12 Kits of Occasion ~ November

Wow!  Where does the time go? And how quickly time flies!  November flew by like a leaf in the wind and I am scrambling to get this post done for the 12 Kits of Occasion team post.  Our hostess this month was Lindsey Larsen from Occasional Crafting.  Her kit is titled, "All Is Calm, All Is Bright" and it's filled  with nostalgic and heartwarming Christmas images and beautiful colors.  Thanks so much Lindsey for a wonderful kit!!

I'll jump right in to my cards starting with this sweet deer!

It's hard to see in the photo, but I added glittered snowflakes on the background and some white nuvo drops.  Isn't that the sweetest face??

The essence of this card says it all!  The real reason we celebrate this wonderful holiday.

I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope you'll hop over to the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how my gifted team mates were inspired to use Lindsey's kit.

Happy Christmas season!  May the days and months ahead be filled with many blessings and all good things.

Vintage / Retro Box Ornaments

Good morning friends.  What is your favorite crafting style?  Double D Challenges just started a new challenge asking that question.
I enjoy lots of different styles but the one I continue to go back to as my favorite year after year, would be vintage / retro style.

I created these vintage style ornament boxes last year and never got around to posting these last two.

The ornament box was made using Spellbinders nestabilities dies with a stitched oval cut from the center of the front panel.  I covered the front panels with ModaScrap Christmas Paper and then added some of  my favorite embellishments from Tim Holtz Christmas Ephemera to the inside and front of the ornament.

You can see in this photo, that the thickness of the box is about 3/4 of an inch, so there's lots of room on the inside for layering your favorite goodies.  I added lots of Distress Mica Flakes or glitter on the inside of the ornaments to make them shine.

If you'd like to see the posts from last year with the other boxes I've made, click on the links below.

I'll be adding one of these projects to the following challenges:

Cards of Encouragement

Good morning friends~  Just popping on to share some cards I made using papers from Mintay by Karola called Bloomville.

I made a set of inspirational cards to give as a gift at a women's retreat.

The printed papers and elements in this paper set are stunning and so cheerful!

The nest, bird and butterfly were fussy cut from a bonus sheet that's included on the back cover of the paper pack.

Paired with a variety of scripture stamps, this set of cards came out beautifully.

Because we all need a little boost of encouragement from time to time.

Dies R Us ~ Giving Thanks and/or Turkey

It's the season of Thanksgiving and Dies R Us Challenge blog is celebrating!

I went searching through my dies for plump pumpkins and found these wonderful stitched pumpkins from Memory Box.  I paired them up with some colorful Stitched Leaves from Lawn Fawn.

The wood grain oval is cut using a Stitched Oval from Elizabeth Craft Designs, which I rubbed distress inks on to really show off the wood grain pattern.  The "Thanks" die is one that's been sitting in my stash just waiting to be used but there are plenty of styles to choose from in the store.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to visit the DRU Challenge Blog to join in on the fun.  There's a gift card waiting to be won with your name on it!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Have A Cup of Peppermint Mocha!

Are you working on your holiday cards?  There's only about 8 weeks left so I've been playing in Christmas!!

A friend of mine was given boxes and boxes of scrapbooking paper and she was so kind to share some with me.  This pink and lime green striped paper was just begging to be used for something minty.  I enjoy my coffee with Peppermint Mocha creamer in it.... it's like a candy cane in a cup!  mmmm...... So anyway, I was inspired to make a mocha - minty card.

I used Papertrey Inks Merry Mug, stamping it in colors that matched the pretty striped paper.  And since the Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is going on right now, I' thought I'd add it to that challenge.

I'll also be entering this card into the Word Art Wednesday Challenge where it's always "Anything Goes".

I hope you're enjoying this beautiful season of color and maybe a cuppa something yummy!

Dies R Us Trees and/or Leaves

Good morning friends.  There's a new challenge starting over at
This week the theme is Trees / Leaves.
Here's my inspiration:
I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Christmas Tree which has both the solid layer and the detailed layer.  Each layer is a separate die so you can make the tree any size you like.

I die cut the solid tree out of white card stock and the detailed tree out of green card stock.  I then heat embossed the tips of the green tree in gold embossing powder.

For the Star of David, I used Die-versions Nativity Border and used just the star.  The background frames were cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs Postage Stamp Rectangles and Stitched Rectangles.

You can see more inspiration for this challenge and join in on the fun by clicking HERE.
The winner will receive a gift voucher to Dies R Us.
