12 Kits of Occasion ~ August

Hello everyone.  Summer is slipping by quickly.  It already feels like fall here in Maine.  I enjoy the colors and crisp air of fall, but I'm already not looking forward to the snow and cold temperatures that follow.  The end of the month brings us to the group post for 12 Kits of Occasion.  This month was hosted by Marybeth of Marybeth's Time For Paper, with her kit titled "Simple Leaves".  Anyone who knows Marybeth, knows that she has an exquisite eye for CAS designs.  She's also one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people I know.  Here's a picture of the kit that she sent.   I just love the fresh color palette she used. It emulates Marybeth and her incredible style perfectly.

I made three cards this month because I've been spending a lot of time outside enjoying what's left of summer but I have plenty of leftovers to make more cards.  Here's my cards:
Marybeth sent two stamped panels using this falling leaves stamp.  She also included the large Altenew letters.  I simply added a couple of stamped sentiments to go along with it from PTI.

I colored this embossed sunflower panel using Copic markers.  I added distress ink to the outside edges and splattered Gathered Twigs DOX ink to add a bit of texture.

The "smile" die cut was leftover from a previous kit that I colored black and added black WOS to make it sparkle.

I'm adding this card to the Time Out Challenge for their current "Season" challenge.

This was another embossed panel that Marybeth included in her kit along with the printed paper strip down the side.  I added the sunflowers from Simon Says Stamps and the "Enjoy" die cut from the kit.

I hope you enjoyed today's post.   Please stop by the 12 Kits of Occasion blog to see how all my friends were inspired by Marybeth's kit.  Thanks so much Marybeth!  I enjoyed creating with your kit.

BIG HUGS ~ TSOC ~ Focal Sentiment

Hello and Happy Hump-day!  It's time for your mid-week challenge starting over at The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week we're looking for cards that have the sentiment as your focal point.

That's easy to do when you have these large die cut Caps Bold Alphabet dies from Altenew.  This is a great set that allows you to add any focal sentiment you want.  I simply added the sentiment, cut from black card stock, to some pretty printed paper.  I raised the die cut frame by just a wee bit.

Now it's YOUR turn to play along.  You can find all the details at The Sisterhood of Crafters or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Sunflowers & Smiles ~ Double D Challenge

Hello friends~  It's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges.
This week, the theme is Sunflowers:

I used Cheery Lynn's Sunflower Set, which is an oldie but a goodie die set.  I dug through my scrap box and found these two pieces of printed scrapbook paper that seemed to compliment each other pretty well.  I cut them using Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles.

The sentiment is stamped using Elizabeth Craft Designs "Little Words That Mean A Lot" and then cut using Impression Obsession Fancy Label die.

Here's what you could win when you play along:

I hope to see you there.

Hot Colors ~ Dies R Us ~ Baby It's Hot Outside

Hello stamplings ~  There's a new challenge starting up today over at the Dies R Us Challenge blog and the theme is "Baby It's Hot Outside", so we're looking for you to use hot colors.

For my card I started with a bright yellow card base and added a white card stock panel that was cut using an old MFT blueprints die.  I cut some Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Fishtail Banners in bright, hot colors and lined them up on my panel using the straight edge and trimming off the fishtail end.

I added flowers that were cut using Spellbinders Layered Colorful Blooms.  The sentiment is also from this set.  I adore these layered flowers!

How sweet is this cheerful card?  I hope you enjoyed today's project and are inspired to play along.
You can find all the details and join in on the fun by clicking here.  You could be the next winner of a DRU Gift Certificate!

I wanted to remind you that Dies R Us has opened a sister store with warehouses in the USA and Canada called Didi Crafts

It will ship to both the US and Canada.  Didi Crafts will carry some of the same products as DRU, but most will be different.  Now our Canadian friends don't have to worry about huge taxes or shipping fees. How great is that!?!  We'd love for you to visit by clicking on the links above or by clicking here.

