Snow Couple Treat Box

I created this little snow couple treat box using an image from Crafty Secrets Retro Christmas CD #5 and thought I would enter it in the challenge going on at Really Reasonable Ribbon, as the challenge is "gift packaging" with ribbon, lace or trim.
It uses both ric-rac and twine so I think those count.

I also made this little treat bag as well, using another Crafty Secrets image, that I'll link up too. They have the best vintage images and I just love working with them! I also just recently took advantage of the sale going on a RRR and can't wait for my order to arrive so I can play more and enter more of their fun challenges!!

Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Vintage Christmas Banner

Hello again. Yes, I'm here making another post when I should be cleaning my house and getting things ready for tomorrow's family festivities. Just a quick post to show a Christmas banner I made using some vintage BINGO images I just recently got at Iralamija on Etsy. This was my first purchase from her and I will definitely be visiting again as the images are adorable and come out of my printer crisp and clear.
I'm entering this into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday Challenge because they're both "Anything Goes".

Here's a breakdown of the individual pieces so you can see them better. It's really cute in real life.

Oops! I see I missed a close up of one but you can click on the pictures to get a larger view. You get the idea...
Thanks so much for visiting! Blessings~ Birgit

Gift Card Holder

Good Wednesday morning and Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I've got lots of cleaning and prepping to do today for the family feast tomorrow. Part of that includes cleaning my craft room but not before I post this little gift card holder that I made that just happens to meet the color requirements for the Color Throwdown Challenge this week.
I'm also entering this into the Word Art Wednesday Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge because "anything goes"!
Karen Letchworth clued me in to the challenge over at Really Reasonable Ribbon, so I'm linking this up to their challenge as well. Thanks Karen! You've been so kind!

Here's my project:

I used a spellbinders die and embossed it with clear embossing powder, using PTI's Background Basics Tin Types, scored the two sides to make it fold in and then embellished it with PTI's Candy Cane Christmas. I added some Martha Stewart glitter to the candy canes to sugar them up a bit! The little tag is Stitched Tag Die Stacks from MFT and tied off with a scrap of white polka dot sheer ribbon.
My wish for you all is to have abundant joy and love this Thanksgiving. Thanks for visiting. Blessings~ Birgit

PTI November Blog Hop ~ Snowflakes

PaperTrey Ink is having their November Blog Hop and it's all about sparkly snowflakes.

This first card I made uses Fancy Flakes Die Set. I have a niece who lives in Florida so I thought I would mail her some snowflakes from Maine since we get a fair amount of snow each year. (wink ;-))

For my next card, I used Out On A Limb to make the tree branch and then stamped some pine sprigs from Bells & Boughs. The pinecones are from Peaceful Pinecones. I added snow using a white gel pen and the snowflakes are again, from Fancy Flakes Die Set
Have fun on the blog hop! Thanks for visiting. Blessings~ Birgit

Plaid Stamping

Happy Monday! Today's MIM challenge with Ashley Canon Newell was all about stamping a plaid background. Now that's a challenge I can handle! I chose to use the color palette from Color Throwdown, since I like it so much!
Here's my card:

Products Used: Candy Cane Christmas Stamp & Die Set from PTI and plaid background builder set from MFT. I also used the pine punch from Martha Stewart and Spellbinders Nestabilities for the ovals. I added some clear Wink of Stella to the little peppermint candies and stickles on the candy canes.

Warm Wooly Mittens

I've been having so much fun playing with the new Cozy Mittens set from Lisa Johnson Designs from My Favorite Things. I made this card to go along with their Color Palette Challenge and their Sketch Challenge.

The design possibilities for these mittens are endless, as far as your imagination will allow!
I also used the Blueprints #20 & #13.

My Favorite Things is having their color palette challenge. Here's the colors:

And here's my card:

This challenge was the perfect opportunity to play with my new Blueprints #20. Love the quilt design!!

Crafty Secrets Treat Box

I created this cute little Christmas goodie box using some digital elements from the Crafty Secrets Retro Christmas CD #5. I printed the background papers onto cardstock and cut them in a Mason Jar design, using my cricut cutting machine.

