Three Cards, Three Challenges

I'm starting this post off with a card I made for the Share Joy Challenge using the colors from their color palette and my own design instead of the sketch.
I used Taylored Expressions "Bloomin' Boots" set and added an MFT Umbrella.  The colors look more like the colors in their inspiration photo in real life, than they do in this picture.  I find that the colors on my new laptop are very different than the colors on my old computer screen and I'm not sure how to fix that.  Change comes so hard for me...

My next card is for the CASology Challenge

I did some color blending on water color card stock using Zig Clean Color Pens and let it dry.  While it was drying, I cut out 4 Frantic Stamper Crayons out of white card stock and put them together.  Once the colored card stock was dry, I cut another crayon and put that together.  I really love how it looked all colored up!

The sentiment is from MFT's Friends Like Us

My final card was made for The Challenge #75
I used Elizabeth Craft Designs "Hot Air Balloons" and clouds from MFT.  The sentiment is from MFT's Butterfly Bliss.

I'll also be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

Happy Little Stampers June CASE the Designer Challenge

It's the first of June, well it is in Ausralia, anyway.  And since that's where our Happy Little Stampers Headquarters is located, that means it's time for the June CASE the Designer challenge.
This month, we're CASing the ever talented Rahmat Gouse.  Just look at her fun design for a card this month:
Here's my take on her card:
I went with a similar style background in silver, but mine is a piece of design paper that I found in my stash.  I thought it would work perfectly for CASing her card and I think I was right.  I used Altenew's Beautiful Day set and stamped it using their coordinating color cubes.  I'm really enjoying these coordinating color cubes as all the work of matching colors is done for me.  On this card I used the Red Sunset and Green Fields sets of color.  I heat embossed the outline of the flower and leaves in silver, like Rahmat did.  I also added the silver embossed sentiment banner, but overlayed the vellum on a banner of white card stock as well.

I enjoyed making this card so much that I made another card using the Cool Summer Night colors.

Be sure to hop on over to the Happy Little Stampers Blog to see all the great cards from the design team and join in on the fun.

Bring On The Cake!

Here's a card to celebrate AAA Cards 2nd birthday!

and using the Muse challenge as inspiration!

I was inspired by the framed focal point.

I started by masking off the outside edges of my card front and stamping the streamers from PTI's Hooray Stamp Set and Birthday Style.  Next I stamped the sentiment around the border of the Impression Obsession Frame and adhered it over the card front.  I think you'll see from past posts that I've really been getting in to that lately.  ;0)
I added the cake from PTI's Just Desserts sitting on a PTI die cut Cake Plate.  Some colorful sequins finish this off.

I hope you'll check out the festivities going on at AAA Card Challenge, there's lots of fun prizes up for grabs!

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

A Masculine Birthday Greeting

Masculine cards don't always come easy to me but this one, featuring all Impression Obsession products came together super quick and easy!

I used the grid die #172-I, truck die #218-I, All In One Rectangle Frame die #291-WW and a sentiment from 174-W.

A Cheery Lynn Challenge #230 ~ To Someone Special...

I can't get enough of this Cheery Lynn Sunflower!!!  I made another card for their next challenge:  Lots of Layers

Aside from the obvious Sunflower Set, I also used their Nautical Wheeler Die and Horizon Fishtail Banner.  I'm not good at lots of layers, but I hope this will be enough to get me into this weeks challenge.  The sentiment is from My Creative Time and was stamped on an MFT Banner.

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

Monthly Challenge with Marcia

I can't believe how quickly May passed us by!  It's the end of the month already so that means it's time for Marcia's and my monthly challenge.  I really look forward to each month and our challenges.  Marcia helps me think outside of my box and challenges me in so many fun ways, not to mention that I love our growing friendship.

This month we decided since we both had gotten the Beautiful Day set from Altenew, that that's what we would use for this month's challenge.
And, since all my cards are made using the same set, I won't go into detail about what was used on each card so this will be an easy post.
Here we go!
This first card uses a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, but I flipped the focal point to the left.  I heat embossed the outline of the image in gold and added a strip of printed paper and a thin strip of gold...

Made a frame using one of the die cut images...

It's hard to see, but there's Wink Of Stella on the black strip and I stamped and masked the flowers and fussy cut them...

A quilted embossed background with a scalloped rectangle frame and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp...

I wanted to try a monochromatic card using fine linen, kraft and dark chocolate....
And one more card using a pretty frame from Sue Wilson ~ Australian Background Collection.

I will also be entering one of these cards into the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to stop by Marcia's blog to see her beautiful creations.  She always blows me out of the water.  ;0)

Muse Challenge #167

Good morning friends~  Today's cards show one die being used in three different ways.  I've used the Muse Challenge for my inspiration.
Here's this week's Muse from Jenni Murray:

Here's my cards featuring Die-Namites "Birds On A Wire" which is currently on a deep discount as Dies R Us is having a big pre-Memorial Day blowout sale!
On this first card, I cut the die out of water color card stock and colored the birds in using Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.  I added some yummy candy dots and a sentiment from PTI's "Bold & Beautiful".

