Under The Sea

Cupcake Inspirations just started a new challenge and I know it's one you won't want to miss!  Here's the inspiration photo:

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add this card to their Under the Sea challenge using the colors from ColourQ

Especially since I recently got these sweet Elizabeth Craft Designs sea shell dies from Dies R Us.

I made this card into a shaker card using lots of blue/green sequins for the water.  I used a pine sprig punch from Martha Stewart because I thought it looked like coral, under the bottom sea shell.  I added a banner sentiment to finish it off.  

This card is a sneak peek of an upcoming post so be watching for more fun cards using these dies.

You're The Best! ~ A Time Out Challenge

Good morning, I'm here with a card for the Time Out Challenge using their fabulous inspiration photo:

I used MFT's Fall Florals and stamped the flowers in jewel tones, as that was what I picked up on from the inspiration photo.  Well, the colors and the brick wall.  I started by embossing the white card stock with a brick embossing folder and gently rubbed some grey ink over the center of the bricks randomly.  Then I cut and stamped the flowers.

After I stamped the flowers, I stamped them again using Versamark Ink and swept some pearlized powders over each of the flowers, giving them a shimmery look.  I don't remember the name of the powders, my mind has gone completely blank!  I tried to capture the shine.  You can kind of see how they look in these close up photos.  

ETA:  Loll suggested that I used Perfect Pearls and she was absolutely right!  Thanks LOLL!!  

After I was done taking pictures, I still felt like something was missing so I added some small butterflies cut from colored card stock that I gave some sparkle to, using a clear Wink Of Stella pen.

Hello Kitty

There's a new challenge up at the Impression Obsession Blog where the theme is "Furry Friends".  I've never been able to enter their challenges before because I didn't really have enough of their dies, since you can only use their product for the challenges.  I'm working on growing my supply of dies and can finally enter their challenges, although you may see a lot of their dies used often in my posts.  

I started by sponging on some blue ink using the landscape die to create the look of clouds.  I cut the All-In-One Rectangle Frames out of white card stock and popped it up using fun foam and set it aside while I built the card front.  I added the Hill Landscape cut from three different shades of green and added some Country Fences.  I cut the Mini Cats out of cream card stock and added some sponged color.  I cut the Bouquet and added the greens and some of the flowers to the bottom right corner of the card and set one of the kitties in front.  The sentiment is from Greeting Set and then I finished by placing the popped up frame over the top. 

It looks like this cat got his tail caught in a door!  I bent it when I was adding the distress ink.  I promise you that no kitties were harmed in the making of this project.  ;0)  

All the dimension makes me happy!

PTI Make-It Monday ~ Gradient Watercolor Die Cuts

Hello PTI friends~  This week, the talented Dawn McVey was up with a video for Make-It Monday where she showed us about doing gradient watercolor die cuts.  

I used these three Zigs to watercolor the Pretty Frame Die.  I really love the soft water colored look of the frame once it was dry.  At first, I didn't think it was blending that well but once it dried I found I liked it better.  I guess I need to practice patience.  

I then used Brushed Blooms for the focal point by inking up the stamp and spritzing it with water before stamping it onto the die cut water color card stock.  The sentiment is from Bold & Beautiful Sentiments