I created a little box to fit between the two sides to stash some Christmas goodies in.

Once the goodie box was assembled, I added the image printed from the same CD and embellished the box with some vintage rick-rak, twine, buttons, burlap and a bell. The cute little tag was from the Christmas Creative Scraps.
Thanks so much for looking. Blessings~ Birgit

Warm & Cozy

I couldn't stop at my last card (see this post) since it didn't give me the craft fix that I needed. Just yesterday, I received a package of fun mail from MFT and I couldn't wait to ink up the adorable mittens by Lisa Johnson Designs. Here's the card I made for this challenge:

I'm tellin' you, if you are looking for a cute mitten stamp set, this is the one! I adore all the little elements in this set that help you create your very own set of perfectly stitched mittens. I can see that I'm going to have a hard time putting this set down.
Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Christmas Poinsettia

The Color Throwdown just posted their new color challange:

Sweet picture and great colors. Right?

So I just happened to go into my craft room to try to come up with something and just happened to have this poinsettia image sitting on my work table that I just created yesterday. I stamped it, masked it with liquid glaze and had let it dry for the day. What a wonderful realization to see that the colors fit the challenge perfectly, so I whipped up this little card layout in a flash, so I could post it today!

Supplies Used:
Painted Poinsettia from PTI
Postmarks from PTI
Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers from PTI
Peaceful Pinecones from PTI
Postage Stamp Dies from MFT
Blueprints #20 from MFT

Poinsettia Die from Spellbinders.

Merry Christmas Bells

Even though this has been out for a while, this set of Bells & Boughs from PTI is new to me this year, so I've really been enjoying inking it up to create some Christmas cards. I love the vintage-y looking bells in the set. So here's another card I made to enter into the Merry Monday Challenge and the Festive Friday Challenge.

I think this will be a timeless set, since it can be used for weddings, anniversaries, Christmas and other celebrations as well. There are so many elements to choose from, it's becoming a fast favorite of mine that I turn to time and time again. Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Christmas Bells

Good Wednesday morning paper peeps. I'm here to add a card to the Merry Monday Challenge using bells on my project.
Here's their challenge photo:

Here's my card:

I used PTI's Bells & Boughs, Holiday Double Cuts and some really old design paper to create this card with a clear acetate window. The acetate is hard to photograph but here's another view.

Love Is the Thread That Binds

Just popping in to add this card to the fabulous challenge over at The Curtain Call. I am not good at sewing but I just love sewing themed cards and images.
Here's the challenge:

And here's my card:

I paper pieced and used an embossing folder to create the background to look like a cozy quilt. The spool image is from PaperTrey Ink from a set called "Hanging By A Thread" and the sentiment is also PTI and is called "Stitched Sentiments".
Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

So Grateful

It is the season of giving thanks however, I don't think we need a "season" to be thankful. We should have thankful hearts throughout the entire year. Even when we're struggling, we can take a deep breath and remember to count our blessings. If I remind myself that there's always someone's who's struggles are greater than mine, it helps me keep things in perspective.
I DO however, enjoy sending Thanksgiving cards to friends and family to let them know how thankful I am for their place in my life. Here's a card I made that goes along with the challenge at The Paper Players.

This is their challenge photo

And here's my card:

Here are some great Bible verses to help us be mindful about giving thanks to God for His abundant blessings.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ~ Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Psalm 100:1-5 ~ A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Philippians 4:6 ~ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

I hope you find many ways to count your blessings this week, next week and into the next year! Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Christmas Joy!

There's a warm, rustic color challenge going on right now at the Paper Players Color challenge Blog.

Isn't it so warm and festive? I'd love to have the whole outfit in my closet!
Here's my card I made for the challenge.

I'm getting my card in just in time for the challenge to come to a close. Haha! I'm always pushing the limit but at least it's in. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

MIM ~ Stamped Ombre Background

Good Tuesday morning paper peeps! Today's card was made for PTI's MIM Challenge by the fabulous and funny Laura Bassen on stamping an ombre background. I've been wanting to ink up this image from Happiness in Bloom. I confess that for as long as I've had this set, I've never used this image. It looks like a neat little row of Christmas trees so I thought this was the perfect challenge to use it.

