Wednesday off to play and since April is a big birthday month for us (9 birthdays), I needed to catch up on some birthday cards.
These first two cards are for the PTI Create Along With Us challenge.  I was completely taken by Stephanie Gold's idea to create a sentiment border.  I stamped two different panels, one with the sentiment border and one with balloons and cut them evenly so I could create two cards.  Both of these will be going to two of my great little's who celebrate their birthdays this month.

This card is for one of my nieces.  They have 4 cats and a dog so I thought she'd get a kick out of this fun Newton's Nook Birthday Flutter image.  This card will be entered into the Seize the Birthday challenge using two patterned papers.

My next card is a spinner card for another niece.  She has a hedgehog as a pet so this card is perfect for her.  My sweet friend Marcia sent me this adorable hedgehog die and it works perfectly with the ECD spinners dies.  The flowers are from MFT.

I'll also be entering one of these cards into the following challenges:
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge ~ Spring Colors
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

Under His Wings...

Good morning friends~  There's nothing more comforting to me when I'm struggling with something, than the promises of God's word and I love making cards to share with others who might be going through a tough time.  A heartfelt note in a time of need is good medicine.

I'm up at the Dies R Us blog today with a card of comfort.

I started by lightly blending some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink onto an A2 sized top folding card base.

I cut the Memory Box Honeycomb Collage out of a piece of white cardstock cut to the same size as the card and then trimmed off the left side from corner to corner so it would only cover a portion of the card front.

I cut three Elizabeth Craft Designs Small Butterflies using the detailed die cut out of white card stock and the solid die cut out of three soft colored card stocks
and then layered them.

I stamped the verse on the top left corner and assembled my card as shown.

Here's a list of products I used that can be found at Dies R Us:
