12 Kits of Occasion ~ Light Houses

The end of September..... where did the time go?  The older I get, the faster time flies. It's the end of the month so you know what that means....  It's time for our 12 Kits of Occasion post.  This month was Kim Heggins turn, from Cupcakes, Card and Kim to host, and her adorable kit was the perfect ode to summer, titled Light Houses.

Anyone who knows Kim, knows that she likes color.  Her kit's are always filled with the cutest papers and images and this kit was no different. Loaded with paper from Doodlebug and the most adorable pirate Koala's and light house images, I just couldn't get enough!  I'll jump right in to my cards:

This sailboat paper captured my heart the moment I saw it.  I knew it would pair perfectly with the larger sailboat image and this "punny" sentiment.

Did I mention that I think this paper is adorable??  I've never seen these darling Koala images.  They're from Create A Smile, All Hands On Deck.  Super cute!!

Thanks Kim for such a fun kit!  I have plenty of leftovers to make lots more cards.
I hope you'll stop over to the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how my talented team mates were inspired to use Kim's kit.

Thanks for stopping by!

Patriotic Cone ~ TSOC

Good morning friends ~ I have something that's a little bit different for you today.  There's a new challenge starting over at The Sisterhood of Crafters and the theme is "Anything But A Card".  I enjoy these kinds of challenges because they get me thinking outside the box.
I actually made this patriotic cone back in June, specifically for this challenge, for a friend's birthday in July.

She loves vintage like me, so I tried to incorporate a vintage feel to this patriotic cone by using a couple of vintage images from Crafty Secrets, some old lace and vintage book pages to create the flower embellishment.

I made these medallions using scrapbooking paper, adding some Antique Silver Silk Microfine Glitter to the edges.  I added a star shaped brad to the centers of the medallions.  This is a good way to use up some supplies that have been sitting around forever.  Who uses brads anymore?  The ticket is stamped and cut using PTI's Just the Ticket.  Another super old set, but still a favorite of mine for vintage crafting.

The little flags are cupcake picks that I picked up a few years ago in the clearance baking section at Michael's.

On a side note, my friend loved her gift when I gave it to her for her birthday.  I'm so glad!

Now it's YOUR turn to play along.  You can find all the details at The Sisterhood of Crafters or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Jack's On A Fence ~ Double D Challenge ~ Don't Fence Me In

Good morning stamping friends.  There's a new challenge starting today over at Double D Challenge.  The theme is "Don't Fence Me In".
This challenge was a hard one to get my wheels turning.  I didn't really know what I wanted to do for this challenge.

I ended up using a layout that I've done before but I can assure you that this is a newly constructed card, made just for this challenge.

I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Hillside Borders and Impression Obsession Fence Scapes.  They work perfectly together!  I added a Cheery Lynn Spooky Tree and Impression Obsession Pumpkins & Jack O' Lantern Pumpkins.

I hope you'll join in on the fun by clicking here

Time Capsule ~ Dies R Us ~ One For The Boys

Hello stamplings ~  There's a new challenge starting up today over at the Dies R Us Challenge blog and the theme is "One For The Boys".

Like many of you, I struggle with making masculine cards.  It's easy for me to create with flowers, cute animals and all things that women love, but when it comes men, I'm at a loss.  I've been trying to add dies to my collection that are more masculine and these dies from Marianne Designs all seem to work together to create a strong, masculine card.

I used Tiny's Creatables Clock Face, Hurricane Lamp and leaves from Open Hip Flower Set.

These dies are all available during the Special Order Events at Dies R Us so be sure to sign up for the news letter so you can take advantage of this wonderful sale.

You can find all the details of this challenge and join in on the fun by clicking here.  You could be the next winner of a DRU Gift Certificate!

I wanted to remind you that we have some exciting news to share with you.  Dies R Us now has opened a sister store with warehouses in the USA and Canada called Didi Crafts

It will ship to both the US and Canada.  Didi Crafts will carry some of the same products as DRU, but most will be different.  Now our Canadian friends don't have to worry about huge taxes or shipping fees. How great is that!?!  We'd love for you to visit by clicking on the links above or by clicking here.

Beatrix Potter Bunny Birthday

Have you seen the new color challenge that's started up recently?  Color Hues is in the midst of their very first challenge and I think this challenge is going to become a fast favorite for many crafter's.

I couldn't resist adding another card to their delightful challenge.  My first entry was with this card here.  The colors of the challenge, green and yellow are just too wonderful to not make a second card. (You can link up to three separate projects.)

I used this darling Beatrix Potter bunny from Stampin' Up, Fabled Friends and paired it with flowers from PTI's Forget Me Not, stamped in of course, yellow and green.

I hope you're inspired to visit their blog and join in on the fun!

Gnome-y Warm Thoughts ~ TSOC ~ Autumn

Happy Fall' Yall!  The Sisterhood of Crafters is starting a new challenge and the theme is "Autumn".

I've had these darling Gnome images, "You Gnome Me" from My Favorite Things sitting in my coloring pile for a really long time and finally decided it was time to color them up.  Sadly they're discontinued by I think Gnomes will always be popular.

I also remembered that I had this cute little Nut House from Pink & Main that seemed to be the perfect home for these little gnomes on a slimline card.

A bit of ink blending in the background and some die cut grass  brings this whole card together perfectly.  Wouldn't you love to live there or at least come across these little fellas in your garden?
I would!

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Monday Challenge ~ Use your favorite stamp
Time Out challenge ~ Season with optional twist of coloring

Now it's YOUR turn to play along.  You can find all the details at The Sisterhood of Crafters or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Layered Edges Green & Yellow for Color Hues

Do you enjoy joining in on challenges?  I do! Color Hues is a brand new challenge and one that will definitely become a fast favorite, I think.

For my card I did a double layered edge using Impression Obsession Square Cutout Border and Penny Black Border Edgers.

The flowers are stamped using PTI's Gran's Garden.  I haven't used this set in such a long time.  I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it!

Here is the inspiration photo from Color Hues to get you started.  I hope you'll visit this new challenge site, give them some love and join in on the fun!

Llama Hugs ~ Double D Challenge ~ Colorful

Good morning stamping friends.  There's a new challenge starting today over at Double D Challenge.  The theme is "Colorful", so get out your favorite coloring medium and let's go!

If you know me at all, you know I love to work with dies.  A while back, I won a gift certificate  to Taylored Expressions from the Cut It Up Challenge.  I had fun shopping and had a hard time paring my cart down to something more affordable.  In the end, I landed on this darling No Drama LLama die set.  Oh my is he ever cute!!

These succulent images were from leftover from the 12 Kits of Occasion.

I made a slimline card using Pink Fresh Studio Slim Stitched Rectangles, did some ink blending and lined up all those cacti, tucking the llama in for height interest.  The die cut sentiment is covered in Wink Of Stella.

Dies R Us ~ Back To School

Hello stamplings ~  There's a new challenge starting up today over at the Dies R Us Challenge blog and the theme is "Back to School".
My card is quick and CAS:
I pulled out an oldie but goodie die from Frantic Stamper, the Crayon.  I cut it 5 times out of white card stock and colored the last one using blendable crayons from Ranger.
Did I say this was quick and CAS?

You can find all the details of the challenge and join in on the fun by clicking here.  You could be the next winner of a DRU Gift Certificate!