I started by stamping my center row in the darkest green, Ripe Avacado. I continued stamping my rows in succession using Simply Chartreuse and Spring Moss. I stuck with using the flowers from Happiness in Bloom, trying to give them the look of poinsettias using Pure Poppy and Scarlet Jewel ink and Harvest Gold for the centers. The sentiment was made using Boutique Borders Christmas Stamp set stamped in Pure Poppy and Smokey Shadow. I finished it off with a few gold colored enamel dots.
You can find all the details and video tutorial from Laura HERE.

Cooking With Crafty Secrets!

Hello again! I'm here as a guest designer for Crafty Secrets. Sandy so generously gave me the new digital sets Retro Kitchen and Kitchen Memories for being the guest for their November Linky party. If you've never worked with digital images, you must give it a try! I'm still very new at it but am finding that there is so much freedom in using digital images. You can use and resize the images over and over again. You'll never run out of product!! Just look at those vibrant colors of these awesome images!
With that said, here's my creation using those two sets.

I created a "New Cook" set that would be perfect to give as a bridal shower gift or to someone who is just moving out on their own. It's a folder that includes, shopping lists, recipe cards and cooking notes that will help them get started on their cooking adventures.

Everything I used was printed from these kits, including the background papers. I did go through my CS Image Journals and found a few other shopping lists and notes that I tucked in to the pockets. What's not to love about a kit that has everything!

Here's the folder with the coordinating card. The vintage measuring spoons in the first photo were added after I started my photo shoot. The folder was lacking texture and dimension and the measuring spoons were just what it needed.

When I gift this, I'll be adding a nice mixing bowl, some wooden spoons and spatulas, a cook book and some other baking and cooking gadgets.

Thanks so much for looking and thanks especially to Sandy and the design team for letting me join in on the fun this month! Blessings~ Birgit

A Stocking Was Hung

So this is a really late entry for the Make-It Monday challenge for partial die cuts.

I used Rustic Cream cardstock to cut the snowflakes and stocking out of and then I spritzed them with gold glimmer mist. I stamped some Spring Rain stripes onto the cuff of the stocking and then embellished it with Painted Poinsettia. This is becoming a new favorite set of mine! I spritzed the poinsettia and leaves with more glimmer mist in cherry and green. The double ended banners made a perfect "tags" for my sentiment, which was also from Painted Poinsettias. Another Christmas tag done!

A Rustic Christmas Wish

Hello paper peeps! About this time of year, I start joining in on the Merry Monday Christmas Challenges. For some reason, I just can't get into it throughout the rest of the year. Normally after Halloween passes is about the time I start thinking about joining in on the fun again. I hope that doesn't harbor any ill feelings, it's just me being me. Anyway, here's my card I'm entering in to this challenge.

Using creams, browns and tans and having a rustic look is right up my alley! Love working with Kraft and neutrals, normally with a splash of red (but this one has a splash of green!)

Love the post card image from Stampendous! The pine cones are from Peaceful Pine Cones from PTI as well as the snowflakes, which are from Snowflake Medley. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Note Niblets Die Colleciton

The Christmas tree is from MFT.

Crafting with Crafty Secrets

Well, Hello and welcome to the Crafty Secrets November Linky Party! I am over the moon excited that I was asked to be a guest designer for the November Linky Party. I love anything vintage and Sandy has got the best vintage images ever! And, even better than that, she's going DIGITAL so you have all the great graphics and you can size them and play with them as often as your little heart desires. Truly, I am humbled and honored to be working with such a talented team of artists. I only hope I can meet the high standards they set this month. Let's get started, shall we?
I have oodles and oodles of old buttons and I really enjoy seeing vintage button cards on display and have quite a collection on Pinterest! I am working with the images from "Creating with Retro Christmas" CD #5. Oh my giddy heart, there are so many amazing images on this CD, it was hard to choose which ones I was going to use. You'll see, I've used quite a lot of them so this post is picture heavy. Be forewarned! Grab a cup of something warm and yummy and kick back and enjoy my tutorial on how to make your own button cards.
