12 Kits of Occasion ~ March

Good morning friends!  The end of March is here and that means it's time for the 12 Kits of Occasion gals to post their projects.
This month's kit comes from Jessica Davis from The Paper Parade.  Her kit was pure delight and filled with creative ways to say "Thanks"!

I made 5 cards but have plenty of supplies left to CASE my teamies.  ;0)

Shimmer is always so hard to capture in a photo but this card has shimmer sprayed over the background.  The unicorns horn, mane and tail have a generous dose of Wink of Stella.  It's so sparkly in real life.  The background is one that I made while in Newton, Kansas at the Craft House.

The sentiment on this background paper was too sweet not to give main attention to.  The little bears, lightly colored with Copics, were all that was needed on this card.

So many wonderful ways to say "thanks".

I've had my eye on these MFT owls for a long time and was so excited to finally have a chance to use them.  I have three more waiting for me on my craft table.
Be sure to visit the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how my team mates used Jessica's darling kit.  Thanks so much Jessica!

Egg Hunt

Hello and Happy Easter!  I'm so sad that this is my final post for Dies R Us.  Thank you so much Dani and Darlene for allowing me to be part of this amazing team.  I'll sure miss this group of talented designers but I'm glad to know that I'll be seeing you all in blog-land.

It's so easy to whip up cute cards in a jiffy with the dies you can find at Dies R Us.  This card literally took me about 15 minutes to make using a pre-printed background and printed papers.  Here's how I made it:
I started by cutting the Frantic Stamper Assorted Bunnies out of Desert Storm card stock and brushed the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Next I cut the words Happy Easter using Frantic Stamper Elegant Happy Spring Easter Words out of rainbow printed paper that my sweet friend Ann shared with me a while ago.  Thanks Ann!

I cut these little eggs using Impression Obsession Egg Block out of solid card stock and some printed papers.  I stamped the plain colored eggs using larger egg stamps that I had with patterns on them, using the same color ink.  This is a fun way to add pattern to plain cardstock.

This card assembled quickly using Best Ever Glue that's now available in the DRU store.

I hope you're inspired by today's project.  You can find all these dies and so many more amazing products at Dies R Us.

PTI ~ Make-It Monday Stenciled Edges

S
Hello ~  I've got a quick post with the card I made for this week's PTI ~ Make-it Monday challenge.
Lizzie showed us a great technique for creating stenciled edges on our cards.  I like this technique and have done it before, but I never think of using it so I'm glad she reminded me of it.
I used one of the stencils from the Garden Gate Make-it Market kit for the stenciling around the edges.  I love the flowers from Seasonal Borders: Spring!  It took a few times to line them up properly, but in the end they came out ok.  I used the same Layered Banner Die that Lizzie used.
You can join in on the fun here.

I'll also be adding this card to the following challenges:
The Sisterhood of Crafters ~ Spring Flowers
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

PTI March Blog Hop

Hello friends~   I'm playing along with PTI's March Blog Hop and combining it with Melissa Phillip's Make-It Monday Challenge.
Here's the inspiration photo for the blog hop:
The focus for my card was the soft yellows and pinks of the flowers in that pretty "nest like" basket.

I used Beautiful Berries ~ SpringShape Shifters ~ Circle and Banner Style and sponged some leaves on the background using the leaf stencil from Garden Gate Make-it Market kit.
I mentioned that I'm combining this with Melissa's Make-it Monday Embossing Enamel Splatters.  I didn't have any chunky embossing powder so I used my regular embossing powder but it was so fine it kept blowing off my butterfly.  Now that I've been looking at some of the other projects I got some good tips on melting it from underneath or using an ink splatter stamp and versa mark first.  Now why didn't I think of that?

My butterfly definitely doesn't have the lovely shabby look that Melissa's butterfly does but it was a nice finishing touch on this card.

I hope you'll join in on the fun!  You can find the details of the blog hop here.

Color Throwdown #485 ~ Hello Friend

Hello crafty friends~  I'm popping in with a card I made using this pretty color palette from Color Throwdown.

It's so clean and fresh, I love it!
I used one of my favorite flower stamps from PTI called Gran's Garden.  My grandmother had many flower gardens that I remember her tending to so carefully when I was young.

I took right after her with a love for flowers and gardening myself, though I'm not quite as good at is as she was.
You can find all the details on the challenge and see lots of pretty inspiration here.

I'll be adding this card to the following challenges:
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

Transormation Tuesday with PTI

Hello~ Just popping in with a card I made / transformed for PTI's Transformation Tuesday.

I made this card a while ago using PTI's Tulip Time and while I liked it, the background seemed too busy.

I rebuilt the card using the same design but changing up the background using a softer piece of patterned paper.  The ticket (in place of the tag) was a freebie that I won in a past challenge.

My BIG ~ Memorable Adventure

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and joining my friends to post pictures and projects from my trip to The Craft House in Newton, Kansas.

If you want to visit a place that is bright and cheery and so inpirational, then check out the pictures of this beautifully restored Victorian home here.

Colleen, Linda, Nancy, Kara & Marcia have all been my blogging buddies for the past several years now and we finally had the chance to meet and spend a weekend together.

I love that we all had so much more than stamping in common.  We shared stories, joys and life struggles just like close sisters would.

I have to say that I am forever blessed by these gals friendships and even more, the gift of getting to meet each one in real life.  They are my sisters at heart.
Our first morning after coffee and breakfast, we learned some coloring techniques from a master coloring artist, Kara Lynn.

Here's my finished card:
I still can't believe I colored that!

Nancy brought her Finetic Pearl Colors.  These are so pretty used on dark cardstock.  Just look at the shimmer!

I loved this Blooms Fill-In from Concord & 9th.  Oh, the color possibilites!  And they just came out with a new one using Posie's.  Sweet!

Another "Kara" inspired card using PTI's Brushed Birds and Distress Oxide Inks.

I had the best time at the Craft House meeting all these wonderful gals.  Thanks so much to Meg, the owner of the Craft House for making this beautiful old house available to crafty groups like ours and for making it so bright and inspirational.

A "Twofer" for you!

Good morning friends~  It's been snowing like crazy here on the east coast so what else is there to do but spend the day in my craft room and play!

I missed the last "Twofer Card Challenge" and I was determined not to miss this one!

I used this cute image from Stamping Bella called Gardening Chicks.
For my first card (Get Well), I stamped the image on water color paper and colored it using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.  I mounted it on MFT Plaid Patterns and added a Dee's Distinctively Secret Garden Flower, that was also water colored.

For the second card (Easter) , I masked off the stamp and just used one flower and bird from the image.  I die cut it using Memory Box Half A Dozen Eggs.  I also cut three of the same sized eggs from these fun polka dotted papers from ECD ~ Thinking About Rio De Janeiro.

I also wanted to share this darling card using MFT's Friends Furever image that sweet Kara from Bright Hope Creations helped us all color when we were at the Craft House in Kansas.  I learned so much from Kara and I'm hooked on learning more!  Thanks so much Kara~ love you girl!
You can find all the details of Darnell's Twofer Challenge here.

Here's some links to help you easily find the products I used:

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:
Simon Says Monday Challenge ~ Easter / Spring