On this card, I used the Zigs to add color to my card base and then did some ink splattering.  I can see that I need lots of practice blending these colors together.  They're not as easy to blend as I thought they'd be.  ;0)  I added the bird die cut from black card stock and a sentiment from PTI's "Swoosh".

And finally I cut a stitched rectangle from Lil' Inker's and did some ink blending using Tim Holtz Distress Inks and cut the bird die to fit the rectangle.  The sentiment is again, from PTI's "Bold & Beautiful" set.

I'll also be adding one of these cards into the following challenges:

Inky Snail Mail

Good morning friends~ I'm getting inky today with the gals over at the Use Your Stuff Challenge.  I made this card a while ago and thought this was the perfect challenge to enter it into and you'll soon see why.
Their challenge this week is "Getting Inky" and that's exactly what I did on the background of this card.

I started with a piece of white linen card stock,  cut using a stitched rectangle from MFT's Blueprints #20 and heat embossed some stitched swirls from PTI's Quilted Winter, in silver embossing powder.  I then inked up my craft mat using Peacock Feather, Faded Jeans and Pine Needles distress inks, spritzed with water and smooshed my card stock panel into the ink.  I then sprayed it with Heidi Swapp Teal Color Shine to give it some glimmer and set it aside to dry.

I didn't have any mushroom dies in the size that I wanted, but I knew I could make my own using dies that I already had.  I started by cutting some Spellbinders Nestabilities Circles and Ovals and then made a curvy cut right through the center of the them and gently rounded the sharp edges.

I colored in some white dots using a gel pen.

The stems were cut using one of the elements from MFT's Blueprints #13.

I distressed the edges with a little antique linen and cut them in random sizes and glued them to the mushroom caps.

Tada!  Completed mushrooms!
Now onto Mr. Snail...
This die is from Dies R Us, Die-namites.  You'll see this same photo in my previous post.  The die cuts all the pieces out at once, so I cut him out of white and colored him in using Copics

and then assembled him.  I added some clouds from Taylored Expressions "Bloomin' Boots" and a Grassy Edge from MFT.  I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp on to the clouds.

Here's my completed card!

Water Colored Butterflies & Blog Hopping with PTI

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's the 25th of the month so that means it's time for PTI's May Blog Hop!
They have a sweet inspiration photo this month:
Blog hop inspiration
I was inspired by the soft water coloring and the layout

I used Bitty Butterflies and stamped them onto a piece of water color card stock that I spritzed first with water.  I used Harvest Gold, Pink Lady, Mint Julep, Winter Wisteria, Orange Zest and Spring Rain. I let the colors of each butterfly bleed and then stamped on the detail lines of each butterfly while it was still damp.  Once it was dry, I stamped the sentiment from Painted Petals in Mint Julep and Spring Rain.  I framed the finished panel with their Pretty Frame Cover Plate.
Since I had the Painted Petals set out, I thought I'd give this challenge another try for the Make-It Monday Challenge, doing a masked background using water colors.  I was hoping the colors wouldn't bleed under the mask tape and thankfully it worked!

Here's the finished water colored panel after I removed the mask.

I heat embossed a sentiment from A Cheerful Heart stamp set in gold and then framed the image using the rest of the elements from the Pretty Frame Cover Plate.

I'm adding one of these cards to the following challenges:

Have fun along the hop!  I'm so glad you stopped by!!

Share Joy Challenge

Sorry for another posting on the same day, but I'm a little late getting my card in to Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge.

I used their Garden Arbor & Gate and the clouds from Bloomin' Boots to make my card.  This is a CAS challenge.  I hope this is CAS enough.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Blessings~ Birgit

Red, White & Blue ~ Cheery Lynn Challenge #229

I thought the challenge closed today, but just realized it closes tomorrow, so I'm getting this card posted to the Cheery Lynn Challenge using red, white and blue.  Talk about getting this in under the wire...

I used their Horizon Fishtail Banners and Sunflower Set to create my patriotic style card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sunflowers and Snails

Hello, hello!  It's my turn to post today over at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.
Today I have a couple of whimsical cards for you using Cheery Lynn Designs - Sunflower Set.  Let's get started!

For my first card I cut a frame using Impression Obsession All In One Rectangle Frame.  I really love this die because it cuts multiple frames in graduating shapes and sizes in one pass.  I used the outermost frame on this card and stamped the sentiment around the frame.  I cut the sunflower out of colored card stock and added some distress inks to the edges to add some depth and interest.  The plant pot is cut using Cheery Lynn's Nested Flower Pots, again adding some distress ink to the edges.
Moving on to this cute little Die-Namites Snail.  He's currently on closeout so you might want to grab him while you still can!

This die cuts all the pieces out at once so I used white card stock and colored each piece using copics and then assembled this little guy.  And here's my completed card:

I have a couple of bonus cards for you because I just couldn't stop playing with the sunflower dies!
For this card, I cut the Impression Obsession Square Border Die out of the left side of the front card panel.  I added the sunflower and a Memory Box Wonderful Watering Can.  I gently curved the sentiment to wrap around the sunflower.

And on this card I used a circle cover plate and added the sunflower and a sentiment banner for a quick and easy card.

Here's a list of products I used:
