Altered Envelope ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello dear friends ~ While I've been in California, I found myself having crafting withdrawals during my free time, so I looked for a kit of some kind that would have everything I needed to create.

I altered this preprinted envelope using the stamps and vellum stickers that I had purchased earlier and used on this art journal page HERE.
The Holiday Wishes Card Kit from ARToptions is a sweet  kit that includes enough cards and envelopes to make eight cards. There are also two sheets of rub-on transfers and eight sticker seals.  It's designed by Katie Pertiet and I just love her work!

Just a quick and easy project using limited supplies that will help keep me on track for Mixed Media Monday until I get back home in June.

Thanks for stopping by!

Catching Up with Friends and Crafts

Hello lovelies~  I've been having so much fun out here in sunny California with my son and daughter in law and taking care of my little "P".  Time is flying by and before I know it, I'll be hopping on a plane and flying back home to the east coast.  While I was out here, I had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with my dear friend Nancy Penir from Artful Notions.

I first "met" Nancy in 2012 when I participated in one of my first PTI challenges.  Nancy was one of the first people to comment on my new blog, way back when!
Two weeks ago, we spent a fun day together enjoying lunch and a bit of shopping.

Nancy is one of the sweetest ladies I've had the privilege to meet, for so many reasons.  We are alike in many ways and we connect like we've been old friends.  She was so kind as to send me an envelope the day after our luncheon, filled with crafty goodness, including these stencils from The Greetery.

The leaves and "thanks" die cuts were in the envelope as well.  I had  purchased these three DOX inks while I was out here and I thought they'd be fun to use with the stencils and die cuts that Nancy sent.

These beautiful Crocus dies, also from The Greetery, were tucked in the envelope as well.
I paired them with some die cuts from Simple Stories that I purchased soon after arriving.

Thank you so much Nancy for the crafty goodies and our afternoon together.  I had the best time spending time with you!!

We went out for brunch on Mother's day with Allison's parents and had a wonderful time.  Here's me with my son, his beautiful wife and our sweet little "P".

When I first arrived, Presley and I had a secret paint day.  You don't want to know how many times it took me to get two good prints of her wiggly feet, using craft paint.  Then I had to make sure that it was all washed off and no traces of paint left by the time her mama and daddy came home, lest they be wondering why she had pink feet.  Nancy kindly sent the alphabet stamps so I could finish this gift for Allison for Mother's Day.

A happy Mother's Day indeed!

And looks who's growing up while I'm away!  Our dear little "C" turned 8 months old without me.  I can't believe that he'll be almost 9 months old next time I see him again.

I'm so very thankful to have had this opportunity to spend so much time out here with my son and his family.  What a rare and treasured gift!
If you've made it to the end of this post, thanks for sticking with me through my ramblings.  Hope you have a great rest of your week.

Thanks for stopping by!

Veg Out! ~ Colorado Craft Company ~ ScrapbookPal

Hello friends~ I'm getting my green thumb on with Colorado Craft Company's new Veg Out release at ScrapbookPal

These stamps and dies are so much fun, whether you have a real green thumb or not!

I started by stamping this cute, carrot-munching bunny and cabbage images onto 80# Neenah Solar White Cardstock and coloring the images using Copic Markers.  I cut them out using the coordinating Veg Out Dies and then played around with a couple different layouts.

For the first card, I cut a rectangle and blended Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink from the bottom up, allowing it to fade out.  I cut a second rectangle and blended Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers DOX inks from the top down, again, allowing the color to fade.

I layered the two rectangle panels together and stamped the sentiment on the top.  I added the rabbit tip-toeing through the lettuce patch using Bearly Art Precision Liquid Glue.

These new Sprinkletz Embellishments recently arrived at ScrapbookPal as well.  There are so many fun designs to choose from.  The Pastel Blooms Sprinkletz were the perfect finishing touch for my card.
For the second card, I stamped the lettuce and carrot images on colored cardstock to create a background.  I did a bit more ink sponging in the background of a deckle edge rectangle and glued the rabbit and lettuce to finish the card.

I hope today's cards have inspired you to explore your green thumb.  There's so much to discover at ScrapbookPal.

Here's a list of products I used that can be found at ScrapbookPal.

Art Journal Using Limited Supplies ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends,  I'm writing this post from sunny California!  I'm staying at my son and daughter-in-loves house until June.  I flew out the end of April, to come and babysit my sweet little "P" until her mama gets out of school in June.

I shipped a large flat rate box of craft tools and very few supplies so that I could get my craft on while I'm here, but I realized right away that I did not have much to create with.  I only had one stamp set that was for a design team project but I can't share that card with you until later.

So, I hopped on Amazon and found this super cute, all in one kit in a vintage style, which you know I love.

The kit came complete with an art journal, pretty botanical printed papers, die cut ephemera and vellum stickers.  Now, I've never used vellum stickers before and I've just discovered that I love them!  They have a translucent look to them, that gives them a little halo look around the image.

I also purchased a clear botanical stamp set that will get lots of use in my art journaling when I return home.

I had no distress oxide inks and no blending tools, no stencils or other mediums so the page is pretty basic.  But it still gave me plenty of joy creating it and I'm happy with the way it turned out.
If you haven't seen me commenting on your blog for a bit, now you know why.  My computer time is very limited, as I am here for sweet "P" and the computer can wait.  I'll try to play catch up, as well as I can, when I can.  Until then, I'll try to share the few things I'm making.  I had a sweet visit and a surprise from a friend, which I'll share in a later post.

I'll be adding today's project into the following challenges:

Garden Cart ~ ScrapbookPal

Share the gift of love with your favorite gardener.  Did you know that the month of April is declared  National Garden Month? But May and June are just a few steps away, with Mother’s Day and Father’s day on the horizon.

I’m revisiting one of my favorite Spellbinders collections, “Add To Cart” for ScrapbookPal

Choose from the Add To Cart “Right Facing” or “Left Facing” and then fill your cart with your favorite gardening items using dies from “In The Garden”, “Plant It Here” or “Shopping Run”.

I don't know about you, but a shopping cart filled with things like this just makes me happy!  I enjoy being outside working in the yard and flower gardens, and visiting my favorite garden spots in the spring brings joy to my soul.

My love of gardening was passed down from my dad, who's mother, my grandmother, passed it down to him.  I have vivid memories of both of them tending to their beautifully landscaped yards.  My gardening skills don't hold a candle to their skilled hands, but I enjoy the process and the peace and solitude of being outside working in God's beautiful creation.

I had a few leftovers, so they found their way to another card.  No sentiment, just CAS.

I hope you enjoyed today's cards.  You can find all the products I used at ScrapbookPal.
