To Someone Special

Happy Saturday!  The Sisterhood of Crafters is having a challenge right now where you can't use any design paper.  I thought that sounded like fun to try to make my own so here's a card I made using this challenge as the jumping point.

I started by stamping some small flowers on the background from corner to corner, on my card base.  I then did a little sponging to add some color to the center of the card and added some ink splats.  This fabulous frame is from Impression Obsession, and I just love it!!  You can layer it up and give it endless options of dimension, so I'm also adding this card to  Seize The Birthday, since their challenge is "dimension".  I added the flower branch and goldfinch from PTI's Spring Woods stamp set.

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a great weekend!

Blushing Flowers

I'm playing along with MUSETime Out Challenges and  Cupcake Inspirations Challenge this week.

This week's Time Out Inspiration is
'May All your weeds be wild flowers'
Tracey McNeely is this weeks MUSE Inspiration

I was inspired by Tracey's colors with the gold sentiment, which happen to line right up with Cupcake Inspirations colors and the layout of her card.  (I took a little liberty on the layout)
And, if you haven't checked out Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog yet, you really must!  They have the sweetest, and I mean "SWEETEST" inspiration photo's every week and this week their sponsor is the ever popular Altenew, so you could be the winner of their sweetest stamp set yet!!

Now onto my card:

I started with a diagonal stitched frame from MFT and used their Fall Florals to create this card in blush, red and gold.  I kept the flowers in the blush and red family and just added a touch of green for a couple of the stems and added the sentiment from PTI's Embroidered Blooms, heat embossed in gold.

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:

Dancing Hummingbirds

Good morning everyone! I'm up today on the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.
I enjoy feeding the birds and all the other little critters that come into our yard to dine on the sunflower seeds I put out. I especially enjoy the little hummers that visit our hummingbird feeders. Watching them fly up, quick as a dart and hover at the feeder while they sip the sweet sugar water, they make me think of little air dancers. With that said, I have a few cards for you today featuring the Small Hummingbird from Dee's Distinctively Dies.

Aren't they pretty?  And they go together so quickly!
I cut two sets of the hummingbirds out using two different shades of green card stock and added some Tim Holtz distress inks around the edges of each piece. By swapping up the colored pieces of each bird, this made four hummingbirds. After assembling them, I added lots of Clear Wink of Stella to their underside and the tips of their wings.  I added a drop of black Stickles for their eyes.
Next I moved on to the flowers.
The flowers are cut using Dee's Distinctively Dies Secret Garden Flower #3#2 and Secret Garden Flower #1, colored with copics, then layered.
Finally I made the base by cutting a Spellbinders Lattice and the outer frame from from Impression Obsession All In One Frames ~ Rectangles and layering the two to make this pretty framed lattice.   I layered that on the top of a light blue card stock base.

Next I added a Spellbinders Corner Sprig and added some of the layered flowers and the hummingbird.
This next card used one of the center frame elements of the Impression Obsession Rectangle Frames and flowers from Sue Wilson Exquisite Poppy.

"Dream" Altered Book Shadow Box

Good morning friends~  I have an altered book project to share with you today for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.
This project sort of evolved as I didn't start out wanting to create an altered book.  It started when I got these new Elizabeth Craft Dogwood and Tulip dies.  I created the Dogwood flowers and branch first and thought they were so beautiful, I wanted to come up with another project to showcase them all and I just happened to have this shadow box book in my closet of UFO's (Unfinished Objects).  So this is the end result.
I'll start with the Dogwood.  These flowers came together quickly and easily.  I cut everything out using white card stock and colored them using Copics.  I added some light green stickles to the ends of the stamen and around the bottom of the stamen to add shimmer and detail.
Next I created the Tulips which I cut using colored card stock and just added on some shading using distress inks.  I found video's online from Susan Tierney Cockburn (the designer of these amazing flowers), on how to form the flowers and leaves and how to put them together.  Again, very simple!!
The butterfly is the small butterfly from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I simply blended some distress inks onto white card stock before cutting out the pieces of the butterfly and then layered it together.  You can see a cluster of leaves in the background from Poppy Stamps called Hampstead Stem.  There's also a really old Spellbinders Fern in the background cut out of dark green card stock.
Moving on to the banner, I cut that using PTI's Heart 2 Heart and used a typewriter font to stamp the letters.
The top flower cluster uses the center of Cheery Lynn's Nautical Wheeler Doily.  I added a silk flower and a flower cluster that I got from a stamper friend in a flower swap we did a while ago.  The leaves are MFT's Royal Leaves, cut out of green card stock.  The colored gems are called Lovebird Tear Drops from The Robin's Nest.

That completes my project for today!
