Hello friends ~ My great nephew recently turned 16 and is now driving.

 

 

I thought I would make him a birthday card celebrating these two milestones.

This truck die from Spellbinders fit the need perfectly.  I cut the truck out of shiny blue cardstock, though it's kind of hard to tell that it's shiny.

I hope he likes his new wheels.  ;0)

Lobster Wishes from Maine

Hello friends.  Did you know that 

Maine is

globally recognized as a premier lobster destination, producing over 90% of the United States lobster supply?  Personally, I love the taste of lobster and I always enjoyed having my birthday in July.  My family would often have a lobster cook out to celebrate my birthday.  So this card, which I made can be either masculine or feminine, but it leans more masculine to me.  

 

Sizzix is the maker of this wonderful lobster die.  

 

The details on this lobster die are amazing.  I paired this crustacean cutie  with Elizabeth Craft Designs Seashell and coral dies.  The sentiment is also from ECD.

Oceans of Joy ~ Double D Challenge

Hey there crafty friends!  It's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges.  This week the theme is anything "Water Related".

I had a bit of fun creating this see through window card using a scrap of acetate where the fish swim through.

I found this scrap of ink smooshed cardstock in my scrap bin, and thought it looked like water, so I went with it.  

I cut through the center of the smooshed panel using a wavy die and added a strip of acetate and then attached the fish to the acetate.  I glued the cut out portion onto the inside of the card so that it would show through the acetate.

A little twine and a sentiment to celebrate someone's special day.

Oh Deer! Birthday Trio ~ Double D Challenge

Top 'O the morning to ya!  Double D is starting a new challenge this week and the theme is "Oh Deer".  This was a great boost to my masculine birthday card stash, as I made three cards!

I have a kind lady that likes to buy my cards in bulk, and she's always requesting deer birthday cards for the men in her life. 

 I went super CAS with the designs, using Jumping Deer Trio from Poppystamps.  

The Mix & Match Plaid Die from Papertrey Ink gave this card a nice woody frame.

Using up more of my printed scrapbooking paper is always a good idea!

Hedgehog Wishes ~ DRU

Good morning, friends.  Sorry for two posts on the same day.  That doesn't happen very often, but this month, it's happening twice due to two design team schedules that are overlapping.  Anyway, if you're looking for Double D's post, look HERE.  If you're looking for Dies R Us, then you're in the right place.

It's the first of the month so that means there's a new challenge starting up over at Dies R Us Challenge Blog and we're looking for some "dad / masculine" cards.

When I have a bit of free time (which isn't often), I enjoy scrolling through the pages at Dies R Us, trying to find dies that have an all-purpose use. 

Recently, I found this signpost die from Penny Black called "Which Way To Love?"

The die set comes with two different style signposts, three arrows that you can stamp your own words on, a heart arrow and the cute little bird you see perched on top.

I stamped the sentiment onto some festive printed paper and framed it by cutting a Pinpoint Single Frame from Memory Box, out of white cardstock and laying over the top.  The hedgehog is from Penny Black's, "Sweet You" stamp set.

While I had the stamps out, I stamped this skateboarding cutie and fussy cut him, along with some balloons from Sunny Studio Stamps.  I layered him over an Impression Obsession Pinked Edge Frame.

Tropical Kitties

Good morning friends.  There's a new Double D Challenge starting today and the theme is "Book Covers".

My card was clearly inspired by the book titled "There's A Tiger In The Garden".  I think that sounds like a marvelous story!

I knew immediately that I wanted to use these darling Eline's Lion/Tiger dies from Marianne Designs.  I stamped tropical leaves from Concord & 9th "Toucan Paradise" on the background of this card and added some Palm Leaves from Echo Park.

I lightly stenciled a polka dotted background for the King of the Forest on this card.  Doesn't he look fierce??

Birthday Bear Hugs ~ TSOC

Hello, hello!  The Sisterhood of Crafters is back from our holiday break and we're starting a new challenge today, asking you to use die cuts and/or an embossing Folder.  Sound fun?

Here's what I came up with, using both embossing and die cuts:

I started by embossing a piece of green cardstock using an FSJ Evergreen embossing folder.  I gently rubbed some Pine Needles DOX ink over the raised areas and cut a circle out of the center.

I stamped this darling image from Uniquely Creative Polar Pals and colored it with Copics.  I backed the circle using a piece of watercolor printed paper, tucked the bears in and stamped the hearts from the stamp set, surrounding the bears with love.

To finish it off, I adhered a  Happy Birthday die cut from My Favorite Things.

Time Capsule ~ Dies R Us ~ One For The Boys

Hello stamplings ~  There's a new challenge starting up today over at the Dies R Us Challenge blog and the theme is "One For The Boys".

Like many of you, I struggle with making masculine cards.  It's easy for me to create with flowers, cute animals and all things that women love, but when it comes men, I'm at a loss.  I've been trying to add dies to my collection that are more masculine and these dies from Marianne Designs all seem to work together to create a strong, masculine card.

I used Tiny's Creatables Clock Face, Hurricane Lamp and leaves from Open Hip Flower Set.

Gnome-y Warm Thoughts ~ TSOC ~ Autumn

Happy Fall' Yall!  The Sisterhood of Crafters is starting a new challenge and the theme is "Autumn".  

I've had these darling Gnome images, "You Gnome Me" from My Favorite Things sitting in my coloring pile for a really long time and finally decided it was time to color them up.  Sadly they're discontinued by I think Gnomes will always be popular.

I also remembered that I had this cute little Nut House from Pink & Main that seemed to be the perfect home for these little gnomes on a slimline card.

A bit of ink blending in the background and some die cut grass  brings this whole card together perfectly.  Wouldn't you love to live there or at least come across these little fellas in your garden? 

I would!
