Candy Canes ~ Double D Challenge

Hello friends~  Are you all ready for Christmas??  It's just a few days away!  Double D Challenges is sneaking in one last challenge, and the theme is "Candy Canes".

My card uses all "oldies" but goodies!
I started with a piece of printed scrapbook paper and added some Tim Holtz Mini Holiday Greens.  I'm so glad that "greens" never go out of style!

I layered two Candy Canes from Dee's Distinctively and topped them with a bow from Impression Obsession Patchwork Gifts.  The beautiful "JOY" die cut is from The Greetery.

A few scattered snowflakes from Elizabeth Craft designs finished this card off nicely.

Here's the mood board to help inspire you:

And here's the prize that you could win when you play along:

I hope you'll visit the Double D Challenge blog to see more fantastic inspiration from my amazingly talented teammates and join in on the fun, if you find the time!

Spellbinders Postage Edge Slimline Dies ~ ScrapbookPal

Hello crafty friends, I'm up on the ScrapbookPal blog today with another fun project featuring Spellbinders Postage Edge Slimline Dies.  Slimline cards are such a nice change of pace when making cards.  They give you ample space for lots of creativity and they fit perfectly into business sized envelopes.

The Postage Edge Slimline Dies are part of the Postage Edge Shapes Collection by Becca Feeken.  This set has six thin metal cutting dies. For a subtle WOW factor, stack them with the complementary slimline shapes that have finishing edges like her Fluted Classics or Hemstitch Collection and others alike.

I started today's project by creating a white slimline, left fold card base that measures 4"x9".  Using the largest Postage Edge Slimline die, I cut a panel out of white cardstock, and I cut a blue panel using the dotted slimline layering die and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Spellbinders Circle Illusion 3D Embossing Folder.   I then adhered the blue panel to the white panel using Scor-Tape.

I used Spellbinders Sealed Wildflowers to cut the greens and flower elements out of colored cardstock from my stash and assembled them using Bearly Art Precision Liquid Craft Glue.

I then glued the flowers over top of the blue panel and wrapped some silver thread twine around the postage edge panel, adding a charm for added detail.

To finish it off, I attached the postage edge panel to the card front using more of the Scor-Tape.  A quick and easy card for today!  But don't go yet, as I have a bonus card for you!

I wanted to use these same Postage Edge Slimline Dies to make a vintage style card using some retired scrapbook paper that needs to get used up.  I love the look of the entire collection of Postage Edge Die Shapes.  They're so versatile and can be used for any projects.  You'll find them in Slimline, like I used today, OvalsSquaresRectangles and Circles.

Here's a list of products I used today that can be found at ScrapbookPal:

I'm so glad you stopped by today!  I hope you enjoyed today's project and are inspired to try out these wonderful new dies.

Last Minute Gift Card Holders ~ Scrapbook Pal

Christmas day is coming fast upon us!  Are you ready?

If you’ve run out of time to shop, gift cards always fit the bill.

Today’s project for making gift card holders is quick and easy using basic supplies from your stash and the Tim Holtz Thinlits “Collector” die set

The papers I used are from the Sweet Peppermint collection from Prima.  They truly are sweet in the vintage style that I love.

The Collector die set includes 45 dies that allow you to create these adorable mini file folders and all the embellishments you can possibly think of. These little envelopes can be used for so many things. Think of sharing seeds with your friends, tucking love notes inside to put in your loved ones lunch box or add them to a card to make it interactive.

I die cut the tags out of patterned paper from the Sweet Peppermint collection and sponged on some Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink.  I'll add the names of the recipients here.

I love that Tim Holtz even thought of the disc closures.  I simply glued them on from the center, being careful not to get glue on the outside edge of the discs, so I could add the string to close up these cute envelopes.  A brad would work here as well.

My shopping is done, so now I can enjoy the beauty of this wonderful celebration of Jesus' birth.  The most precious gift of all!

Here is a list of links to the following products I used that can be found at Scrapbookpal.

Candy Cane Lane Accordion Flip Album

Hi friends!  You're in for a treat today!  I made this fun accordion flip album using a tutorial I found on YouTube, HERE.  I used the adorable Candy Cane Lane collection from Prima to decorate it.   This is a fairly picture heavy post, so I hope you have something yummy to drink and that you're sitting in a comfy chair.  And don't miss the best part at the end of this post!

This is the front cover of the album.  The album measures about the same size as an A2 size card, so it felt very familiar decorating each of the pages.  I used the same techniques on each section, creating pockets and fold outs, as you'll see as we move along.

This picture gives you and idea of the depth of the album and all the wonderful texture that the front cover has.  I adore this Santa image with his rosy red cheeks.  All the die cuts are from the Candy Cane Lane Ephemera packs.

Here's what the album looks like when you open the cover.  The half page on the left flips open and the page covered in bows flips open to the right.

