Oceanside Sunset

Are you enjoying your summer so far?  Here on the East Coast we make the best of our short summer season with visits to the ocean.  I love the feeling of my feet sitting in the warm sand at the beach and listening to the waves as they roll in and out.  Today's card is inspired by sitting and watching the sunset at the beach.

Here's a quick glimpse at the dies I used to create this scenic card.

I started by creating a simple sunset background using Distress inks and then spritzing the ocean with a bit of water.

I ripped some printed paper that looked like sand and added some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to the edges and then layered them.

I cut the Poppystamps Seaside Lighthouses out of white cardstock as well as the Memory Box Seaside TreasuresImpression Obsession Sea Birds and Impression Obsession Beach Chairs.  I also cut an Impression Obsession Beach Fence out of kraft cardstock and Impression Obsession Small Grass out of olive green cardstock.  I added color to some of the dies using distress inks.

I tried a couple different layouts.  One including the fence and one without.  Which one do you like better?

For the sake of finishing this post, I asked my daughter and she said she liked the one without the fence because it was less busy.
I guess "less is more" in this case so this was the final outcome.

Here's a list of products I used that can be found at Dies R Us:
Poppystamps - Dies - Seaside Lighthouses Memory Box - Dies - Seaside TreasuresImpression Obsession - Dies - Sea Birds
Impression Obsession - Dies - Beach ChairsImpression Obsession - Dies - Beach FenceImpression Obsession - Dies - Small Grass

You have totally captured our East Coast! Your background is awesome and I love all of the dies you chose. Yes, I do love that fence but I prefer your card without it. FANTASTIC!

OK, I have to be the one that disagrees! I really like the one with the fence! Maybe because here in West Michigan we see fences like that all the time at Lake Michigan...usually to hold back all the snow that comes during our loooooong Winters! But either way, both cards are truly lovely Birgit! Love all the dies you used (especially the beach chairs...maybe I could have a couple??) and really LOVE your blended background! FABULOUS card my friend!! :0)

Both cards are beautiful and capture the tranquility of the ocean at night. The card with the fence reminds me of the oceans we used to be able to walk to from our campgrounds in Maine, having to walk through the fence to get down to the beach where the second card comes in to play; to me it's more down on the beach without the fence, closer to the water. Love the vibrant colors you used. Both a great scene cards.

Thanks for your kind comment. I used Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed for the sky and Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and a tiny bit of Dusty Concord for the water.
