Morning Coffee ~ Scrapbook Pal

Nothing hits the spot like a cup of hot coffee or two (or three) in the morning, except for drinking that coffee with a friend or family member.

I had a great time pulling out the Hug In A Mug Honey Cuts, coordinating Hug In A Mug Clear Stamps and Friendship Frame Stencils from Honeybee Stamps, to create this sweet floral card for my coffee-loving daughter.

I started by stenciling this flowery background using Friendship Florals Frame Stencils in soft pastel colors.

I die cut the coffee cup using the Hug In A Mug Honey Cuts, using a piece of floral printed paper that I found in my stash.  I cut the spoon out of silver mirror cardstock.  Using the Hug In A Mug Clear Stamps, I lightly stamped the heart image to the inside of the coffee cup using white ink.

I layered the coffee cup over a scalloped oval that I cut out of a piece of vellum and added the sentiment.

I love how springy and feminine this looks.  I hope it brings a smile to my daughter's heart.

New Creation ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends ~  It's time once again for Mixed Media Monday.

Today's entry into my Create Happiness Art Journal is fairly CAS.  I cut this large Eyelet Lace Frame from Spellbinders Garden Shutters collection out of a piece of parchment cardstock and stamped some scripty background in very light Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink.  I also stamped some vintage postal imagery using clear stamps from Spellbinders Flea Market Finds recent release.

The edges of the doily as well as the background of the page in my art journal got a healthy dose of distressing using Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stains.  The berries are clear acetate stickers that I found on Amazon and the oversized butterfly is from a K and Co. collection of die cuts called "Meadow".

I typed the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17 on my computer and printed it on my home printer.  I cut the sentiment into blocks, in keeping with the other entries in this journal, and outlined them with a thin black marker.

I enjoyed the CAS process of creating this entry, and I'm so thankful for the truth found in these words.

I'll be adding this page to the Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge

Vintage Easter Box Ornament ~ Double D Challenges

The Easter season is upon and my friends at Double D Challenge want to help inspire you.  There's a new challenge starting today and the theme is "Easter".

My make for this challenge was this sweet, vintage inspired Easter box ornament, using lots of found goodies in my craft room.  I didn't use any new supplies to make this, as I've made several of these in the past.

I've used the Passport Book BIGZ die from Sizzix to make the box ornament.  Unfortunately this die has been retired for quite some time but it's still one of my favorite dies.  I covered the outside of the box with a soft blue scrapbook paper and added some flower rub-ons from Stamperia.  The  flowers came from Hobby Lobby and the bunny is a die cut from Frantic Stamper.  The Easter banner is cut from a retired Graphic 45 paper pad.

Inside the box, you'll find this sweet image that was also cut from the Graphic 45 paper pad, along with a die cut chick from Dies R Us as well as a couple of sparkly Easter eggs from Michael's Craft Store.  I lined the inside bottom of the box with craft moss to give all the elements a place to sit.

You can check out the other ornament boxes I've made in the past:

Flea Market Finds ~ Spellbinders

Hello dear paper crafting friends!  I'm delighted to be posting on my blog today, projects I made using Spellbinders newest Flew market Finds release from Cathe Holden.
Fair warning, this is a picture heavy post, so grab a cuppa something yummy, sit back and get ready to be transported back in time.

When I received the package with all the goodies in the mail from Spellbinders, it was literally like walking through a well curated flea market, just full of beautiful vintage ephemera.

Let's start with the Florals 2 Palette Paper Pad.   It’s a 6x9 inch paper pad, full of floral designs with a backdrop of deep rich colors.

I created two postcards using papers from the Florals 2 Palette and stamped images from the Reading Matter Clear Stamp Set.

Here you'll find some sweet little book marks or they could also be used to add to cards, art journals or other projects as you'll see below.  I used one of the long scalloped dies from Mini Envelopes 1 Etched Dies to cut the book marks.  I added pieces of ephemera from Coat Check Miscellany and a tiny tag from the Mini Envelopes 1 die set.

I randomly stamped images from both Reading Material Clear Stamps and Sign Here Clear Stamps onto the back sides of the book marks.  The tab reinforcers from the die set and some string finished these off.