Here is the photo of the same section, with both pages flipped open.  The page on the left and right, both have pockets where I've tucked in all kinds of retro Christmas goodies from the collection.

Moving on to the next section, you can see some of the items I have tucked into the pockets peeking out.

And here they are all pulled out for the recipient to enjoy.  I made this for a dear friend who loves vintage as much as I do. She can enjoy adding her family Christmas photo's and journaling on the many journaling cards I tucked into each pocket.

This is the last section...

Now let's open the flaps to find more sweet embellishments and journaling cards.

I seriously had so much fun making this little album, that I ended up making three more using different collections to give as gifts to each of my friends in my crafty group.

I also wanted to give you an update on my sweet little grandson.
He came home from the hospital but still has a feeding tube that they need to use when he doesn't take his full bottles.
He just turned three months old and now weighs 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Royce, their golden retriever keeps a very close eye on baby Callum.

And my son and daughter in love just gave birth on Dec. 3rd to a beautiful, healthy baby girl!
Please meet our little Presley Shawn.  At birth, she's already bigger than her cousin.  She weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 21" long.

My heart is so full, it could burst with joy and love.  I'm overjoyed to join the ranks of grandparenthood after several years of heartache and loss.  Truly, my cup runneth over.

ETA:  I just discovered this wonderful, uplifting challenge blog called Path of Positivity Challenge and it is a breath of fresh air!  I'll be entering this project and post into this challenge to help spread hope and positivity.  With God all things are possible!  I do hope you'll check out their blog.
I'll also be adding this project to the Paper a la mode challenge where the theme is "Add Snow".

Thanks for stopping by!

The Perfect Christmas Tree ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friend!  I'm so glad you stopped in for my next Mixed Media Monday project.
I have two Christmas cards to share with you today.
Both of my cards feature this beautiful 3D Texture Embossing folder from Sizzix called Pine Branches.

I started by running a piece of cream colored cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Pine Branches Embossing Folder from Sizzix.  Using a blending sponge, I rubbed Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness DOX inks over the raised portion of the pine branches.  I then added some Antique Linen Dox ink around the rest of the panel and randomly stamped a script image from Stamperia's Elements Stamp Set.

I found this fantastic vintage photo in the Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Dolls package and thought it would be perfect for my vintage style card.  I added photo corners and adorned the image using Poinsettias and greens from Spellbinders and a Pine Cone die from Gina Marie Designs.  I sprinkled some clear glitter over the petals of the poinsettias for added interest.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Sentiment Labels from Tim Holtz.
This card gives me a warm nostalgia from my childhood, when I would go into the woods with my dad and uncle to find the perfect tree, which always turned out to look like a Charley Brown Christmas tree, but loved just the same.

My next card is delightfully retro in style!  I created the background exactly the same as the first card, but this card found Jolly ole' Saint Nick wearing a pink stocking hat and mittens!

The oversized sentiment and Santa are from Prima's Candy Cane Lane Collection.  The cutest collection ever!  I made an accordion flip album using this entire collection, which I'll post next week.  A few prima flowers and two Classic Christmas Clear Die Cuts finished this card of perfectly.

Here's a list of products I used:

Sizzix Pine Branches Embossing Folder
Distress Oxide Ink
Stamperia Elements Stamp Set
Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Dolls
Tim Holtz Christmas Sentiment Labels
Prima Candy Cane Lane Collection
Classic Christmas Clear Die Cuts

I hope you enjoyed today's cards.  Come back in a couple of weeks for my next Mixed Media Monday.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Retro Christmas Tags

Good morning friends~ I'm popping in today with some retro style Christmas tags I made using basic supplies from my stash.

The tag die is an old one from My Favorite Things, called Stitched Tag Stax.

Each tag is adorned with Stitched Banners from Elizabeth Craft Designs and a button card that I made using Papertrey Ink's Button Boutique.  A set that will never go out of style in my opinion.

The Santa and elf images are from Pretty Little Studio.  They have the most beautiful vintage and retro images there!

I cut the holly leaves out of printed scrapbooking paper and added little pre-made flowers to finish them off.

These tags turned out so fun!  I challenge you to dig into your stash and use what you have.

Christmas Stockings ~ Double D Challenges

Hello friends ~ Double D Challenges has a new challenge starting today and the theme is "Christmas Stockings".

I pulled out an older set from Elizabeth Craft Designs to make this familiar Christmas scene.

This brings back memories for me of my childhood, when me and my two sisters would hang our stockings on the fireplace on Christmas Eve, in anticipation of the jolly ole' elf himself to sneak in the night to fill them.

The greens and poinsettias are from Spellbinders.

You can join in on the fun here at Double D Challenges

Here's the mood board to help inspire you:

And here's the prize that you could win when you play along:

I hope for you and your family, that your Christmas season is filled with peace and joy and many precious memories.
