Happy For You!

This week's PTI ~ Make it Monday challenge is by the fabulous Danielle Flanders on using vellum overlays on your cards. I admit that I don't use a lot of vellum so this one was a bit of a challenge for me. I embraced the challenge and made two cards using vellum overlays.
Here's the first card I made:
For this card I used vellum to soften the boldness of the chevron background and also on top of my butterflies.

Products Used:
Vertical Chevron Impression Plate from PTI, Beautiful Butterflies from PTI
My other card is a Christmas card. You can never get started too early! It's always kind of fun for me when it's 80 degrees outside to work with Christmasy images.

Products used:
Kraft cardstock base, printed paper from MME, Poinsettia stamp from Year of Flowers from PTI, Sentiment from Happiest of Holidays from PTI

Card #4 ~ PTI's Make it Monday Challenge

Here's my final card using Melissa Phillip's challenge technique found on Nicole's blog. This one is my favorite because I love the blue and yellows together. I saw a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store the other day in these colors and was inspired to use them.

Again, Rosie Posie was my choice of flowers for this card. I went with a single layer inlaid die cut card. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Card #3 for PTI ~ Make it Monday Challenge

Here's my third card using Melissa Phillips technique found here on Nicole's blog.

I really love how each element effects the stamped images. This was makes me think of groovy, psychedelic card from the 70's. Thanks so much for looking! Blessings ~ Birgit

Card #2 for PTI ~ Make it Monday Challenge

Here's another card I made using Melissa Phillips technique, using chalks, stamps and impression plates. You can check out the tutorial HERE.

PTI ~ Make It Monday Challenge

Each week, I eagerly look forward to Monday's to see what the talented design team from PaperTrey Ink come up with for a challenge. This week was the sweet Melissa Phillips turn and her challenge was to combine the use of chalks, stamps and impression plates. You can find the tutorial HERE. What a unique combination, right?
I pulled out my embossing plates and went to town embossing four cardstock bases using different embossing plates. Then I chalked or used Gelato's until each was covered using different colors. Here's the first card:
This one was a checked pattern and I think there was too much blank space for the stamping. It was hard to tell what the images were that I stamped. I used my all time favorite, Rosie Posie. I'll have to post the other cards in separate posts because I don't know how to link using the same post. Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Thanks A Bunch!

Here's another card I made for the Color Throwdown challenge since I had extra time on my hands today because of the rain. I had these flowers from PTI's Sweet Life, left over from another project and the colors worked perfectly for this challenge, so I made this card too.

I started with a Sweet Blush cardstock base and cut the printed paper from Authentique using MFT Blueprints #13. I cut the jar from PTI's Friendship Jar twice, once from white cardstock and once from vellum. The water is stamped in Aqua Mist and the stems using Simply Chartreuse. I heat embossed the sentiment on the vellum jar in white using PTI's Floral Frenzie. The ribbon is cut using MFT Blueprints #13 and stamped using Sweet 'N Sassy's Vintage Postcard set. Thanks so much for visiting! Blessings~ Birgit

Happy For You!

Today was super rainy here in Maine, so I found time to spend playing with my stamps! I enjoyed working with the color combination for the Color Throwdown challenge. Here's their colors:

And here's my card:

I started with a Berry Sorbet cardstock base and cut the printed paper from Authentique, using MFT Blue Prints #13. That must be one of my favorite dies to use! I stamped my favorite Rosie Posie, from PTI, using Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado. The doily was cut using Sweet Blush cardstock from the French Pastry Doily Die from Cheery Lynn Designs and the sentiment is from MFT Blissful Butterflies using Ocean Tides ink. I added a vintage seam binding ribbon along with sheer polka dot ribbon from RRR.
Simple and sweet! Thanks for looking. Blessings~ Birgit

Sweet 'N Sassy ~ Scripture Spotlight

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" ~ Psalm 119:105
This weeks challenge over at the Sweet 'N Sassy blog is to use scripture somewhere on your card. You can never go wrong with God's Holy Word! Here's my card:

I was inspired by the watercolor card I found Here. I wanted to use some peachy orange colors and spritzed each stamp with a good dose of water after inking them up.
I just received the "New Beginnings" stamp and die set in the mail today and couldn't wait to get home and get them inky! What a lovely set; I just love the butterflies!!! The verse is an old rubber stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. Since it's a rubber stamp and not clear, I have trouble getting it stamped straight on my card. Ah well! It's still pretty.
Here is another card that I made much more like the sample found on the blog.
I purposely left it blank with no sentiment since I didn't know what occasion I might use it for. I often do that and then stamp a sentiment in when I need it.
The inside is blank too...
I am also entering this card into the Word Art Wednesday challenge. Thanks for visiting! Blessings~ Birgit

Grateful for your Friendship

One more card to post before I retire for the night with my devotions. I made another card for the MFT Sketch Challenge #179. I just got the butterfly die cuts in the mail so I couldn't wait to play with them.
I used the same line of paper as my previous card. Very fun and colorful! Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

MFT ~ Get Sketchy #179

I haven't participated in a MFT sketch challenge in a really long time so it was fun getting back into the crafty mode for this weeks challenge. Here's the card I made:
This bright color palette is very different for me but one I try to use from time to time.
I think it's a fun little card! Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Crafty Secrets ~ June Linky Party

It's time again for Sandy's Crafty Secrets Linky Party! I just love all of her vintage images and, for all you digital fans, she's now going digital! However, I'm still using paper. Change comes hard for this girl but I'm working on it. Anyway, here's the cards I made for the challenge.

I used an image that originally had three birds in ovals from Birds and Botanicals Journal Booklet. I fussy cut each oval and put them on a scalloped oval cut from a spellbinders die and then I added three layers of UTEE. Once they were cooled and set, one of the bird images was quite warped and as I was trying to flatten it, I cracked the UTEE! So I got two cards out of the image instead of three. I loved how the UTEE deepened the colors in the images and added to the vintage-y look.
I made home made envelopes which I lined with the same rustic wood plank paper.

Overall, I think they came out pretty sweet! Thanks for visiting! Blessings~ Birgit

A Rosie Anniversary Card

Today's card was made using this color palette from the Color Throwdown challenge blog.

Pretty! Right?
My colors are Sweet Blush, Melon Berry and Scarlet Jewel from PTI.
After stamping the small roses from "Sweet Life" from PTI onto my strip of white cardstock, I ran it through the Grand Calibur with a MFT embossing plate to give it some texture. The sentiment is also from MFT, "About Anniversaries".
I decided it needed a little punch of color, so I added the leaves after I took the first photo for the challenge. I struggle sometimes thinking flowers always need green leaves. I'm trying to be an overcomer. Lord help me! Thanks for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

Another Cute Little Note Pad!

Here's another cute little note pad I made for the Make it Monday challenge at Nicole's blog. This one is a floral theme using just silhouettes.
Here's a peek at the inside pages.

Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit

PTI ~ Make It Monday Notepads

Erin Lincoln just continues to amaze me with her creative energy. This weeks Make it Monday tutorial was how to make these adorable little notepads. You can find out all the details HERE on Nicole's blog. Here's one that I made using a postal theme:
Here's a peek at the inside pages
I used 4 of each page so I can make two books using one sheet of each color paper. I also adhered them the long way since they were supposed to be like little post cards. I used my postage stamp scissors to trim the printed paper on the cover.
I liked how Keri let her printed paper fold back into the notepad from the bottom so I did that as well. It's nice because it contains the note cards so I don't have to worry about them falling out.

These were so much fun to make I went right back to work making another set that I'll post in a later post. Thanks so much for looking! Blessings~ Birgit