This is a sampling of some of the dies included in Mini Envelopes 2 Etched Die Set.  I adore the pointed scalloped rectangle! This design is reminiscent of that bygone era.

This is a picture of an original vintage calling card.  Do you see the resemblance in the die cut shape?

So many possibilities here for creating your own vintage pieces.  Tiny envelopes to fill with tiny treasures.  You can create them with or without the windows, as the dies are all separate.

Moving on to the greeting cards I made, using more of the Florals 2 Palette Paper Pad and other ephemera bits from Coat Check Miscellany.

I used the book mark I made previously, on this card here.  I just love the blue tones on this pretty floral paper.

I had so much fun creating with this amazing release!  I do hope you'll take a minute to visit Spellbinders to see the entire new release as well as all the other New Arrivals for the month of March.

PinkFresh Studio Floral Trio ~ Scrapbook Pal

The month of March can be cold and wet here on the east coast, so I was very happy to be able to work with the beautiful Floral Trio release from PinkFresh Studio this month.  These flowers helped me see past the dirty snow, looking forward to the new growth that spring brings.

Lets jump right in on how this card came together.

I started by using the PinkFresh Studio Floral Trio Hot Foil Plate using Silver Glimmer Hot Foil.  I foiled it three times, using the Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System, twice onto white cardstock and once onto black cardstock, because I didn't have a plan mapped out yet and I wanted to have options.

Using the PinkFresh Studio Floral Trio Stencils, I started adding color to the foiled  white cardstock panels.  I stenciled one using Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn DOX Inks.  I used Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint DOX Inks on the second white cardstock panel.  You'll see that project below.

Next, using the PinkFresh Studio Floral Trio Die, I cut a scrap piece of cardstock so that I could use the negative shape to mask off the stenciled portion of my card front.  I then blended Tumbled Glass DOX Ink around the outside edges of the floral spray.

I then stamped a sentiment from the PinkFresh Studio Floral Trio Clear Stamp Set onto the bottom left corner of the card front.

I finished this card off by framing the image in black cardstock and then mounting it to a soft pink A2 size card base.

I die cut the yellow floral spray using the Floral Trio Die and mounted it to a pretty piece of 6x6" patterned paper that was left over from one of the 12 Kits of Occasion  and made a frame using the Spellbinders Shadowbox Frame Die.

Some Yellow Stickles on the details of the flowers finished this project off nicely.

I loved how the gold foil on the black cardstock came out so I simply trimmed a bit off the edge so I could add some striped scrapbook paper and gold gems.  Easy peasy!

Spellbinders Victorian Collection

Mason Jars are one thing that will never go out of style.  I've been using them for many years as vases for flowers to storing food in my pantry.  Spellbinders has a new Victorian Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn that is absolutely delightful!

Today's card features the lovely Mason Jar and Lavender.  The cool thing about this set is that the Mason Jar is both a Hot Foil plate as well as an Etched Die.  I love how the hot foil design is impressed into the mason jar.  So pretty!

The lavender flowers take a little bit of time, but they're so worth the effort.  The die for the flowers cuts 30 flowers out all at once, so it goes faster than you would think, to assemble these delicate lovelies.  I added some stickles to the centers of each of the flowers and tied some twine around the neck of the jar for added texture.

I used Fluted Classics Slimline Dies to create the card base.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and I especially hope that you'll take a moment to visit Spellbinders to see their NEW ARRIVALS as well as what's COMING SOON.

Vintage Maize Botanical Cards ~ Mixed Media Monday

Hello friends ~ A while back, I made some vintage botanical cards in purple tones (found HERE) and I wanted to create more in a similar fashion, but using yellows tones.
The main focus on these cards are from 49 and Market's Curator's Botanical line.

The quality of these papers in the Curator's Botanical 6x8 Collection Pack are the best I've ever used!  They're thick like mat-board.  Really stunning!

The flowers and butterfly are from the Curator's Botanical Ephemera Bits.  I added a healthy dose of WOS to them.

The second card uses items I had in my scrap boxes.

I added this cute little pocket that I cut out of paper from my scrap box and added other extra bits and bobs that I found while rummaging through my boxes.

I hope I've inspired you to dig through your scraps and use them to create some sunshine today.
