Sharing Christmas

Hello friends~  Are you all recovered from the busy-ness of the holiday?
Our Christmas turned out differently than we had planned.  Our son, daughter-in-love and sweet P all came down sick just before they were to fly home.  Allison contracted a bronchial infection and our sweet P had RSV.  Our son Christopher was the healthiest of them all, having had just a cold.  Needless to say, they didn't make it home for Christmas.
"A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps."
Proverbs 16:9

Perhaps The LORD has a better plan in store for us in His good timing.

Just thought I'd share some cards I made this season, that I never got around to sharing.
The Waffle Flower Postage Collage die and stencils have been such a hit this season.

I used up some bits and bobs that have been sitting in my die cut box just waiting to be used.

Various companies and so many possibilities.

This one is my favorite.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!  Looking forward to the new year!!

Vintage Christmas Postcard

Hello friends ~  I'm popping in with a Christmas card I made using the colors from Color Throwdown Challenge.

This line from Prima called Candy Cane Lane just happens to have the colors they're looking for: Pink, Magenta & Green.  Not to mention that the entire collection is as cute as can be!

I cut one of the papers with this sweet girl dressed in her vintage best, using Sizzix Snail Mail die and added some post card stamping and a die cut poinsettia, which I distressed to add to the vintage look.  The leaves are cut using an older Spellbinders Poinsettia die.

The pretty pink banner is from the coordinating ephemera pack.  The poinsettia makes this card eligible for the Peace On Earth challenge, using their mood board for further inspiration.

My card will be entered into the following challenges:

Flea Market Finds ~ Spellbinders

Hello dear paper crafting friends!  I'm delighted to be posting on my blog today, projects I made using Spellbinders newest Flew market Finds release from Cathe Holden.
Fair warning, this is a picture heavy post, so grab a cuppa something yummy, sit back and get ready to be transported back in time.

When I received the package with all the goodies in the mail from Spellbinders, it was literally like walking through a well curated flea market, just full of beautiful vintage ephemera.

Let's start with the Florals 2 Palette Paper Pad.   It’s a 6x9 inch paper pad, full of floral designs with a backdrop of deep rich colors.

I created two postcards using papers from the Florals 2 Palette and stamped images from the Reading Matter Clear Stamp Set.

Here you'll find some sweet little book marks or they could also be used to add to cards, art journals or other projects as you'll see below.  I used one of the long scalloped dies from Mini Envelopes 1 Etched Dies to cut the book marks.  I added pieces of ephemera from Coat Check Miscellany and a tiny tag from the Mini Envelopes 1 die set.

I randomly stamped images from both Reading Material Clear Stamps and Sign Here Clear Stamps onto the back sides of the book marks.  The tab reinforcers from the die set and some string finished these off.

This is a sampling of some of the dies included in Mini Envelopes 2 Etched Die Set.  I adore the pointed scalloped rectangle! This design is reminiscent of that bygone era.

This is a picture of an original vintage calling card.  Do you see the resemblance in the die cut shape?

So many possibilities here for creating your own vintage pieces.  Tiny envelopes to fill with tiny treasures.  You can create them with or without the windows, as the dies are all separate.

Moving on to the greeting cards I made, using more of the Florals 2 Palette Paper Pad and other ephemera bits from Coat Check Miscellany.

I used the book mark I made previously, on this card here.  I just love the blue tones on this pretty floral paper.

I had so much fun creating with this amazing release!  I do hope you'll take a minute to visit Spellbinders to see the entire new release as well as all the other New Arrivals for the month of March.

Winter Skate

Hi crafty friends!  I'm popping in with a winter card that would be perfect for a Christmas card, a winter birthday or just to say hello during the cold, snowy months.

I started by stamping the vintage post card image onto a piece of journal lined cardstock from my stash and stamping a few random polka dots as well as other images from my vintage stamp collection.

The Ice Skate and Winter Evergreen Foliage are from the Winter Garden Collection from Spellbinders.  These dies are timeless in style.  I filled the skate with beautiful poinsettias from Spellbinders October Amazing Paper Grace Kit of the Month.

Here is a list of products I used that can be found at ScrapbookPal:

Winter Evergreen Foliage and Ladybugs

That's it for today's post.  I wish a safe and joyful Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Spellbinders Flea Market Finds ~ Mixed Media Monday

My projects today give focus to Spellbinders Flea Market Finds Christmas release from Cathe Holden.  If you know me at all, you know I love anything vintage and everything in this release has me wishing for more!

I made this mixed media entry into my stone paper art journal from Create Happiness.

The Home For The Holidays 6x9" paper pad is filled with nostalgia and holiday charm!  I covered the journal page using this sheet of advertisement and distressed around the edges.  I stamped some script, randomly over the page and added some white polka dots using texture paste and a polka dot stencil from Heidi Swapp.

I also stamped some images using Compliments of the Season Clear Stamp Set and added this amazing Christmas tree die cut from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die Cuts, along with a stamp image from the same pack.

I finished the corners off using a bit more of the beautiful, patterned paper.  I simply cut a small square, ripped it corner to corner and added Distress Oxide Ink to the edges.  It looks like a treasured keepsake from a Christmas event long ago.

Next up are a few postcards I made using the Compliments of the Season Clear Stamp Set, more amazing images cut from the Home For The Holidays 6x9" Paper Pad and die cuts from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die cuts.

These post cards practically made themselves because the images in the paper pad are so perfect, I didn't want to add too much and risk covering the image.

Do you see the bells in the top left corner of this post card?  Do they look real or what??  They're die cuts so this post card is completely flat and can be mailed using a postcard stamp.

For this slimline card, I simply cut a piece of the printed paper from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad using a Fluted Classics Slimline Etched Die and cut the sentiment out of the same page, layered it and added the gold bar die cut to the bottom.  Super easy and fast!

I really loved how all of these came out and enjoyed working with this release so much!  I hope you enjoyed this post too.

Mixed Media Monday ~ Be Joyful Always

Welcome back to my third installment of Mixed Media Monday.  Today's art journal page, is actually a CASE from the very talented Vicky Papaionnou, using items from her newly released collection Create Happiness.

Of course, I added my own spin to her amazing layout using these delightful, stacked teacups from the Pink Dream Ephemera pack.

After inking the background using Oxide Inks, I randomly stamped a very old Flora background stamp.  It's so old, I don't even remember the company that made it, but to this day, is still one of my favorite background stamps. I also did some random stenciling using Vicky's Book Stencil

I tucked a vintage post card, from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Ephemera Pack, behind the teacups and added my verse of the day, "Be joyful always".  I added white gel pen details to the die cuts and black lines around the sentiment to make it stand out.

I can easily get lost in the creation of art journaling.  I hope you enjoyed today's creation as much as I enjoyed the process of making it.

Vicky's entire line of products are so filled with vintage beauty!  I love everything about her style.

I've linked up many of her products below.  A Cherry On Top Crafts, carries her entire line and she just had a new release, so I hope you'll check them out.

Halloween Fun

Do you like vintage Halloween images?  I do!
In fact, I found this fun Pumpkin Toy die from Sizzix that's an older die but it looked so retro to me, I had to have it.

This jester-like jack-o-lantern made me think of images like the one below.

I used scraps from my scrap box to cut each piece of the die so no new papers were harmed when creating these.

I turned these cuties into postcards on the back instead of making A-2 style cards, just to be different.

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:
Alphabet Challenge ~ O is for One Word Sentiment ~ Boo!
Simon Says Monday ~ Spooky
Simon Says Wednesday ~ Fall / Autumn Colors
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