Baby Swan Gift Set

Good morning friends~  I've got a cutie pie gift set that I made and put together for my daughter's sister-in-law who's expecting a tiny baby girl in October.  As many of you know, I like to make my gifts based off the shower invitations I receive.  People choose their shower invitations as a means of reflecting their style so by coordinating the gift to go along with the invitation, I feel like it's more personal than just buying a gift.  This sounds strange, but personal invitations get my creative juices flowing.

For this gift, the baby shower had a sweet pink floral background with a swan wearing a gold crown.  How appropriate, since their last name is Swan.  Spellbinders Card Kit of the Month for February 2019 titled "Golden Swan" was the perfect die set to start my layered scene.

I made the swan, using three layers of the wing to add dimension.  I pulled out lots of dies to create the surrounding scene.

Look at the detail on the pretty Elizabeth Craft Design Wisteria.  Can you guess how many hours it took me to cut, shape, glue and assemble that wisteria bush with glittered centers?  A long time!

Here's the invitation and the outfit I found on Amazon to go along with it.  The colors couldn't have matched more perfectly.  Cute as can be!  Right??

As it happened, I didn't have a girlie gift bag so I made my own, using scrapbook paper, some die cut trim, doily, and a pre-printed swan die from the Spellbinders card kit.

Here is the card I made to go along with it.

The baby shower is this weekend.  I hope she and baby likes this gift.

I'll be adding one of my hand made projects to the following challenges:
Simon Says Monday Challenge ~ Summer Memories
AAA Challenge ~ Along the Edge (Card with sentiment along the edge)
The Flower Challenge ~ Add Sparkle (Wisteria Flowers)

I also wanted to let you know that Spellbinders is giving away a FREE set of Wonderland StoryTime Paint Pens with any order over $75.00

Dinosaur Dude ~ TSOC ~ Masculine

Hello everyone!  There's a new challenge starting over at The Sisterhood of Crafters and we're looking for masculine cards.  Well, as it turns out, I was in need of a card for a sweet little boy so the timing was perfect.

I had this stamped panel leftover from one of my 12 Kits and decided it was just the right background for one of Marianne's Designs Dinosaurs.  The Happy Birthday ring was given to me by my dear friend Marica.  I think it's from MFT.

Nice and easy and quick.

Now it's YOUR turn to play along.  You can find all the details for the challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters or by clicking here.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Choose Joy!

Good morning friends.  I'm popping in with a card that fits perfectly in the Time Out Challenge going on right now.

The Tim Holtz Bunny Hop dies from Sizzix are the happiest, dancing bunnies I've seen and they'll certainly dance their way into your heart as they did mine.

I went with a shabby chic look, using the same but different backgrounds and layouts.

The simple sentiment to "choose joy" says it all!

I'll be adding one of these cards to the following challenges:
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge ~ Use your favorite tool:  Die Cuts

A Twist Panel Pop Up Card ~ Double D Challenges ~ Butterflies

Hello friends~  It's time for a new challenge over at Double D Challenges.
This week, the theme is Butterflies:

Who doesn't have tons of them in their stash?  I do and I had a hard time deciding what direction I was going to go with this challenge.  I started by pulling out beautiful papers by Mintay called 7th Heaven.

Yes, you've seen many projects from me using this line of paper but I just can't help myself from using it again and again.  But this card has a twist...

Literally!!  When you open it, four beautiful panels twist and pop out.  I used Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die to create this.

This line of paper lends itself perfectly to this style of card because each set contains two sheets of these lovely journal panels.  Here are more butterflies, in keeping with the theme of the challenge.

There's plenty of room to write or stamp a thoughtful message to the recipient.
I added another journaling panel at the bottom of the card for room to sign your name.

This card looks like it took hours to make but it actually came together fairly quickly once I figured out how to assemble the twist panel gizmo.

Now it's your turn to join in on the fun at Double D Challenges
Here's what you could win:
