12 Kits of Occasion ~ May Flowers

Good morning stamping friends ~ It's the end of the month so that means it's time for a group post for the 12 Kits of Occasion gals to post our projects using kits put together by one of our amazingly talented team mates.  This month's kit was hosted by my very dear friend and incredibly creative Marcia Hill of Marcia's Stampin' Pad.

The theme of her kit is called April Showers Bring May Flowers.  If there's one thing Marcia knows how to do, it flowers!!  She's not afraid to try new techniques and she rocks every new technique every time!  I adored this delightful kit and the cards whipped together in a snap!

Now on to my cards:
I think this card is my favorite.  I adore this little Bundle Girl from Stampingbella holding her snowdrops.  She was super easy to color and she is just as cute as a button!!

Marcia had these tulips from PTI all stamped and ready to go.  All I had to do was add a strip of patterned paper and a bit of black glitter tape.  The sentiment banner is also from PTI.

I was a little hesitant to color this Penny Black image called "First Blush" because it was so pretty embossed in silver and I didn't want to ruin it.  In the end, I'm fairly pleased with how it came out.

I thought this paper was so pretty, I didn't want to put anything over it to cover those pretty flowers.  This sentiment die from Spellbinders still allows the paper to be the star of the show.

Marcia included so many wonderful images to color including this one from Simon Says Stamp, Mandy's Flowers.  I happened to have these eggs left over from Easter sitting on my desk and thought they went perfectly with the Farm Fresh theme.

Another sweet Penny Black image.  This one is called Daffodil Devotion.  LOVE!!

And last but not least, another favorite Stampingbella image, Tiny Townie Garden Girl "Lily Of The Valley".  Oh gosh, isn't she sweet?  I'll add a sentiment later, when I know what I want to use this card for.  For now, she's perfectly cute on this CAS card.

I hope you'll visit the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how the rest of my talented team mates used Marcia's fabulous kit.

Butterfly Rainbow

Good morning friends~  Is the sun shining where you are?  We're supposed to have a beautiful day here on the east coast, with temperatures up into the 80's.  This is the kind of weather I love!!  So before I get outside for the day, I thought I'd share a card I made for the challenge going on over at The Sisterhood of Crafters, where the theme is Birds, Bee's, Butterflies.  You can use one or use them all.
Clearly I went with butterflies.  ;0)
I started with a piece of Canson 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper and placed the butterflies from Papertrey Ink into my Misti, starting at the bottom left corner.   Using Distress Oxide Ink, I inked up the butterflies in rainbow colors, blending the colors with a sponge dauber as I went along.

Once the stamping was done I sprayed the panel with water using a Mini Mister and let the colors bleed.  The green butterflies look more like yellow where the color ran.  I'm not sure why but I still like how it came out.  Then I stamped the sentiment and heart using Altenew's Beautiful Inside stamp set.

I hope you're able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.  I'm so very thankful for the warmer weather.  It makes staying at home so much more bearable.

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

I stamped the morning glories in hues of blue, using inks from Secret Garden Ink Cube Set.  I added a strip of design paper from my scrap box and a strip of glitter tape from Alton.

What kinds of things can you think of that begin with the letter "M"?

This funny moose from Creative Expressions, Christmas Characters, really is a character!  I made his eyes a little bit wonky just to add to his charm.  He looks like he's had a little too much Christmas cheer.

A Lovely Congratulations Card ~ DRU Graduation / Congratulations

Helo all!  We're coming into the midst of graduation season and I think it's so important that we don't forget our grads who are not able to walk across the stage and hear their name called on graduation day.  I have two important young people in my life that are graduating this year and my heart is sad for them, that they can't experience this life event that all students look forward to at the end of all their hard work.
Dies R Us Challenge Blog is starting a new challenge with the them of Graduation / Congratulations.
I started with these beautiful 7th Heaven papers from Mintay by Karola. I fussy cut the floral frame and butterfly from the accessories page in the paper pack.

I paired the floral frame with Sue Wilson Designs Australian Collection ~ Brisbane and attached the butterfly so that it's wings are dimentional.  Look at the lovely detail on that lacy frame.  Just beautiful!  I added just a hint of color using Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink.  Isn't it heavenly??

You can find all the details and join in on the fun by clicking here.  You could be the next winner of a DRU Gift Certificate!

I wanted to remind you that we have some exciting news to share with you.  Dies R Us now has opened a sister store with warehouses in the USA and Canada called Didi Crafts

They ship to both the US and Canada.  Didi Crafts will carry some of the same products as DRU, but most will be different.  Now our Canadian friends don't have to worry about huge taxes or shipping fees. How great is that!?!  We'd love for you to visit by clicking on the links above or by clicking here.

Vintage Easel Card for Mother's Day

Hello and Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate being a mom!  I made this vintage style easel card for my mother-in-love for Mother's day.  She's the only parent we have left between my hubby and I.  I miss my own mom so much, especially on Mother's Day and her birthday, and Christmas, and Easter, and flag day and National Whoopie Pie Day......  I miss her every day, so I'm very thankful to have this dear, sweet woman in our lives to celebrate.
I used beautiful papers by Mintay called 7th Heaven.  ~Swoon~

The clock face is from Marianne Designs, I cut it from gold foil cardstock.
I added some leafy greens and baby's breath both from Taylored Expressions.  The flowers are from Prima and the bird is from Tim Holtz botanical ephemera.

I love how this card came out and hope that she'll love it too.

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge ~ Use a Die Cut or a Punch
Inspired By ~ Flower Me With Color

Ocean Pop-up ~ DRU Ocean Challenge

Wow!  Is it really the first of May already?  I love spring and the onset of summer and when summer hits, I always enjoy digging out my favorite ocean themed dies.  These new dies (they were new at the time I wrote this post up) from Elizabeth Craft Designs are my new favorites and just perfect for the new challenge that's starting over at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog themed "Seas The Day".
Just look at this over sized Oyster Shell Card with Pop-up die.  Is it sweet or what?  I added the sand crab from the Seashells die set as well as some Seaweed dies.

This is the inside of the card, using the pop-up piece of the die set.  I added an adorable little Mermaid along with more Sea Weed elements.  The treasure is also from the Sea Weed Die Set.

Goodness!  So many wonderful ocean dies to choose from.  For your convenience, I've linked them all in the body of the post above and also below:
