YOUR WORD ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hi friends~  I'm back today with an art journal entry I made in my Create Happiness Art Journal, using images from Mintay Papers.

I just love Mintay Papers.  In face, I've never met one that I didn't like and I doubt that I ever will.

I started by blending on lots of rich Distress Oxide Ink into the background and then spritzed it with water and blotted up the ink using a paper towel, to give it this nice mottled look.  I then stamped a typewriter background using a very old background stamp from My Favorite Things.  I used the Lower Case Modern Alphabet from Scrapbook.com to create the title, adding some white gel pen details.

I typed the rest of the verse out on my computer and printed it on my home printer.

I fussy cut the flowers and typewriter out by hand and sponged some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink around the edges, and then added some details using a white gel pen.

I found this little scrap of paper in my scrap box and tore it from corner to corner to make a pocket, where I slipped in some ephemera bits from my stash.  I added this pretty vintage blue bird to the corner pocket.

I used a Create Happiness Borders stencil to stencil the border around the entire layout using black ink.

I hope you enjoyed todays journal entry as much as I enjoyed making it.

I'll be adding this project to the following challenges:

Joyful In Hope

Hello friends!  It's 7:00am and I'm sitting near the woodstove in my pj's, sipping a cup of peppermint mocha coffee, while the snow is falling outside.  We're having a weather advisory to stay inside today and I'll happily comply.  Since I don't have anywhere to be, I'm finding myself taking it a little bit slower this morning and started looking at challenges online.  I haven't played along in a challenge in quite some time.

I made this card a few months ago but never got around to posting it.  I used HoneyBee Stamps Tropical Bouquets die set to make a few cards.  You'll see the other cards below. As I was browsing challenges, I discovered that this card fit the colors on the mood board for  the Beautiful Blossoms Challenge.

Pretty, right??

The colors on my card are a bit more bold, but I think it will work.

I'll also be entering this card into the following challenges:
Krafty Chicks Challenge ~ All Occasion Week
Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes
ETA:  I'll also be adding this card to the Park Hopping, My Happy Place Challenge. Thanks to Makira for reaching out to me, informing me about this "new to me" challenge, and that it reminded her of the flamingos found at Animal Kingdom in Disney World, FL.  I hope you'll check out this brand new challenge.  Looks like a fun one!!

Here's a few more card that I made using the beautiful tropical flowers in Tropical Bouquets:

I hope you're tucked in somewhere safe and warm today.  And if you're somewhere tropical... please send the sunshine and warm weather in our direction.

Adding Copic Details to your Die Cuts ~ ScrapbookPal

Hello friends.  Do you love using thin metal dies?  I DO!  I wanted to share a project with you that shows how I use my Copic Markers to add detail to my die cuts.  This card features Spellbinders Tiered Tray Collection.

I started by cutting all of the die elements out of white cardstock, colored cardstock and printed scrapbook paper, all found in my scrap bin.

ScrapbookPal carries a vast list of Copic Markers and Copic Marker Refills.

Using my Copic Markers, I added color to the edges of the Tiered Tray and the Tiered Tray Décor to add detail and depth.

I challenge you to step up your die cutting game by trying this today!

Hello Birdie ~ Double D Challenges

Hello peeps.  There's a new challenge starting up over at Double D Challenges and the theme is "Birds".

I love feeding and watching the birds in our yard.  They play a big part of helping me get through the long, cold Maine winters.  I could sit in front of the window and watch them for hours.

Todays card is a tri-fold card, featuring this pretty bird from a pack of dies called "Meadow" from K and Company.

You may recall that I used some of the dies in a previous post (found HERE).  The artist is Susan Wingett, and I just love her work!

As I mentioned, this is a tri-fold card.  Here's the base that I started with.  It measures 5 1/2" x 9".  Both the left and right panels are scored at 2 1/4".

I built the left flap by out adding another panel of cardstock, covering each panel with beautiful papers from Stampin' Up!.  The sentiment is cut using Altenew's Versatile Greetings.

I cut the right side of the flap down to a 1" band that I covered with the designer paper and added this sweet little bird.

I also covered the inside of the left flap with more of the pretty papers.  The center has plenty of room for writing a message.

This was a fun card to make.  A little different from the norm.

Here's the inspiration photo to help you get started.

And here's the prize that's up for grabs when you play along:

Circle Valentine's Cards ~ Scrapbook Pal

Happy Valentine's Day to you, friend!  It's my turn to post over at the Scrapbook Pal blog.  Today's cards are perfect for Valentine's Day or just to let someone know how loved they are.

I started by stamping all the sentiments that I thought I might use, from Honeybee Stamps "It's Always Been You" clear stamp set, onto white cardstock scraps that I found in my scrap box.  I stamped some in black ink and gold heat embossed a few.

I die cut all the sentiments out using the coordinating Honey Cuts dies.  This is a great way to use up your scrappy stash, and you'll have lots of sentiments on hand for future projects.

Moving on to these adorable Heart Hugs critters from Honeybee stamps; there are three critters included in the set.  A polar bear which could also be cut out of brown cardstock to make a brown bear, a hedgehog and a fox.  I chose to use the polar bear and the hedgehog, saving the fox for a future project. I cut each of the animals out of white cardstock and some out of colored cardstock.

I assembled the critters using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue and added some details using Copic Markers and a white gel pen.

I cut a couple of Stitched Scallop Circles from PinkFresh Studio, out of two shades of brown cardstock and used them to frame my critters.  You can see in the photo I used the Stitched Scallop Circle to cut the bottom of both animals to reduce bulk.

I then layered them up using some polka dotted kraft papers from my stash.  Super cute!

Once I glued the finished panels to the front of the cards, I glued the sentiments to the bottom of each card.

I think these turned out super sweet!  I'll be sending them along to my sweet little grandbabies.  They're too young for chocolate, but maybe a new outfit will be suitable for Valentine's day.

Happy Valentine's Day! ~ Happy Heart Boxes

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!  Today is one of my favorite days of the year, and not because it's Valentine's Day.  It's because I gave birth to my daughter on Valentine's Day 29 years ago.  But my projects today are to celebrate Valentine's Day.

I made these cute heart shaped boxes using the Concord & 9th Happy Heart Box.

The first box is decorated using sweet Zesty Lemons from Lawn Fawn.  The "LOVE YOU" sentiment boxes are included in the Happy Heart Box die set.

Each box is filled with yummy Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Next up is a black box that I decorated with Be Bold Blooms from Spellbinders.

I made multiples of these boxes to give to my daughter, my daughter-in-love and my mother-in-love.

These are the boxes I made for my hubby, son and son-in-love, using the dies that came with the Happy Heart Box set.

I thought I'd share pictures of my little sweeties as well; it's been a while since I've given an update.
Our little "C" is 5 months old now.  He's over 8 pounds and he's a happy little guy!  He's starting to learn to roll over and he has his first tooth bud.  DH and I get to babysit this little one tonight so his papa can take his momma out to dinner.  A much needed reprieve for both of them.

Sweet "P" is 2 months old and weighs over 11 pounds.  She's growing right on schedule!

I wish you and your family all the love and chocolates you can eat today!
